synopsis
Carwen Zitouni belonged with the stars. Since the day she was born, her father had sworn that she had been blessed by the glowing specks when she had entered the world.
Those who didn't know Garian Zitouni well, called him a madman. Those who did, called him spectacular. In his youth, he aspired to be an astrologist to be able to study the stars he admired, yet when a woman proclaimed that she could name the billions that slept in the sky, he found a new idol and exchanged one love for another.
Getting a quest was never on Carwen's bucket list as the mere idea of risking her life was very off-putting and the fact that she would need to able to use a sword without causing harm to herself or any allies, prevents anyone from rushing to invite her on a quest.
This doesn't mean that she lacks any useful qualities. Her luck diverts any dangers that surface, which is convenient when she takes part in Capture the Flag or when she is able to distract Annabeth when she is their cabin inspector.
Carwen had depended on her luck from before she had been claimed, yet during the summer of '07, her luck had ran out. With knives missing their targets and bets being lost, Carwen's sheer dumb luck had vanished as she is forced to attend a quest to rescue her mother in order to win back the luck she relies on.
The only issue that seems to arise is that Carwen lacks the basic skills that are needed to survive, leading the girl to taking an interest in the group of campers who have succeeded in surviving previous quests and saving the camp, particularly one whose eyes are the prettiest shade of green she's ever seen.
