It was breakfast and it's has been months since her last encounter with Tom Riddle. It was now the month of November, near her birthday on the 17th. She would be fourteen!
Lucretia squealed as she ran in, she happily took her place opposite Avella and next to sister Dorea.
"Merlin Cretia, what has gotten you so giddy this morning? We have Herbology first why are you happy about that?" Dorea said in a hateful manner
Lucretia wouldn't stop squealing and jumping around like a she swallowed a frog. She looked like she was about to burst.
Avella had her hair out and a Slytherin headband sat lightly on her head, slightly curled ends, she sipped on a cup of tea.
"You wouldn't believe it guys!" She said almost squealing again
"Oh for fucking Merlin spit it out, Tia. It better not be about some boy. You just came off of Abraxas." Dorea explained scoffing
Avella laughed a bit
"Rea, let her explain" Avella replied
"Vella. It's obviously going to be something neither one of us are interested in." Dorea sighed
"Ugh shut up! Tom fucking Riddle just asked me out!" She shouted at Avella and Dorea
That's when Avella started choking on her tea
"I'm sorry what? Maybe I didn't hear you properly" Avella explained squinting her eyes at Lucretia
"I'm being serious. The Tom Marvolo Riddle, the most hottest in Slytherin's opinion has asked me out!" She smiled widely it would come of the earth
"What did you say?!" Dorea looked invested
"Of course I said yes. Duh." She ate some toast
Both Avella and Dorea stared at the girl dumbfounded. Their jaws nearly to the earths core
"Why would you say yes to that psycho?" Avella replied whispering
"He got me this ring! It's perfect how couldn't I say no." She rolled her eyes as they showed both her friends the giant snake ring
"Cretia, he is not a good person. That's all I'm going to say." Avella sipped on her tea
Out the corner of her eye Tom was staring at the three. They interlocked eyes. But she teared them away. He's all Lucretia's now. She felt something, but didn't dare acknowledge it further, a sense of jealousy.
"Besides, Lucretia. You know Tom and
Vella are sworn enemies to the bone" Dorea Black said
Lucretia shrugged and carried on eating.
"Dorea, stop. It's okay" Avella sighed deeply
She couldn't believe the words that came out of Lucretia's mouth. Why her? It must be a set up. Lucretia has gone through half the wizarding population. Why'd he want to go to her?
Avella didn't say anything else and walked out leaving both the girls behind. As she was walking to her next lesson she felt footsteps behind her.
"Lestrange." The dreaded voice of Riddle
She turned around
"What?" She drawled
"I just wanted to see if it was okay going out with your acquaintance Lucretia." He said
"No. I know what your doing, I bet this is a set up you don't like her!" She looked at him
"What?! No I love her." He got defensive
Lie. Lie. Lie.
He wanted Lucretia to retrieve the book for him. Manipulate her by deluding her of the idea of love.
"I don't believe you." She said before turning and sprinting down the hall.
Divination came. Avella sat with Dorea and Lyall Lupin, the perky fluffy haired boy. Lucretia was sat next to Tom. Not that Avella cared.
"Catch Tia and Tom. Nobody ever saw them two coming, they're anything everyone talks about these days" Lyall said
This only made Avella roll her eyes can carry in with the lesson
Tea cups. They had to read. She saw that Dorea had a lot of great stuff on the way, but Avella...not so much. Lyall just had his eyes on Dorea. Avella knew about his growing and ongoing crush on little Dorea, not that she knew of course.
Soon she felt the barrier to her thoughts being tampered with. Like someone was getting in. Legilimency, she thought. Someone was trying to intrude her thoughts
She blocked them out, thankfully to her parents and extra schooling she was mastered in Occlumencey.
She looked around in the direction to see Tom staring right at her. Her eyes became slits. Tom. How did he know Legilimens?!
Once class was dismissed Tom rushed out, Lucretia trailing behind. Once she saw Tom and Lucretia down the hall, them getting eyed by all the girls, Avella caught up with the.
"Can I have a word with Tom." Avella asked
Lucretia looked skeptical and so did Tom. But Lucretia stayed put.
"Alone." Avella scoffed turning to Lucretia who roles her eyes
She vanished as she pulled Tom to the upstairs hallway and pinned him to the wall.
"What do you think you're doing? Your a legilimens?! And you were trying to search my brain! You slippery little fishbrain!" She looked fuming
"I didn't know you were an Occlumens." He replied cooly
"Those thoughts are mine, leave them alone!" She raged
"Stop, Lessie. I was only testing it out!"
"Stop this nonsense with Lucretia! You don't deserve to shatter her poor heart" Avella exclaimed
"Who said I was going to break her poor flimsy heart?" He questioned
"I'm watching you, Riddle" Avella eyed the boy
"I'm watching you too, Lessie." He spat out a low laugh
"It's Lestrange for Merlin's sake! Don't you laugh at me I know your little secret!" She pointed to his chest
"Fine fine, but Lucretia is mine now. Go back to Lupin whatever that oafs name is" he rolled his eyes
"Don't talk about Lyall like that! Go back to your rude friends!" She pushed him once before leaving down the hall.
He looked as she walked hastily down the hall. Feisty
He thought, the total opposite of Lucretia. Soon his girlfriend Lucretia came back.
"What was your chat about?" She folded her arms
"Nothing much, just speaking as acquaintances, Lucie" he tried to smile but he did not tear his eyes from Avella Lestrange. He thought she was an abnormal being, out of the ordinary. She captured his eyes. You could say, Lucretia was there. As a trophy on show.
"Come on Tom let's get lunch" she tried pulling him away from the eye of a disappearing Avella
She was an outstanding dark art student. Even better than he was, he the least expected thing was that she was both Occlumens and Legilimens.
He didn't know but he was interested in her. Not that he knew his growing interest. He only had Lucretia to cover him up for everything he's done by averting Avella off and to continue his tasks.
"Tom, who are you staring at come on let's go to lunch!" Lucretia tried to pull him away
"No one, I'm not staring, Lucie. The only person I'd stare at is you" he didn't make eye contact with her but heard a simple 'aw' escape her mouth. He cringed.
But he was lying. He was looking at Avella. Her.
His furture self knew it to be her. It was her he had chosen. And nor did she or he know it yet.
