Wyrm 3:
I'm being lifted again.
And this time I am prepared.
Ouch!
Yep, I was dropped again.
Damn it! This gag isn't funny anymore!
Then nothing happened for a long while, relatively speaking.
I mean, I can't tell the time here.
Why am I even here anyway?
...Is this my punishment or something?
I suddenly remembered something my besties said.
{ Aiko: "Wakaba's scary, y'know?"
Kumiko: "You better not push her much further." }
Did Wakaba do this to me?
...Nah, that's just stupid.
Still, is this divine punishment for bullying her?
Though I wouldn't really call it bullying with how mild it was.
But there was that one time I got so angry I wanted to beat her up.
That could have ended badly, I am glad Aiko and Kumiko were there to stop me.
...Oh, am I being moved again?
I think I am being rolled this time.
And after a while, I stopped and...
???: "Proficiency has reached the required level.
Acquired Skill [Petrifaction Resistance LV1]."
What!? What was that!?
A voice?! A woman's voice!?
It sounded so robotic, like how Wakaba usually spoke, and petrifaction!?
Am I being turned to stone right now?!
Am I going to die?!
...Um, I don't really feel that anything has changed at all.
So I guess I'm safe again?
...Level, Skill...
Am I in a game or something?
This is so confusing.
I remember back when my caretaker would just give me video games to play so she didn't have to actually babysit me.
Tsk, how responsible.
Anyway, haven't played those in a long time, having grown out of it with my time mostly spent on volleyball and hanging with Aiko and Kumiko instead.
And I am being lifted again, you know what that means.
Ouch!
Hey! Who's swinging me around?!
I am sure this time, I was swung downward, not dropped like before.
Stop messing with me already!
What do you want from me?!
Wait, maybe they are trying to set me free by breaking whatever it is I'm trapped in?
Nevermind then, please continue.
...No wait, I am still hearing the sounds of a bug skittering every so often.
Does that mean I am surrounded by giant bugs outside?!
Yikes!
The thought of being trapped here suddenly becomes a lot more appealing.
And I am being rolled again.
Ugh, will this ever end?
I am going back to sleep.
Spider 18:
Yeah, I give up.
I can't break the egg even if I somehow self-destruct, converting all my mass into energy via mc^2=E.
If anything, it's more dangerous to me than I am to it.
I mean, I don't know if the egg's parents will show up or not.
There's no way I can take on adult Dragons! Nai wa!
But since it has been a 'day' since I got this egg and nothing happened, maybe I am safe?
Yeah, let's just go with that.
Inner Critic: You sure about that, Hiiro?
I can just give the egg back if that happens, right?
Anyway, I tried dropping it on a stone spike and the egg broke it instead.
So much for the danger of environmental hazards.
And I have been putting rubber webs around it to let the combined pressure do the work, but I have already put so many on it it's getting awkward to add more.
Seriously, what's this thing made of?
Then again, it is an Earth Wyrm Egg.
I guess Earth Dragons having high defence is a given, including their eggs.
But that leaves the question, what to do with it?
Suddenly, I feel my thread vibrating.
Ah, another disgusting meal awaits my poor stomach.
Idk why, but since I am already balancing on top of the wrapped egg with just two legs as if I'm a circus performer because I was bored, I decided to bring it along by rolling on top of it.
Does that count as laziness or diligence? Maybe both?
This time, I have encountered a new enemy, a lizard Monster.
As usual, I appraise it to build up proficiency for Appraisal-san.
Appraisal-san: < ????? Basilisk >
A basilisk!?
Immediately, I get red flags and sure enough, it attacks with its eyes and petrifies my legs.
Divine Voice (Temp.): "Proficiency has reached the required level.
Acquired Skill [Petrifaction Resistance LV1]."
"I don't wanna turn into a statue! Nai wa!"
Thankfully, the Petrification speed is low even before getting the Resistance Skill and I manage to hide behind the egg to block the line of sight.
Whew, sure glad I brought the egg along.
All the rubber webs on the egg turn to stone and shatter.
But the egg itself seems to be immune to Petrifaction.
Huh, I guess in addition to physical defence, Earth Dragons have high magic defence as well.
Actually, since Petrifaction can destroy my threads, why isn't the lizard using its terrifying ability to break itself free from my web?
Oh right, it's too small-brained to do that, dumbarse.
Inner Critic: Hey, you're a dumbarse too, Hiiro.
Never you mind, Inner Critic.
Anyway, I let the idiot wear itself down pointlessly attacking my egg shield, then I swung the egg down to crush the dummy.
Pretty satisfying, if I do say so myself.
And certainly a lot more comfortable than biting down on my enemies.
Between this and how indestructible the egg is, I guess I'm better off using it as my shield and weapon.
And if it finally breaks, I can just eat whatever is inside.
Perfect! My genius is unparalleled!
Inner Critic: No it's not, Hiiro, far from it actually.
...Nai wa, my legs are covered in stone and walking around is difficult.
This better be fixed when I next level up.
I repaired the web, then I dragged the lizard and rolled the egg back into my home.
