She stood in the corner of the living room, towering over the couch where her mother was sleeping, an empty bottle of Tequila hanging by her side. In the girl's hand was a Red Velvet cupcake with a small candle right on the frosting. The small flame and the waking sky were the only thing lighting up the small room, creating eerie shadows on the walls, blue and orange glow drawing shapes on the floor. Dawn was coming.
"Happy birthday to me," she whispered before blowing out the candle and leaving the sleeping world in darkness.
