Avella was not prone to love in that type of way. Nott knew about the marriage. He never cared.
It was near the spring term. She was minding her own business in Astronomy when Tom took his place next to her, which shocked everyone. Even Dorea and a fuming Lucretia. Parkinson was still on Malfoy. Surprisingly.
"What on earth are you doing, Tom?" She whispered to him
"Feeling you might need company, seeing you sitting alone makes me sad." He replied lowly
Why was he being considerate? Was it all a show?
"Tom stop it. I'm not going to tell you about the chamber, nor I'm not falling inlove with you. You are too evil to even think to be associated with" she tried to turn away
"I wouldn't go that far. Besides, we make a good team" he nudged her
"No. We really don't" she sighed back
"Look, about the other night. I'm over it. I am going to be Mrs Nott, soon. I can't mess this up, my family will disown me if I reject. I am all Octivian's now." She turned and looked him in the eyes
"You are unhappy, Lessie" he replied
"And you think you can make me happier?" She looked at him with a bored look on her face
"I believe I can. I'll bring you happiness anybody can ask for" he fiddled with his fingers
She didn't know if she could trust him.
They were learning about star constellations. She felt Tom's rigid presence next to her. Muttering things under his breath about how much the subject was stupid. Until they had to study them, they shared a book. It was about the zodiacs.
"I believe I am a Capricorn." He huffed
"I believe I am a Scorpio." Avella admitted
Until the Professor came over
"Oh my my! Capricorn and Scorpio, highly compatible, loads in common. You two make a good match" she smiled and walked away
"Is she out of her mind?! We are not compatible." Avella shifted in her seat
"Easy easy, Avella. It's true on the stars we are meant to be" he lied
He didn't care about stars. He only cared about the chsmber and the prophecy. Not that she knew.
"This is wrong, everything about us is wrong. Haunt me if you will I'll never succumb to your love." She spat
"Lessie. Why do you never let anyone in? Let me in, I am the only one to make you feel what you must." He came closer
"You think I'll make this easy for you? No. I know you thought getting to me was easy. Didn't you?" She read him like a book
He admitted he was naïve thinking he could win her heart. Her heart is the only way to know where the chamber is. If he gets her to love him and visa versa. He will unlock everything.
"I am not one to be tampered with. But all I ask is for your hand, your love and melt my poor heart"
He tried to be sad, he got his hand and out it to his heart
Her eyes went wide. They had never really had contact since the kiss.
"You fell this heart. It is not full without you" he cringed
He hated saying these weird things to a girl. But anything for Slytherin.
She snatched her hand away
"Leave me alone." She internally blocked him out
"You cannot lock me out forever. I will not go away until you do so. I..love you." He turned with desperation to her
"No. Tom. I am for Nott now. If you want someone that bad, go back to Lucretia." Avella hated his face
dropped
"My allegiance is to you. You are the one I am destined to love. I put my vow upon my word" He looks at her desperately
"No. I hate you, upon my word I shall forever repel you." She got her books and walked out the classroom unattended. The Professor looked from the door to Tom who's everyone's eyes were on him. He looked embarrassed but didn't show it.
"Looks like someone's finally rejected the Tom Riddle" one of the classmates muttered under their breath
Indeed they have. And many times.
"What the matter, is she okay?" The Professor asked Tom
"Adequate. I shall seek for her" he gathered his things and ran after her
He saw her sitting under an oak tree overlooking the lake. A book in hand.
"Never thought I'd see you here, Lessie" he came behind her and sat
"I don't need to answer to you. And, I don't think I ought to see such a fiend like you." Her voice rang through his ears
"I'm disgusting to you?" He asked surprised
"Most certainly. You think me like that aswell" she sighed
Deep down he never did. Ever since she saved him that night in the restricted section he knew he could trust her more than ever. He never felt emotion but her saying those words made him different.
"I don't not think those thoughts of you." He turned away
His hair was perfect. She looked at him in a manner of staring. Not that she knew she was entranced by his eyes.
"What do you think of me?" She asked coming closer
"I cannot say." He gulped
He wanted to express his love but never knew how to. For all he never felt the significance of love until he met Avella Lestrange.
"You must. I may think different about you. Who knows I could've lied." She said in a manner
He wanted to express to her badly. But he didn't want to feel vulnerable. He had never felt so vulnerable to someone he believed himself to hate.
"I beg for you love, Avella."
"Keep begging. It's amusing to watch you under my eye. Like being an owner of a dog." She joked
"You watch your pretty mouth or who knows I'll be the owner one day. Mostly to the whole wizarding world" he sternly replied
They only made Lestrange burst out with laugher. Tom froze as he was trying to intimidate her. But she wasn't fazed
"You? Conquering the whole of the wizarding world, I'll believe it when I see it." She replied
"There is not word of a lie I have told to you. But you'll be surprised I am not a handsome face" he looked at her smile, which made him want to smile. But couldn't
"You only love me because of the chamber. Why do you want it badly, what do you do down there?"
The curious Gryffindor turned to the Slytherin heir
"Something that would do the school good. What the school needed to do in the first place" Tom looked out from under the oak tree
"Like what? You know I think we might need separate girls bathroom, no girls go in there because of Mrytle Warren. She takes up the whole bathroom itself with her moping." Lestrange rolled her eyes
"Warren is none of my concern." He scoffed
"Then what is?"
"You." He wanted to get this over with but he couldn't help notice how beautiful natured this girl really was. No love, he can't be inlove. Tom inlove?! He knows he is not capable, but he has to, to try and achieve his goal
She couldn't help it but hide the blush. She forgot for a moment she was Nott's now. Everything about her was his.
"You are worthy, my dear Avella. No one but you are worthy of it. I will cherish you more than I cherish myself. If only you wouldn't reject my existence and love. We would be endgame, you cannot reject me whilst I'm at large. I love you and how many times do I have to say it. For months you've been my been my light, my love. Please take this as a token of my love" he placed his hand on hers
She didn't know, but she knew Tom was great at persuading. He had been trying for months on end. But her stubborn self wouldn't seem to budge
But will she budge this time?
