"How do I look?" Hermione asked, spinning around in her pink dress.
"Gorgeous as always, love." You said, admiring her whilst lying on your bed.
"You should also get dressed (Y/n), the Ball is about to start soon."
Hermione looked at herself in the mirror, waiting for you to answer. Only to be greeted by a gust of silence.
"(Y/n)? Are you okay?" She turned around to look at you, who seemed to have spaced out all of a sudden.
"(Y/n)!" She yelled, snapping her fingers.
"Huh? What?" You asked, finally brought back to reality.
"(Y/n), is everything okay?" She asked, sitting next to you on the bed.
"Yeah, I'm good. A bit nervous I guess?" You forced a smile, knowing you had just lied to your friend.
You couldn't stop thinking about Draco.

You were wearing your (f/c) dress, walking to the Yule Ball along side Hermione.
"You ready?" You asked.
Hermione gave a nervous gulp, nodding her head slightly.
"Worst case scenario, I mess things up and make a fool out of myself." She said jokingly.
You could tell she wasn't fully joking however.
"You've got this. Go." You said, slightly pushing her forward.
Gasps and awes were heard everywhere around the room. Hermione was on the edge of the steps, looking back at you.
"Go!" You mouthed, giving her a smile.
She walked down the steps, catching everyone's attention. You looked at her from the top of the steps, knowing you were next.
"Granger you look amazing!"
Cedric..?
"Do you happen to know where (Y/n) is?"
Hermione pointed up the steps, and your eyes met.
Cedric gazed at you as you looked back at him.
You slowly walked down the steps, avoiding eye contact.
Draco was right.
"(Y/n), you look.. stunning." Cedric said, holding you in his arms.
"Thanks.."
"Is everything okay?" He asked.
You didn't reply and pushed his hands away.
"If this is about yesterday then I'm sorry. Everyone was congratulating me, I couldn't even leave to go help you." He apologized, holding your hands in his.
"Forgiven." You replied, even thought your heart still hurt a bit, you understood his point of view.
"Now, my I have this dance m'lady?" He asked, holding his hand out and giving a bow.
You giggled and left to the dance floor with him.

Draco's pov
It should've been me.
I should've been the one to ask her out.
Diggory just beat me to it.

Cedric' pov
"Oi, Diggory."
I turned around to see Malfoy.
"Did you need something Malfoy..?"
I was never close with him. So I wasn't sure why he was suddenly talking to me.
To congratulate me I suppose.
I just won the Second Task after all.
"You're an idiot, you know?" He said, throwing me a wet towel.
I looked at the towel, confused.
What was he up to?
"Don't mean to ruin your victory moment Diggory, but your little girlfriend is freezing and weak as hell right now." He said.
That's right.. (Y/n)!
She's been in the lake for the whole night I assume. She must be cold.
"Thank you for the reminder Malfoy." I said, running off with the towel.
I tried looking for (Y/n), but she was already gone.
She's strong. She'll be fine.

The Yule Ball had ended. (A/N : cutting out the Ronmione angst to keep this as shipper friendly as possible)
You had an absolute blast with Cedric, and Hermione seemed to enjoy herself.
People were heading back to their dorms to turn in for the night.
You, were looking for Draco.
"Hey (Y/n), you look amazing." You turned to see Harry.
"Not so bad yourself Harry." You said.
"Have you seen Draco?" You asked.
Harry lifted an eyebrow at you.
"Draco..? You mean Malfoy?"
"Yeah! Stupid Malfoy!" You quickly said, just realizing you called him with a first name basis.
"I think he's by the fountain." Harry pointed.
You quickly thanked him and headed over.
There he was. Draco Malfoy.
