"It was suppose to be a two-man operation. Two! But having Alex on our team I allowed because he has powers however Joyce!"
"Yeah we'll change of plans." She argued
"Change of plans?" Hopper asked furiously walking quickly next to Alex who stayed quiet during this whole argument
"Yeah will you explain it to him please?" Joyce told Murray
"We have to options here Jim we can turn the Machine off or you can explode it"
"Yeah says who?" Hopper asked
"Says the person who built it! and we wanna explode it" Murray explained further
"Or our heroic efforts would be for naught this is a four man operation Jim" Joyce spoke
"We would need Alex to explode the machine and that could kill him!" Hopper shouted frustration setting in. They all stayed silent at the realisation
"I'm willing to risk that." He said, this was the first words he had spoken since his departure from the party
"No no no, you promised me that you would not try anything"
"I've already been in here, I can talk to the Russian guards with Murray and if I need to I will do it okay." Alex told his father with a stern voice

After Hoppers little extravagant shooting scene in front of the elevator Alex led them to a vehicle
"I need to hide in the back they already know what I look like and if they see me they'll know your not real" Alex told them
Hopper sat in the front with Joyce in the back with Alex
"Can I help you?" A Russian guard asked Murray as they reached the end of the tunnel
"Picking up"
"Do I know you?" The Russian guard asked suspiciously
"New arrivals. Landed last night." Murray responded
"Say goodbye to sunlight." The guard told him
Who needs sunlight when we have one another, comrade? Murray asked trying to sound usual
The man opened the door for them
"Why were you talking so much?" Alex scolded
"He was a nice guard" Murray argued in defence
"Yeah I mean we should probably invite him over after all this is done" Alex said sarcastically

"We reached the vent I'll contact you when I need you until the silence" Murray spoke
"Roger that bald eagle this is scoops troop going radio silent 10-10 over" Dustin said excited his plan was in action
Alex was holding back a laugh smiling at hopper who was also holding back his laugh
"I hate children" Murray sighed

Hopper was pacing it had been over 10 minutes since Murray's departure and he was stressed
"It's taking too long" he said
Alex looked at his fathers face taking pity on the old man.
"It's fine" Alex said trying to calm the his father down
"No it's not. Its not. You and El both could of died back there hell you looked like you had almost died" he said continuing to pace
"Well Alex is with us and El she's on her way to Murray's and that thing won't find her" Joyce told him "not before we kill it"
Alex walked away as he felt like His dad and Joyce were having a conversation that was no longer about him and El
He sat in a corner by himself and thought about Max. God what had this girl done to him. She's been all he could think about, all he could worry about. How his heartbeat would rise at the sight of her, how his hands would get sweaty if she held them. Or how his bipolar disorder sort of calmed down whenever she was with him.
He was gonna come back for her. He promised he would and that's the end of it.
"Bald eagle had landed, I repeat bald eagle has landed" Murray spoke through the walkie and Alex rushed to Hopper and Joyce.
"Hurry up lovebird's and lovesick your almost up to bat"
Alex rolled his eyes at the nicknames and continued to run with Hopper and Joyce pretending to be a soldier
This worked significantly better than he expected but then again his height and muscle form made no one question us age
"Oh shit, Murray those numbers aren't the planks constant!" Alex screamed into the walkie now wanting this mission to be over
Dustin then called susie and she turns out she was real
They had a little rendition of never ending story with Alex in his opinion could not care less waiting In hope for suzie to know the planks constant
Finally they finished and she gave it to them and Hopper put in the code. When then opened the door they spotter the machine.
"Holy shit that is big" Alex said in a deep Russian accent as other scientists were in the room
They had gotten the key and walked to the control panel
"This is it." Alex said with a smile of victory on his face

Before they could turn the key the Russian leader who had chased Joyce and Hopper through Illinois started to fight hopper
The fight was taken all the way to the machine and Alex was watching trying to obey the promise he made with Hopper but his heart just wouldn't allow it
He ran to Hopper punching the Russian guard and using his powers against him
With one finally push Alex shoved the man into the machine blood splatting everywhere
As Hopper and Alex stood together on the platform they immediately knew what must be done.
And for the first time in a very long time Alex let the tears run down his face. He side hugged his dad
Hopper, I wanna thank you for everything, for taking in me and el and I wanna thank you for being the best dad anyone could ever have. I love you so fucking much and we go down together no matter what. I love you dad" Alex said and those were his final words before both him and Hopper nodded there heads at Joyce telling her to turn the key
In those few seconds Alex thought 2 years ago meeting the party in the woods, he thought of all the good times he, hopper and El spent playing board games and most importantly he thought of Max how she took him to the arcade when he ad nowhere to go, how her smile lit up at the arcade
He thought of the promise he made to Max and how he knew he had broken it.
"I'm sorry max" was all he said and a huge white light emitted from the machine.

Joyce stood in the middle of the parking lot at starcourt mall
Her heart was aching Alex who she had thought of as her own son and Hopper had gone.
Will spotted her and ran to her hugging her tightly. El and Max stood together staring at Joyce with a questioning look.
Joyce just looked back at them mouthing I'm sorry as tears poured down her eyes
"No no no no no!" El screamed she fell to her knees. Her brother and her father are dead. She couldn't comprehend it her head hurt her eyes were dry as all her tears were used
Max stood there holding El
Her heart was broken she never knew heartbreak felt like this
It felt like her heart had been ripped in two and melted
"You promised me, you godamn promised me Alexander Jordan" Max whispered holding El tight as they both mourned over Alex
