Dear depression,
You've torn me down to pieces,
Ripped me right in half.
All I want is an explanation.
I believe you owe me that.
I see the world in shades of black.
Though this view can be insightful,
I must admit that it is sad.
I always feel pathetic.
I have you to blame you for that.
If I were to paint a smile
It would be fashioned out of red.
Red from the spilt blood
Of all the gashes in my head.
They ask me why,
Why I feel so sad.
But I cannot break from this sadness
With you always tied to my back.
They say it would be easy
For me to break you off so fast.
But they have never been me.
They wouldn't understand
That when dealing with depression,
Nothing works just like that.
Dear depression,
I believe you've finally won.
I whisper this to myself
As I load and aim your gun.
