"As knights, battle is our business," Fuegoleon continued. "We want to see everything you're capable of!"
"The match will end when one combatant either surrenders or is unable to continue," William added
"We have mages weilding recovery magic on standby if needed," Y/n chimed in
"So don't hold anything back!" Fuegoleon yelled
"Now, choose your partner!" William exclaimed

The other examinees in the arena started looking around for possible partners for the last test
Meanwhile...
'I've done nothing but stand around this whole time!' Asta internally panicked. 'The best way to show off now is to pair up with someone strong'
"Ha ha. Why don't you and I pair up?" Sekke placed a hand on Asta's shoulder
"You really mean it Sekke?" Asta cried, now on his hands and knees
"Absolutely Ha ha!" Sekke laughed
"Time for the first bout!" William announced
Asta and Sekke walked out to the center of the arena
'Oh Asta's up first' Y/n thought. 'Good luck'
"We're both working for the same goal, so we'll have a fair fight but nobody pulls any punches okay?" Asta grinned
Sekke laughed and placed a hand on Asta's shoulder. "Stop trying so hard. It's getting painful to watch. I guess I should thank you for sticking around and making me look good. Once I join a squad, I plan to kick up my heels and enjoy the ride.
Sekke walked over to his side of the arena, ready for the duel
"Now begin!" Y/n exclaimed
"Bronze Creation Magic: Sekke Magnum Cannon Ball"
A spherical structure formed around Sekke with a Canon poking out the front, aimed towards Asta
"Here we go," Asta says calmly
He shoots towards Sekke, pulling out the sword from his grimoire in the process and swings it down, cutting the spell in half and hitting Sekke as well
All the examinees gasp in shock, while Y/n and Yuno both have a smirk on their face
"Unlike you Sekke, I'm not joining the magic knights just so I can slack off and have fun," Asta explained to the unconscious boy at his feet. "I've got a much bigger goal. I'm gonna be the wizard king!"
'He's fast. Fast transportation magic?' William questioned mentally
'No magical enhancements there' Yami thought. 'This kid's just in crazy good shape'
'He's not the one who'll defeat you Asta' Yuno smirked. 'I am'
The crowd on the arena floor started whispering about him
"Is that a magic sword?"
"So he's not just some reject from the sticks."
"What's his deal?"
"Who is he?"
Recovery mages walks out into the arena with a stretcher, lead by Y/n
"Hey look at that. It's the wizard king's ADOPTIVE daughter. What a weakling she is!"
The arena burst into laughter
"Just because you're the daughter of the Wizard King doesn't mean you're royalty!" someone called out
Yuno and Asta stared at the h/c girl in shock
'She's the wizard king's daughter?' Asta screamed internally
"USELESS GIRL!"
"GO BACK TO WHEREVER YOU CAME FROM!"
"I BET SHE HAS SUCH WEAK MAGIC POWER!"
A burst of magic energy quieted the commotion in the arena. And that magic came from Y/n herself
"Yeah you're right. I may just be the adoptive daughter of the Wizard King, but that doesn't mean you get to treat me like shit because I'm not real royalty," Y/n replied coldly. "And who knows. Maybe I am royalty from a different kingdom.
"Like that's true," a girl said, walking up to Y/n
She stopped and put her face in Y/n's
"I'm Ashlynn. I'm from the noble family De la Rue," she stated, walking around Y/n
"So you're the wizard king's adoptive daughter huh? You must be a commoner or something. You're probably from some loser village with barely any magic power."
Up on the balcony, Nozel and Yami stood up from their chairs, ready to go protect the young girl but William stopped them
"Don't worry. She'll be fine," He said calmly
Down below, Ashlynn challenged Y/n to a duel, even though Y/n told her multiple times, she wasn't allowed to duel her since she's not an examinee
"I'll allow it"
Y/n looked up to the balcony to see William smiling down at her
Y/n sighed and walked to one side of the arena. Ashlynn smirked and walked to the other side. She turned around and William called for the match to start
But before Ashlynn could even open her grimoire, a star shot towards her and exploded next to her. She stared in shock at the h/c girl, who had her grimoire open and hand out
"That was incredible," someone from the crowd exclaimed
"How did she do that without saying a spell?" someone else added
The magic knight captains all smiled at the girl's strength. The crowd awed at her power and Asta and Yuno watched the girl
"That was a warning shot. Next time, I won't miss," Y/n said coldly before walking back over to the recovery mages and Sekke
"What amazing power," Yuno said quietly
"THAT WAS AMAZING Y/N!" Asta yelled
Y/n turned her head to look back at the two boys and nodded softly before continuing back to Sekke
The rest of the exam went on. Yuno won his duel between some noble or royalty guy in about 5 seconds. Y/n didn't return to her place next to William on the balcony. The magic knight captains knew it would be best to leave her alone for now
And soon it was time for the results. Some examinees we chosen for a squad, others we're chosen for more than one, and some weren't chosen at all.
Before Yuno was called up for his results, Y/n returned to her place on the balcony but this time, she stood next to Charlotte Roselei, the captain of the Blue Rose Knights. She was dressed in her usual attire of outfit (you can change the color if you'd like) with the blue rose knights robe over top. Her robe is the same length as her new captain
*Flashback*
Y/n walked out of the arena and headed to her father's office in the castle. When she got there, she pushed open the doors, not even bothering to knock
"LADY Y/N! YOU CANNOT--" Marx exclaimed
"Save it mushroom head" Y/n interrupted
"Y/n? Is everything okay?" Julius asked
"You and I need to have a talk later father," Y/n snapped. "But as of right now, I know which squad I want to join."
"Oh? And what is your decision?" Julius exclaimed
*End of flashback*
"I'm very glad you've chosen my squad Y/n," Charlotte said. "With your amazing power, I'm sure you will become a great magic knight in no time."
Y/n got down on one knee. "I will not let you down ma'am."
Charlotte smiled softly before turning back to the examinees
"Next, number 164," one of the staff members called out
Yuno stepped forward
"Do we have any hands?" the staff member asked
The crowd gasped as every magic knight captain raised their hand
"All of them?"
"That's crazy!"
"I guess it's not just royalty and nobles who can get into the Golden Dawn."
"The Silver Eagles too?!"
Y/n started clapping. "Good job Yuno!"
Said male turned at the sound of his voice and saw the h/c girl cheering for him. This caused all the examinees to stare at her, along with all the captains
Yuno smiled softly at her and she returned it with a smile of her own. This unfortunately made the ash blond haired boy jealous
'I have to choose the squad that will get me to my goal' Yuno thought
"I wish to join the Golden Dawn," he stated
The corners of William's lips curled upwards at Yuno's statement and lowered his hand
"Number 165," the staff member called
Asta walked into the middle of the arena where Yuno previously stood
"Do we have any hands?"
And to no one's surprise, none of the captains raised their hands
"Number 165? No hands"
"It can't be," Asta started
Asta didnt move from his spot and the crowd started getting impatient
"Come on! Outta the way!"
"Move it. I'm up next!"
"I'm not done," Asta said.
"It's no real surprise is it?" a voice said
The captains, Y/n, the examinees and Asta all turned to the sound of the voice. It belonged to Yami Sukehiro, Captain of the Black Bulls.
"No matter how great your skill in battle might be, no one wants to touch a power that mysterious," Yami explained. "The captains here are looking for magic power."
Yami jumped off the balcony and walked over to Asta as his magic power flowed out of him in waves, causing Asta, Yuno and the examinees to gasp
"What would anyone ever want with you? A kid with no magic at all," Yami said. "What you said before. You were taking this exam cause you wanna be the wizard king. You do realize that if you want to reach your goal, you have to prove that you're better than all nine magic knight captains."
"And now here, standing here, magicless and pathetic, can you really say you have what it takes? That's you're strong enough to be the wizard king?"
"Yeah I may not get to join a magic knights squad today. But no matter what anyone else says, and no matter how many times I might stumble, I won't give up! I will become the wizard king," Asta announced proudly
Yami's magic power died down and he actually started laughing. "Ya know what kid, I actually like you. Come join our crew."
*After the Exam*
Asta and Yuno were standing outside of the arena, waiting for their new captains to be ready to leave
"Hey guys!"
Both Yuno and Asta turned to see Y/n running towards them
"Hey Y/n. That spell you did earlier was so awesome," Asta gushed over the young girl
"So I guess you know now huh?" Y/n rubbed the back of her neck
"Yeah. We do, but that doesn't make you any better than us," Yuno replied
"YEAH YOUR MAGIC POWER IS SUPER STRONG!" Asta exclaimed
"Thanks you guys," Y/n smiled
"I see you've finally chosen a squad. Blue Rose Knights," Yuno pointed out, looking at her robe. "Why not the Golden Dawn or the Silver Eagles?"
"Captain Charlotte is a very powerful mage," Y/n explained. "Plus, it'll be fun being in a squad full of badass girls. And being the wizard king's daughter, I'm very close with all the captains, so I didn't have to take the exam."
"I also want to become a magic knight to find out who I am. If I became a magic knight, I could follow clues and things that people knew to find where I'm from."
Yuno only gave a nod of understandment. "If I may, I would like to join you on your quest to find your home town. I'd like to find mine as well."
"Yeah! It'll be fun!" Y/n replied
"Y/n. Come on. Time to go," Charlotte called
"See ya!" Y/n waved to the two boys before running to catch up with her new captain
'This is only the beginning of my journey as a magic knight'
'I will find out who I am and where I came from. And who knows, I may even be royalty'
