Previously,

Imlie sat up on the bed and said in excitement, "ABP, you never told me Mumma-Papa's love story."

Aryan also sat up hearing her words.
"You want to know the story. Now?" He asked.

Imlie nodded her head eagerly, making herself comfortable as she rested her back against the headboard.

Aryan smiled at her excitement and placed his head on her lap, laying on the bed.

Ab aage:

"So let's start...", Aryan started but stopped in the middle and sat up on the bed.

"Imlie, why don't we go out in the balcony? It is very hot in here, and as it is we are not sleepy either." He asked.

Imlie nodded in acceptance and grabbed their blanket and started towards balcony. She halted in the middle as he didn't follow, she turned towards him and raised her eyebrows in question.

"You go and sit there. I'll make some hot chocolate for both of us and join you."
Aryan said.

Imlie although amazed, only nodded and moved towards the balcony.

10 minutes later, Aryan came to the balcony with two glasses in his hands and saw Imlie sitting on the cozy couch with her eyes closed and the blanket wrapped around her.

Her hair was flowing softly due to the breeze. Her face looked peaceful and serene.

As if sensing his presence, she opened her eyes and saw him. Aryan placed the glasses on the small table before them and joined her on the couch. Imlie unwrapped the blanket slightly, inviting him to join her.

Aryan moved closer, wrapped one of his hands on her shoulder and then covered them both in the blanket, then handed her the hot chocolate.

Both sipped the hot chocolate peacefully, before Aryan broke the silence,

"Imlie, Rathores were not always this affluent. My grandfather, Adarsh Singh Rathore was a rebel. He went against his father's will and married my grandmother, Advaita.
Their's was a middle class family of 4.
My father, Arjun Singh Rathore was the first born and my Chachu, Ashish Singh Rathore was 2 years younger than him.
Papa always used to tell me that he was very much closer to Dadu, while Chachu was close to Dadi.
After completing his secondary education, papa opted for Architecture while Chachu went for Business Management.
Papa met Mumma on the first day of college. He always said that it was a love at first sight for him.
Mumma was an orphan and she had won a scholarship for the Architecture program."

Imlie cut him in the middle and exclaimed with a huge smile on her face, "Aww.. College love story? I love it already."

Aryan smiled and nodded,
"Well, it started with friendship. According to papa, mumma was always a cheerful, bubbly, fierce and an impetuous woman. Just like you."
Imlie blushed at that.

Aryan continued,
"Soon Dadu-Dadi met mumma and immediately formed a close bond with her. She was like a daughter to them. And shortly, she fell in love with papa.
As soon as both completed their education, they got jobs in good firms.
That's when things started to go downhill.
Dadu was diagnosed with Coronary heart disease and his condition was worsening day by day.
He wanted mumma-papa to get married before his death and they complied. They were married at the age of 24.
Dadi couldn't cope up with Dadu's absence and the loneliness and she also passed away in her sleep.
Papa and chachu were demoralized and mumma was there to support them. She couldn't break down when both of them needed her the most.
She stood as a rock for them and became the pillar of strength for the Rathore family."

He stopped talking, almost on the verge of tears.
Imlie hugged him tightly from sideways.

Aryan continued,
"Then mumma-papa laid out the plan for Rathore Group, it was their dream since the college days. Rathore Group was their brainchild, it became their raison d'être. It was like their first child.
They started it on a small scale. They had saved some capital and got some more finance from selling a few properties. It was started to cope up with the loneliness they felt in the absence of their elders and to fulfill their parents' dreams. They worked hard, day and night to make it successful. And when chachu joined them, they became stronger. It was difficult in the beginning, to find investors, to attract the crowd, to manage everything, to hire best employees. But they didn't lose their hope.
And they weren't disappointed. Rathore Group started gaining momentum in a couple of years. They were happy and satisfied with their work."

Imlie looked at Aryan and there was a proud smile on his face. His eyes were shining in the dim lights of the balcony. She tightened her hold on his arm. It was surreal to him like this.

It happened rarely that Aryan expressed his emotions like this. His actions always spoke louder than his words.
Though she had noticed many changes in Aryan after their marriage.

Imlie snuggled closer to him and said, "Continue please."

Aryan looked at her with a soft expression on his face and kissed on her temple.
"Rathore Group became successful and the family was content. Then Narmada maa, I mean Chachi joined the family. She and chachu had a love marriage. Mumma-papa adored the couple. The four became a close knit family. They were a happy, peaceful and strong family.
Their happiness was doubled when chachi's pregnancy was announced, they were going to have a tiny member in their home. Then Arpita didi was born and their happiness had no limits, she was papa and chachu's princess. Her arrival brought more success to the Rathore Group, she was literally a form of Lakshmi in their lives."

Both smiled remembering Arpita. She was the best elder sister both of them could have. A perfect blend of maturity, naughtiness, intelligence and motherly warmth.

"Mumma and papa also desired to have their own little family. They wanted a baby who would be a combination of both of them, a little bundle of joy who would be the reason of their happiness. They were trying for a baby for a long time, but were disappointed every time. They had consulted the best doctors but there was no improvement.
Mumma was disheartened. She badly wanted a baby on whom she could shower her love, affection and give him/her warmth and care.
Papa was distraught seeing her like that. And to distract her from the grief, he proposed a plan to expand Rathore Group in the Hospitality Industry. Mumma was always passionate about her work, so it was easy to distract her mind. She momentarily let go of her motherhood dream and got busy in taking Rathore Group of Companies to higher levels.
And then there was the biggest surprise of her life, her biggest happiness when she found out that she had conceived.
Both were ecstatic with the news and mumma was over the moon."

Imlie smiled widely hearing him. Motherhood is indeed a very blissful journey.
Blood rushed to her cheeks as she imagined herself in that state, carrying her and Aryan's baby.
She closed her eyes tightly in embarrassment when she felt Aryan's gaze on her. She was thankful that he couldn't see her flushed face in the darkness.

Aryan was amused seeing Imlie. She had her eyes closed and a tiny smile was playing on her lips.
"Imlie?" He called her name.

Imlie opened her eyes slowly and looked at him. She cleared her throat and said, "Aage bolo."

Imlie noticed a very grim expression on his face, his face contoured with pain.
"You can stop if you are not comfortable." She said softly.

Aryan shook his head and said, "I want to tell you. You should be knowing this."

He inhaled sharply and continued,
"Mumma and papa were super excited for the arrival of their baby.
But their happiness was short lived. Mumma couldn't survive after my birth. Due to severe bleeding and high blood pressure, she passed away after the delivery."

Imlie gasped at his words. She leapt in Aryan's lap and hugged him.
Aryan tightened hugged her back tightly and nuzzled his face in her hair.

Imlie could feel his tears on her skin.
Her heart clenched thinking of the baby Aryan who didn't feel his mother's love, care, affection and warmth.
She can't even imagine her life without her Amma and to know that Aryan didn't even get to feel his mother was heartbreaking.
She let him cry out his pain in her arms.

Now she can understand what he must have gone through when Narmada had said those words.
She felt anger bubbling in her nerves. How could Kakimaa even bring herself to say that to Aryan?
She very well knew that she was the only mother figure in Aryan's life.
Then, how dare she spew that nonsense? She was going to give Narmada a piece of her mind when she would meet her.

Imlie tightened her hold on him, to give him some comfort and could feel him relaxing in the hug.

A few minutes later, she broke the hug and gave a lingering kiss on his forehead. Aryan closed his eyes, blissful.

As Imlie realised that she was sitting in his lap, she tried to move away but Aryan enclosed his arms tightly around her.
"Just be like this." He mumbled.

Imlie brought her hands around his neck and rested her cheek against his shoulder, getting more comfortable.

"Papa was devastated. What would he do without her, how would he survive? She was his lifeline, his reason of living after his parents' death. She was his strength and his life was dependent on her. His world was collapsed. He had lost his anchor, his support, his pillar of strength. He didn't know what to do. He was left alone in the world with a crying baby in his arms.
Chachu-Chachi were shattered. Mumma was the pillar of Rathore family, she was the one who had held the family together. How would they live without her?
Papa was broken. But he had to learn to live without her, he had to cope up without her, for their son. He decided to make a new beginning in his life with his son. He became both father and a mother for his baby. It was hard, but he had to do it. He was grateful for the support from the family.
Then onwards his son and the Rathore Group of Companies became the most important parts of his life. He took the business to greater levels, just like mumma wanted to. His son became the reason of his living.
He gave the love of both the parents to me. I didn't know my mother from birth, so it didn't bother me that I didn't have a mumma like all other kids had in school. I was sometimes teased in school for not having a mother, but I was not affected by that. I knew that my Papa was there for me always and that was enough for me.
Papa always used to take me to the office when I didn't have school. He never left me alone at home, I was always glued to him."

Aryan had a small smile on his face as he recalled the moments with his father.
Imlie also had a smile playing on her lips, as she heard Aryan speaking so fondly about Papa.
She placed a gentle kiss on his right cheek. Aryan smiled at her sudden act.

"Papa was my best friend, I could share anything and everything with him. He was my best buddy. We used to play together, go for shopping, watch movies, long drives, have our favorite chaat, eat kulfi in winters, going to adventure parks, cracking silly jokes and what not. He was my life."

Aryan paused and took a deep breath before continuing,

"I was eighteen when he suffered a massive heart attack and I became an orphan. I didn't know how to survive then. He was my lifeline, my hope, my idol, my everything.
Then I started the illegal fighting. I wanted a distraction from life, so I started inflicting pain on myself to forget that agony. Silly, I know.
That was until Arvind Jiju came into my life. He became the person whom I could look up to, he became my support, my friend, my brother. He made me get rid of the illegal fighting.
But again how could my life be all happy and blissful? That wretched article took his life.
And here I am. Afraid of losing my loved ones."

He completed with a sigh and took a long breath. Then looked at Imlie for a reaction.

Imlie was speechless. She couldn't fathom how much hardship Aryan had faced in his life. The pain, the struggle, the loss he had faced is just unimaginable.

She couldn't help but admire him more for the most amazing and strong person he had become even after facing so much loss in his life.
She was so proud of him.

She felt lucky that this amazing person is hers now. She couldn't help but fall a little more for him.

She was determined to be his strength, his support, his comfort, his family and to give him all the love he deserved.
She was going to be there with him until the last breath of her life.

Imlie untangled her hands from his neck and gently cupped his face.

Aryan was surprised. What was she trying to do?

She slowly kissed his forehead and Aryan closed his eyes in bliss.
She continued to give feather light kisses on his eyes, cheeks, nose and on his chin just like he had kissed her earlier that night.

He still had his eyes closed, basking in her love. His heart was beating at a fast rate.
He felt her breath on his lips and waited in anticipation.

Imlie threaded her hands into his soft hair, pulled him closer and her lips descended on his as they met for a soft kiss. Aryan's arms curled around her waist as he kissed her back without a delay. Their lips molded into one another as they kissed each other fervently. Her fingers played with his hair on the back of his neck as her tongue sweeped across the seam of his lips swiftly and she tasted the chocolate from earlier. Aryan groaned as he felt her tongue on his lips, which sent ripples of pleasure through out his body.

They broke the kiss breathless, gasping for air.

Aryan nuzzled against her neck, running his nose along the length of her neck. Then peppered soft kisses all over the soft skin of her neck.

Sparks shot through her body and Imlie felt a pool of heat in the pit of her stomach that made her breathless.

He stopped his sweet assault and breathed deeply against her skin, her mild scent calming his nerves. Imlie clenched her fingers in his hair.

This was a new sensation both felt for the first time, with each other. A feeling of pleasure and belonging to each other.

Once both caught their breaths, Aryan took her in a loving embrace.

"I love this bold side of yours." He whispered.
Imlie felt her face heating hearing him. She just tightened her hold on him in response.

After a few moments, Aryan parted from her slightly and said-
"Waise Imlie?"

Imlie hummed in response.

"Have you noticed that the names in Rathore family start with an 'A'?"
He asked.

Her eyes twinkled in realisation, "Yes. I did. Is there any particular reason behind that?"

"I don't really know. But I was thinking something." He said.
But Imlie failed to notice the mischievous glint in his eyes.

"What?" Imlie asked in confusion.

"Hmm... Are we going to continue this trend with our children?" He asked innocently.
And pressed his lips together, trying not to laugh at her reaction.

Imlie eyes widened in horror hearing him and her heart skipped a beat. Did he somehow read her mind that she was thinking about their children?

"W-what?" She spluttered.

Aryan finally burst into laughter seeing her comical expressions.

Imlie didn't know why was he laughing like this. But she liked his laughter. He looked so carefree and young.
When he didn't stop for a long time she got irritated and realisation hit her hard that he was having fun at her expense.

She hit him on his shoulder and tried to move away from him, but he didn't leave her.

His laughter subsided as he spoke, "Okay. Sorry. I won't laugh anymore."

"But seriously, should we continue the trend?" He asked again, to rile her up.

Imlie was not the one to back down,
"I think we should. Do you have any names ready in your mind?" She asked with a smirk on her face.
She very well knew how to get back at him.

Aryan's lips parted in shock. He didn't expect this. Oh! But he loved the comeback. He wasn't going to accept that, however.

He blinked, thinking for a better comeback but couldn't find one.

Imlie giggled merrily, seeing him speechless.
"You are so cute!" She cooed.

"Whatever" Aryan said nonchalantly.

Imlie placed her head on his chest, near his heart feeling tired with the day's events. This day was one of the best days of her life.
They went on a beautiful date, learnt more about each other, had their first kiss, he shared his past with her, they kissed again this time more passionately and then laughed together. Definitely a good day.

She heard the steady rhythm of his heart beats and her tired eyes closed as she fell into a peaceful slumber.

Aryan looked down at her face, as she slept peacefully on him. A warmth spreading in his heart in satisfaction.

He gently lifted her in his arms and walked into their room and placed her on the bed carefully, then joined her on the bed.
Involuntarily, Imlie moved closer and snuggled to him.
Aryan closed his eyes in content and slipped into a peaceful sleep.
