It's been a week since I've started my new job. I haven't talked to Jasper or Maddox.
Other than working everyday while balancing college, I've spent a lot of time with Maya and Ivy. The coach has been killing the guys with practice and Xavier has a huge test coming up. Today Maya and I decided to go paint at a pottery studio where you drink some coffee and paint a pottery of your pick.
We are currently getting ready in my room while Ivy is crawling in her play area. When she first crawled to me I cried of happiness, it took her a while but now she gets to me in an instant.
After painting we are going to meet up with the guys and go through a corn maze. I am excited to finally introduce Maya to the guys and execute the plan to get Maya and Xavier together.
But based on Maya and her outgoing personality, all I have to do is give Xavier a little shove.
" Ready to go? " Maya asks putting on her boots.
" Lets go! " I say picking up Ivy.
I take a quick picture of Ivy and I before heading out.
We load up in my car and head towards downtown, which is only a 20 minute drive. We listen to Lana while we sing and Ivy babbles.
Once I park , we begin to make our way into the pottery place where Maya has reserved a small table for us.
" Hi welcome in! My name is Aaron , what can I do for y'all? " a man says.
" We have a reservation under Maya for 11:30." she says with a smile.
" Right! Please take a seat at Table C , you'll see the letters as you pass by , and you can pick any piece of pottery you want. The prices are on the pieces and the art supplies is in the middle of the room. On your table a mason jar with water is provided along with clean brushes , napkins , and a drink menu. Enjoy. " he says with a smile.
" Thank you! " I say as we walk away.
Ivy looks around from her stroller as Maya and I pick out two mugs to paint. We find our table and I take one chair away from so I can place Ivy's stroller there instead.
I give her a bottle before Maya brings many different colored paints to the table and we begin painting.
I begin painting ivy leaves along my mug while Maya paints strawberries and different fruits. Ivy is now fast asleep as we make small talk and paint.
After we finish , we take our mugs to the front so they can glaze and fire it.
As we walk out and begin to walk down the street I see all of the guys waiting for us beside my car.
" Guys this is Maya , Maya this is the guys! " I say.
Everyone looks at Maya and I clear my throat.
" Quinn, nice to meet you." he says smiling.
" I'm Rome, and this is my boyfriend Alec!"
I look over to Xavier before I see Quinn harshly nudge him, snapping him out of his trance.
" Xavier. " he says extending his hand to Maya.
Maya pulls him in for a hug instead and I look at the guys with a smile.
" Sorry! I'm a hugger. " she says with a blush.
I'm calm on the outside but on the inside I'm definitely doing a happy dance.
After a moment of talking we decide to head towards the corn maze and Xavier rides with us.
Xavier and Maya talk all throughout the journey while I hum to the music playing and enjoy the sunny skies. We get to a large corn field and after I park on the gravel , we all head towards the entrance.
I decided to hold Ivy while she sleeps and we walk through the maze.
" Competition time. " Quinn says with a smile.
" Xavier and Maya , choose a team name. "
" Rome and Alec , same for you both."
We all laugh before I head over to Quinn and we begin to brainstorm our team name.
After choosing our name we turn around and Rome speaks up first.
" We are the e-lemon-ators. " he says proudly.
I bust out laughing as he does so and he looks at me with narrowed eyes.
" We are the jalapeño hotties." Maya says looking at Xavier.
" Seriously? " Rome says laughing.
"And we're poison ivy." Quinn says.
" Alright , let's go! "
We all head in and branch off in different directions. The tall corn stalks make it impossible to see the other teams but we continue walking until we see a scarecrow.
" Hell no! " Quinn says running behind me.
" What's wrong? " I ask.
" Have you never seen those scary movies with the scarecrows. " he whispers.
" No? " I say.
I look over to the scarecrow who has a smiley face on him.
" You mean this scare crow? " I say moving closer.
" DONT! HE WILL KILL YOU ADALAIDE AT LEAST GIVE ME IVY " he shouts.
" Quick take a picture of us and the scary scarecrow! " I say.
I put my arm around the scarecrow before Quinn takes out his phone and I suddenly move the scarecrow, eliciting a scream from Quinn as he runs off.
My hero.
I laugh so hard I may pee myself before an unamused looking Quinn walks back towards me. He mockingly laughs with me before we set off again to find the end of the maze.
A short ten minutes later, we find the exit.
" YES! TEAM POISON IVY HAS WON! " Quinn shouts.
We do a quick side hug before we see Rome and Alec come out.
" Dammit! It's all your fault, he kept leading us to dead ends." Alec says pointing at Rome.
" Hey! "
We all laugh.
" How do you think it's going? " I ask.
" I've never seen Xavier so choked up over a woman. " Rome says.
" Me either , hopefully he isn't making a fool out of himself. " Quinn says laughing.
As soon as he finishes his sentence , I see Xavier and Maya walking out of the maze.
" I don't even care that we lost, I had a great time! " Maya says with a smile.
Xavier nods before he looks at us.
" Did y'all hear that little girl scream? "
I'm definitely going to pee myself.
I laugh so hard I am gasping for air at the end , I look at Quinn to see him looking at me with a straight face , which makes me laugh even harder.
Finally, I calm myself down and we all decide to head back to the apartment.
Once we get there , I see a bouquet of flowers sitting in a glass vase , waiting at my front door.
Ivy is now awake and as she sees the flowers , she squeals and reaches for them.
I bend over and pick them up , trying to find a card.

I hand the flowers to Maya before unlocking the door and we head inside. She places them on the kitchen table while I stand there looking at them , wondering what I should do.
I don't owe him an explanation , do I?
" You don't have to go." Maya says.
" I know, but maybe it's time for a proper conversation between us. " I say.
" We are here for you Adalaide." Xavier says coming up to me.
He pulls me in for a hug before whispering " thank you" in my ear.
Of course he figured it out.
I just smile before pulling away and deciding that I need to go talk to him.
" I'll be back." I say.
He nods before I say my goodbyes. I head out towards my car with a babbling Ivy in hand.
" Can you say mama? "
She squeals putting her hand in her mouth. She looks at me with her bright eyes and smiles.
I smile in return before showering her with kisses.
We drive towards the willow tree and after a couple of minutes contemplating , doubting , and procrastinating, we head towards the designated tree.
The willow looks beautiful as the sunset hits the tree and I stop to admire before I hear a whistle.
I turn around to see Vance with a football.
"We meet again."
I give him a nod before I turn back around and try to walk away.
"Do you even know who I am?"
I turn around and let out a sigh.
"Your name is Vance and you play football, now I need to get going."
"Do you know my last name?"
I shake my head, confused.
He turns around, showing me the back of his letterman jacket where I see his number and last name. My breath gets caught in my throat before I hold Ivy closer to me.
"Palmer." I whisper more to myself.
"That's right, Easton is my brother." He says with a smile.
"How-"
"I've known about you for awhile Adalaide. Although I didn't know I was an uncle." He says.
Suddenly Maddox is in front of me, blocking Vance from Ivy and I.
"Her hero." Vance scoffs out.
"It's time for you to go."
After a moment, Maddox turns around and I take in his appearance. He wears a tight black fitted tee and some joggers.
He looks... really good.
" Come on let's sit. " he says.
We head under the tree and I see a small blanket is laid out and there are some to go boxes sitting on it. Maddox sits down before patting the space beside him.
Ivy begins squealing and reaching for Maddox as we sit down, which makes Maddox look at me with a sheepish smile.
I roll my eyes before handing her over, and she instantly plays with his hair.
" I got us some Chinese , I hope that's okay. " he says.
" Of course."
As we begin eating , I decide to speak first.
" Jasper kissed me. I pushed him away and he started yelling at me and he punched the wall beside my face." I say and say the last part quieter.
Maddox says nothing, instead he just looks at Ivy. I know he's angry. It's evident on his face and the way he's breathing. I know he wants to say something about it, but he doesn't.
"I pushed him away because I like you." I blurt out.
Part of me said it so he'd stop thinking about Jasper. The other part of me needed him to know how I felt.
He looks at me in shock.
"How? I punched one of our best friends in the face. I thought you hated me after that."
"What you did to Xavier was wrong, you need to apologize to them all."
"I did, especially to Xavier."
"I don't hate you. Maddox, you haven't been the greatest to me. But when we're alone, you're different and I feel like that is the real you. I like the real you." I say.
He lets out a sigh.
"I like you too." He says quietly.
I look at him and as I do, his large hand gently cups my chin and he kisses me.
Our lips mold together perfectly as I kiss him back. I feel warmth spread throughout my body like a wildfire. I pull away and he pecks my lips one more time before he looks at me.
"You're so beautiful."
I blush, making him laugh. We both continue to eat and talk. Ivys green eyes are looking over Maddox's face before she squeals and puts her hands on his cheeks.
"She really likes you. " I say with a smile.
The sun is now gone and we're now heading back to the apartment.
Ivy and Maddox are in front of me as we walk towards my door, and suddenly I'm pulled back by my cardigan.
"You didn't say goodbye. " Jasper says.
"Goodbye. "
He scoffs.
Maddox protectively holds Ivy as he stands beside me, fuming.
"You need to leave." Maddox says lowly.
Jasper only laughs.
"You don't know her. I do. I watched for months, learned everything I could about her! You'll throw her away just like you do every girl, you don't deserve her!"
I quickly unlock the door and take Ivy away from Maddox.
"Please let's just go." I say grabbing Maddox's hand.
" I just wanted to get in her pants anyways. "
Maddox abruptly stops and he turns around. He walks over to Jasper before punching him in the face.
" Apologize. " he says.
Jasper spits blood out of his mouth before shaking his head , so Maddox punches him two more times before Jasper falls to the ground.
Thankfully Ivy is asleep and her blanket covers her.
" Apologize. " Maddox says again.
" I-I'm s-s-sorry Adalaide." He whispers.
" I don't think she heard you."
" I-I'm sorry , I'm so s-sorry Adalaide." he says louder.
Maddox nods before we head into the apartment and he closes the door before locking it.
" Are you okay? " he asks.
I see worry lace his eyes as he looks down at me.
" I'm okay, thank you." I say.
" How about a movie? " I say after a moment.
" A movie sounds great."
