It was lunchtime, and you and Giyeon chose to sit in the bleachers at the school sports field and watch some of the guys play soccer. You don't want to sit in the cafeteria with your annoying cousin, lusting after the most popular boy there.
"So, when are you going to confess to "streetdancer," our resident hottie?" Giyeong questioned.
You almost choke on your saliva as you lightly shove her shoulder with your lunch boxes and hand her chopsticks to eat with you.
"I will not sign up for heartbreak or lose the only roof over my head over a boy," you crinkled your nose. Now, quiet...eat your food." You try to ignore her teasing gaze as she chuckles while tasting some of your mother's delicious food.
Giyeon smugly smirked, "Oh, yeah. You and Hoseok clearly like each other, Yuri. Did you notice how he looks at you with puppy eyes--?" She has wiggled her eyes at you. She enjoys agitating you.
You stare at her blankly, "Gi-- you know he's forbidden territory. Even if I like him, my cousin Mi-Cha will put me through hell at home. Why aren't you taking a chance on Namjoon? He is big a fan of you. He has always liked you, but you are so cold to him. He is a rich mom's son who is hot and intelligent." You ask her a question.
Namjoon, your head prefect, is madly in love with her, but she brushes him off. She doesn't want to cause him any harm.
Giyeon's eyes are hooded as she silently dips into the lunch box and eats some of the mushoom pancakes.
"I know, but I don't feel for him.I mean, he's cool and all, but I'm just not attracted to him."
You furrow your brows, perplexed, "But you never mention the hot boys...more boys like you than they ever will like me. Even the boys in the classroom. I've heard they say you are on the top 5 hottest chicks list. The girls all the boys most likely to date. Mi-Cha is first."
Giyeon smirked and shook her head, saying, "The boys in this school aren't my type at all."
She abruptly turned away with a distant look. You're wondering why she's suddenly sad or conflicted.
"OK, I won't bother you about boys...but don't force me to confess," you laugh." I don't have the guts to go that route. We're graduating, and I may never return to Ulsan. Mom and I will only leave if I get a scholarship to Seoul National University."
Giyeon laughs heartily, "I applied to Korea University and hope to get into their science program."
You stare at her, perplexed "You will easily be accepted. Gosh! Giyeon, you are the top science student. I wish I had your number-crunching abilities. Math continues to be my weakest subject-- "You look at her wide eyes and wonder what was wrong with her as she smirked back at you.
She cast her gaze behind you. You crease your brows and turn your head to see where she is pointing.
"What!-"Oh, no. Hoseok and his friends were only a few meters away from you. There appears to have been some commotion as Namjoon and Yoongi shoved him in your direction. You're left wondering what all of that was about. He returned his dirty stare to his friends.
However, when he turned around, it was clear that he was extremely anxious to be finding himself in your presence. He wiped his hands on his pants. Why is the confident 'Streetdancer ' so nervous?
"Streetdancer" is coming our way! This is my signal to step back." Giyeon muttered and wanted to leap up. But you yanked her down with force, and your eyes were filled with fear.
"No-no, don't go...what am I going to say, he... he makes me nervous, Gi," you say, looking frantic at her laughing eyes.
"Just be yourself-" she said, teasing you with her half smile.
"Myself is pathetic-"you whined softly until Giyeon's demenour changed jovially and you realized Hoseok had entered your group space.
"Hi Hoseok-" she said, flirtatiously waving her fingers. You're looking at her? with a deadpan expression . You turn around with a small smile on your face. You appear nervous, but he appears more concerned than you.
"Heya girls--erm...Yuri, could I please speak with you for a moment?"
He inquires hesitantly. You inhaled deeply and nodded as you rose from the concrete bench. You look down at a smirking Giyeon, who has mirth in her eyes. She'll have a ball teasing you.
You breathed deeply and looked at your secret crush, blushing slightly as you stammered, "er...er..ok." You gave a stinky look when you heard Giyeon snort lightly. She coughs up and clears her throat, quickly grabbing her warm water bottle and took large sips of it.
Hoseoks' friends were snickering where they were standing and watching his tactics to get the girl of his dreams. You simply rolled your eyes as you took a step down to where Hoseok was standing with a bright ,but nervous smile.
You give him a soft smile and follow him away from the friends.
"You look great in that hairstyle, Yuri--" he says, looking at your high pony tail. You flushed bright red and touched your hair strands.
You smile and nod, "Thanks Hoseok...I like your hairstyle as well." He wore his hair in bangs.
"Yuri...er, I want to ask you something, if that's okay with you?" he grins breathlessly. He put his hands in the pockets of his pants.
You looked at him with wide eyes, hoping he wouldn't ask about assignments or schoolwork,"O-ok, ask right away," you say with a welcoming grin.
Hoseok inhaled deeply, as if praying to himself, "Can I take you out on a date tomorrow if you're not too busy?"
You appeared shaken, "A...date! You want me to go out on a date with you?" You mumble it out. On your cheeks, a cute blush appears.
He bit his lower lip and nodded, "Yeah...only if you want...I understand if you're busy or so-".but he looks hopeful.
"Er...no... I mean, yes, I'll go on a date with you Hoseok, and no, I'm not too busy." You had a bright red red face as you strangled it out. Oh, my goodness. Your crush has simply asked you out. You wanted to scream, and the beaming grin on his face made you smile even wider. Millions of butterflies swarmed your stomach.
Hoseok is overjoyed when you agree, "Oh ok...can we go right after school? I can drive us or pick you up at home if you want to change out of your school uniform," he proposed.
Hoseok received a cool sports car for his 18th birthday a few months ago, and the girls are crazy about him.
"It's ok. We can go in our school clothes because we have night classes," you replied.
Hoseok smiles brightly, "Then it's set...can I have your phone? I need to give you my phone number, and I need yours. Is that all right?' He gives you a cute smirk as he held out his hand for you to hand over your phone.
You nod and bite your lip as you fumbled to retrieve your phone from your shirt pocket. With blushing cheeks you nervously hand it over as he typed in his number and took a quick selfie. Your gaze roves quietly over his sharp features. He is so cute. You also did the same typing your number nervously.
You've had feelings for this boy for years, and now that you're graduating, you've finally gotten a date with him.
You wanted to jump up and down when he handed you his phone, took yours, and exchanged numbers.
OH MY WORD! You have one of the hottest guys in school's phone number.
He smirked as he gently caressed your cheek with his finger, your eyes widening at the unexpected gentle touch. "I'll see you later, sweetie...enjoy your classes."
You blush at the gesture and smile widely, saying, "See you too, Hoseok...same to you."
As he turns around and walks back to his smirking friends who high-five each other behind his back, you both warmly look into each other's eyes. Giyeon was sitting on the bench, her jaw dropped, as you approached her, your eyes wide in disbelief.
"Oh my goodness! Yuri. He was completely taken with you. You exchanged phone numbers, and he touched your cheek. So adorable, "With her hands on her mouth, she gushed.
Some onlookers squeal as they watch one of the hottest boys stand aside and alone with the quiet girl. It will be the most discussed topic at school right now. The school gossips were like little birds. The single street dancer approached Yuri and exchanged phone numbers.
"Oh, Giyeon...Hoseok asked me on a date and gave me his phone number. What exactly is going on? Is this a dream or a prank? Mi-Cha is going to kill me! Oh, mupsticks!" As you sat next to her, you began to fan yourself. She was cracking up the entire time.
"He is totally into you. I can't wait to see your lovely cousin's face when her crush start dating her so-called cousin. Oh...drama!!!"she looked hyped up.
"He is completely smitten by you. I can't wait to see the expression on your lovely cousin's face when her crush begins dating her so-called cousin. Oh...drama!!!" She appeared pumped up.
The bell for your last two classes rang just then. As you and Giyeong linked arms and strolled to your class, chatting animatedly, you felt a strange jittery excitement in your tummy.
Mi-cha, unbeknownst to you, had heard through the grapevine that the object of her obsession was madly in love with her gorgeous cousin.
She was enraged with envy and loathing.
But...when you were alone with your thoughts in class you wonder if you'll survive this two weeks of Mi-Chas' wrath...
