Not sure what happened—
I changed, seemingly overnight.
I was no longer untamed.
I thought faster and talked slower,
Measuring everything I said and did.
The world was full of strangers with expectations
That I could not begin to imagine.
And the imagining was what haunted me:
A looming shadow
In an otherwise shining young life.
