A gunshot. It sounded from behind the door and made the kidnapper and his accomplice turn around. You took advantage of their inattentiveness and got rid of the strap around your hands in no time, using a technique you learned at the COD.

Kakucho reacted fast as well, he stood up, covering you to hide your rebellious act. You smiled to yourself and released the strap around your ankles.

»Go investigate it!«, the black haired man demanded from the other one. You silently jumped to your feet which still felt kind of numb, yet you managed to free Kakucho from his handcuffs as well.

»What! You-«

»You underestimated us. Not even putting up a real fight one on one, but kidnapping a woman and her accomplice like a real chickenshit!«, Kakucho spat at him.

»He must be afraid of us, Kakucho«, you grinned and supported Bonten's number 3 with the provocation. Yet, the kidnapper only started laughing like a maniac again.

»Hahahahaha oh am I? Then tell me why do I face you myself although it could ruin my reputation as The Phantom?«

HE is The Phantom?

You remembered that guy who you killed when you first met Kakucho. Hell, why was it always him and you when it came to that guy?

It's not that surprising in the end. He was hunting us from the beginning - this man is our enemy. This is our chance to stop him! Still, neither him nor his accomplice ever laid a foot on the COD's premises which means he must work together with someone I know.

»Your journey will end here, (Y/N). First I'll make you watch your friend die and then I'll kill you myself.«, the black haired man grinned and pointed the gun at Kakucho when suddenly the door opened and a figure entered the room.

»Hanma«, The Phantom exclaimed without taking his gaze off of you two. »Take her until I'm finished!«

»Hanma left the party«, a voice who certainly wasn't the kidnapper's accomplice replied. »But sure, I'm here to take her with me and finish you.«

Shocked The Phantom turned around and looked at the man who had just entered the scene. »Who are you?!«

»Your worst nightmare«, the man laid a hand right over his face and grinned, looking at the kidnapper with bloodlust.«

»Sanzu!«, Kakucho snarled. »Save that little act for your fantasies and do something helpful.«

These two really aren't the bestest of friends, are they?

You didn't hesitate further and kicked the gun out of The Phantom's hand with a high kick, then punched him in the stomach. You gripped his hair and pulled his face towards you, growling at him: »Who the fuck are you and who is COD's traitor?«

The man glanced at his right and then turned his gaze back at you with an arrogant smile on your face. »Say goodbye little ...«

»(Y/N) CAREFUL!«, Kakucho reached out to you when suddenly a sharp pain occurred on your left hip. The kidnapper teared himself away from you and picked up his gun from the floor, pointing it at you.

»Get the fuck away from her!«, Sanzu growled and released the safety of his gun, pointing it at the black haired man. He came to a halt beside you, when Kakucho reached for the hem of your dress, pulling you behind him.

»Don't move or you might bleed to death. Stay behind me!«, he placed himself beside Sanzu and shielded you from the enemy. You, however, glanced down at where the pain was coming from, realising that a little arrow was sticking inside your hip.

Wait...when...who...

Dizziness overcame you when you stared at the metallic foreign matter.

It came from my left, didn't it?

You put all your strength in the will to look to your left but it felt like an eternity until you managed to do so. But then you spotted someone; it was a manly looking figure, dressed in black attire. He was wearing a mask and a beanie, his eyes were hidden by sunglasses. As soon as you spotted him, he flinched.

»Leave! They can't know your identity!«, someone shouted and you assumed it was The Phantom since the assassin complied with the order. When he left the room through a back door, you spotted a weapon in his hands and the sight of it made your heart drop. It was a special weapon only the COD had access to. It was a firearm which contained a certain amount of small arrows.

Realisation came over you and you felt like throwing up. Once you used such a weapon yourself, now you were the one falling victim to it. This was a problem. A huge problem. Because the arrow which sticked out of your hip right now wasn't a normal one, it was...

»...poisoned«, your voice sounded raspy and then, for the second time in this night, you lost your consciousness.

»Her condition is stable, no need to worry«, a calm female voice announced.

Then footsteps and a door closing.

»It's still confusing why this guy willingly gave us the antidote«, a man said.

»I don't fucking care about that, she's alive, isn't that what matters?!«

»It seemed to me that his deepest desire was to see her suffer«

»So you think he wants to kill her himself?«

»That's likely«

It sounded like there were three men talking to each other.

»What about his accomplice, was it really him?«

»Yes, it was Hanma, no doubt about that. He even brought up old stuff while I was their hostage. Tried to make me brawl with him.«

»And, Brawler, was he successful? At least you really were a sucker for Izana back then«, those words sounded like they were spoken with a grin on the face.

»It's none of your business, you fucker. Stop talking about stuff you don't know about«, the other male was growling at this point.

»Quit the inside fights or I'll kill the both of you!«

Silence.

»Now where did Hanma go?«

»Ran and Rindou opposed him but this coward managed to escape thanks to this other guy. The one who shot (Y/N).«

»That's unfavourable. He's a menace for Bonten, since he knows all of you by name.«

»Now that's fucking bothersome«

»How did you escape the scene without any wounds?«

»After I shot that bastard, Hanma and this other guy turned up again so it was a 3 on 3, with (Y/N) unconscious and the black haired motherfucker injured. I think this asshole only spared our lives because he wanted us to save (Y/N) since he already had to save himself.«

»He'll surely come back and we have to prepare for that. Give me an accurate description of the kidnapper by today evening.«

»Yes, Sir«

»Ah by the way Sanzu«

»Y-Yes Mikey?«

»How did you know where to find them?«

»I...«

A groan escaped your mouth and you slowly managed to open your eyes. The light of the room you were in blinded you which made you squeeze your eyes shut again. Another groan; your head hurt.

»(Y/N)!«, a blurry figure was approaching you. He had white hair and rings under his eyes, his gaze seemed rather dead than lively but for a second you assumed to spot a slight glimmer of worry and relief in it.

»M...Mikey-kun?«

»Oi, you should call him Sir or-«

»Shut up, Sanzu. I'll allow her.«

»Huh?!«

»Mikey?«, your vision cleared up. »Can we talk, just the two of us?«

»...alright. You two, leave!«, he gestured towards Sanzu and Kakucho. They nodded.

Wow, I'm in a sick room with Japan's Top Three delinquents. If someone had told me this a month ago I would have laughed at them while making them regret their life decisions. Now I should be the one regretting things, shouldn't I? Yet, somehow it all feels like it's in place. Especially when I'm alone with Mikey...there's something familiar about him...

»What is it?«, he demanded to know and you wanted to reply but only a cough was leaving your mouth. Suddenly, Mikey took a step towards you, placing his hand on your forehead as to feel the temperature. Surprisingly his gaze softens. »Are you feeling alright?«

You blushed, astonished by your boss' odd behaviour. »Y-Yes, I think so.«

He retreated his hand and seated himself on a chair beside your bed. »Do you remember what happened?«

»Yes, I do...«, you were thinking back to the situation. »So is everyone alright? Sanzu, Ran, Rindou, and Kakucho? How long was I unconscious?«

»They are. You're the only one to worry about. Around 2 hours have passed since you escaped the enemy's grasp.«

»Oh...I see...good to hear that!«

»...«

»Mikey, I- sorry, is it really fine if I call you by your first name?«

»You already did it anyway. What do you have to tell me?«

»Alright, so this kidnapper...he's the one we were searching for. I think he might be from my past. No, I am sure here is.«, you were trying your best to sort your thoughts but it took you some time, since you still felt a little dizzy. »And the one who attacked me with the poisoned arrow, he must be the traitor from the COD. Only our- only this organisation has such weapons at their disposal.«

»Did you see who it was?«

»Sadly not, he was completely disguised«

»And the kidnapper? Do you remember anything about him?«

»I-«, your heartbeat increased and your breath became more shallow, thinking about the memories that you got back during this whole fucked up happening. »When he said a certain sentence to me, I suddenly remembered various things.«

»What did he say?«

»He said: „It's all your fault and you will pay for it!". And then suddenly I was overwhelmed with heartwarming and heart-clenching memories...«

»What memories?«

»There was blood...a lot of blood. And a boy, I think it was the kidnapper but much younger. One time he was laughing, another time he was looking at me with pure hatred. And then there also was another person. I think it was a boy as well and his aura differed from the kidnapper's one. I wasn't able to see his face though. But I clearly remember his words. He said: „No matter what may happen in the future, if you tell me you need me, I'll be there.".«

Wow, I remember the whole thing. It's as if this sentence is replaying in my head over and over again since the moment I remembered it.

Mikey's eyes widened for a second and then he just stood up, asking: »Was there anything else you wanted to talk about?«

»No. This time I just wanted to tell you everything from the beginning.«

»Good. I'll leave then. Kakucho will pick you up later. I want the two of you to get out of Tokyo for a bit until things calmed down.«

»Alright Mi...key.«

Bonten's leader had left the room and closed it's door behind himself before you could even finish saying his name. Dumbfounded you stared at the closed door.

Why is his behaviour so unpredictable all the time? But he seemed rather emotional today compared to usually, didn't he?

Mikey

As soon as Mikey had left, he exhaled deeply and let himself slip down to the ground, his back leaning against the door of your sick room. He didn't expect you to remember crumbs about your shared past that fast. There was an inner conflict inside him; on the one hand he wanted you to remember everything about him but on the other he didn't. He was afraid of letting someone he loves too close to him ever again, since he didn't know himself what he would do. Or he knew and he knew that he wasn't able to control these dark impulses at some point.

At least that was also the reason why he had kept Takemitchy's promise back then to protect them all. He pushed away all of them, everyone who he ever cherished. Draken, Pah and Peh, Mitsuya and Hakkai, Chifuyu, Takemichi and the rest. All his life he had suffered in silence with only Sanzu staying by his side. He was kind of grateful for him, yet it didn't ease any of his pain. If only he could go back to that day you had confessed your love to him...

After some moments of grieving, Mikey forced himself to stand up again. He needed to talk to the Executives about the information he got from you. It added up to the things Koko had told him earlier that day...

»I'm deeply sorry, Boss. I know I should have told you, it was wrong of me. My reasons to hide this information from you were inconsequential. Yet, I did some other things to assure Bonten's safety. I bought (Y/N) a new phone and switched them up during the party night. I inspected her old phone but only found some phone numbers of her old co-workers and some pictures of random street cats.«

»I see. That must be enough proof that I can entrust you with handling certain businesses on your own. You did well. I heard you also provide (Y/N)'s financial safety?«

»Yes, I do.«

»Good. I won't give her any missions yet. I'll tell you and the others more details soon. You're dismissed for now.«

In remembrance of this conversation, Mikey went down the hallway, soon enough reaching the Headquarter's main room where the Exevutives were waiting for him and his order.
As soon as he entered, the room fell into silence.

»Everyone, listen up«

Ahhhh Mikey is slowly softening around (Y/N)! And she'll spend some time with Kakucho soon!

I'm excited for what is yet to come and can't wait to write it all down.
