Evie Frye

Books were all scattered on the table as Evie and Sarah scoured them. The large study in the Kenway mansion is used to scour the many books of Henry and the Scott twins. Most of it came from the Scott's but even Henry's contribution has been valuable. Each was reading different tomes to see what the key unlocks. A deep sigh leaves Sarah as she throws another book on the table while a hand massages her eyes. It seems she read another book that held no answers.

Meanwhile, Evie was engrossed in the books. The books Sarah and Olivia collected were a treasure trove of information. It held details of Pieces of Eden held by Ezio, Altaïr, and some other Assassins from the past. There were even accounts written down of objects that could have been precursor artefacts. Evie could read for days without getting bored.

"I don't know about you, but I am nearing the end of what I can read," Sarah says with a sigh.

"Sarah! Did you know some objects could even transfer your mind to a dream space? Incredible!" Evie says as she goes through the pages. Her eyes hardly stay still as she tries to read faster and absorb more information.

"Amazing..." Sarah drooled out. Her tone was bored and tired. It has been some hours. Well only two, but Evie guessed it is a lot for someone such as Sarah. For her, this is a day of relaxation.

"You alright?" Evie asks while she kept reading, her fingers turning the page. Her lips are forming a smile as she sees the key. 'This is it!' Evie thought.

"I am now that I see you smiling. Please tell me you found it. I can't take much more of these books! What is it with these writers? They write books that are so boring! At least write it down excitingly," Sarah complains while sinking further into the comfy chair.

"I did! This drawing looks exactly like the key," Evie says and showed her the drawing of a rectangular design. Over the metal were two to three straight lines that went over the metal. The drawing does not show it, but it can softly glow at times. Probably some kind of energy mechanism. Sarah scoots closer and overlooks at the page which causes another deep sigh.

"Of course. The damn thing it unlocks is located in London Tower. It resembles one of the queen's boxes. Lucy must have gone there. It always is one of the most secure places, isn't it?" Sarah says.

"I suppose it is more secure. Important and powerful artefacts are stored away in secure and difficult-to-reach places. Well, shall we?"

"Yes. Let's," Sarah says and rises from her chair with a grunt. She stretches her back and arms as she stands. As she looks at Evie who starting to turn her attention to her, she starts to smile with glee.

"What?" Evie asks as she chuckles. Sarah responded with arms going around her waist and her head snuggling into her the crook of her neck.

"After this little infiltration, I am taking you out for dinner. The best in town. And you can't say no," Sarah says, placing a soft fleeting kiss on Evie's neck.

Warmth. A fluttery and pleasant warmth travels through Evie. This will never get old, Evie thought. She doesn't want it to at least. From each kiss or affectionate touch, she wants to feel the warmth, the butterflies of happiness. It makes her feel that she finally came home from some cold place.

"Sounds perfect!" Evie squeaks out.

"Good. The quicker we get the damn thing, the quicker we can enjoy each other. To that end, I have a gift that will hopefully help. You will love it."

Evie smiles as she winds her arms around the woman. This woman has a heart of gold. How does she not have people lining in the street to take her hand? It makes Evie wonder why she took an interest in her in the first place. Surely there are prettier women around. Let alone people that have more experience or an idea of romance.

"You shouldn't have, Sarah. All this pampering makes me feel guilty. I don't want to live off you or Olivia..." Evie says while firmly embracing the woman. To at least show she cares and appreciates all Sarah does.

"I have not forgotten what you have done for me, Evie dear. Saving Clara, saving me from that sick man. There's nothing you should be guilty about and I wanted to give you this. Come, follow me!" Sarah explains while an arm around Evie is soon urging her to follow. With a smile on her lips, Evie follows.

They exited the room and went across the wing, up the stairs to the floor that held mostly rooms for the residents of the room. There was one for Clara, which was almost never used. Still, Clara made sure to let Olivia and Sarah know she claimed it. Many items were strewn across the floor and a painting of Olivia and Sarah.

Of course, Sarah and Olivia had their rooms on this floor as well. Two of the larger ones. Just like in their old home, it contained paintings of their family. Their mother and one more recent family painting. One where all three female Scotts were together. Sarah walks past all of those and stopped in front of a room just next to Sarah's. Evie knew it was an unused room. Why were they here?

"Just in here. Open the door, Evie," Sarah says motioning to the door with her head and a smile on her lips.

"What did you get for me, Sarah? Please nothing expensive..." Evie says.

"No, nothing expensive. Don't worry, sweetie. Enjoy what I got you," Sarah assured Evie. She wasn't too assured, Sarah can really go all out sometimes. Or so Evie guessed.

As the door opened, Evie saw a well-decorated room. Although, every room was well decorated, this one, in particular, had many items she recognised. Many of them came from her room on the train. Her desk, the many bookshelves filled with too many books, and even a secure place for her weapons. The right wall where the desk was put against was mostly open. Evie thought it was probably for a new painting, even if she wasn't sure what kind.

On the opposite side of the desk was the bed. It was made of much better quality and bigger. Somehow, Evie can hardly wait for the night to jump into bed. On the bed was one wooden box. The design is Italian.

"I should have asked, but I think you wouldn't complain if I transferred all your belongings here. To live with me and my sister. If you don't like it, I can arrange to have everything delivered back to the train," Sarah says as she stands next to Evie, overlooking the room.

"It's- I am humbled, Sarah. You have no idea how happy this makes me. To let me live in your home. It is a wonderful gift," Evie says as she again wraps the woman in her arms. Sarah chuckles as drags Evie to the bed.

"This isn't my gift, Evie. I wanted you here as well if you didn't catch that already. My gift is in this box. It took some time to restore it, but Mister Bell helped me greatly. Go on. Open it."

Without further questioning or delay, Evie took the box from the bed. The dark wood was decorated with a flag. It was one with a tall wall that protected a house. Around the walls were fields with crops. This must have come from abroad as she couldn't think of a place that had such a flag in Great Britain.

The lid was soon opened and within were two bracers made of shining metal. In the middle of each bracer was the Assassin symbol. Around were flowy and very detailed decorations made out of the same metal. It features a leaf or feather-like form at the top part of the Assassin symbol. They featured two striped of equally detailed and flowy designs on the bottom of the symbol. In Evie's opinion, it resembles typical renaissance design.

"This is beautiful, Sarah. Two hidden blades?" Evie asked. Sarah nods as she winds her arms on the waist, her chin resting on Evie's right shoulder.

"Mhm, but not just some hidden blades. They were worn by Ezio Auditore himself. I found them together with Olivia under Monteriggioni," Sarah explains. Evie was shell-shocked as she looks at Sarah. She couldn't believe they survived after hundreds of years.

"They were...?! I can hardly tell by their condition! Unbelievable that such priceless items are still around!" Evie says while examining them more closely. They were marvels of design and quality.

"It took some effort to find them. They were well hidden in the Auditore Villa, but it took more effort to restore them. Mister Bell needed a couple of months to repair the blades and bracers. I believe something about it being old and fragile. But it's yours, Evie. May it help you in the shadows, love."

"Sarah, I can't take this. I already have one hidden blade that functions perfectly. You should have them. All the work-" Evie tries to argue, but she could argue that the soft lips that cut her off were a powerful counter-agreement.

"It's okay," Sarah says as she touches the forehead of Evie. Looking into her ocean-blue eyes. "How about this then? You take one and I take one. We'll share a symbolic... connection? We'll both have a half but together they are whole. A bit cheesy but true."

The box is put on the bed again as Evie turns to Sarah again. Her arms are around the woman. A motion she was more and more doing as time flew by. Sarah was enjoying every time as the lips turn to a content smile.

"Thank you. I love you, Sarah."

"I love you too, dear Evie."
