Kylo was proud.
Ver had fully accepted her place standing next to him as Empress.
She had fully accepted her ancestry and the power that came with it.
Ver had stepped up and proved herself to be a strong and caring ruler.
And now she was finally cutting herself free of the deadbeat she calls sister.
That woman angered Kylo more than everyone except his father. She was so selfish but acted as though she were selfless. She was just like his father. Kylo wished he had killed her that day on Star Killer Base over a year ago. He wished she wasn't so determined to 'save' her younger sister from a fate she feared but her sister embraced.
He smiled as Ver curled up into his chest as she slept peacefully. He gently kissed her forehand and she let out a content sigh.
Ver was tough and wicked. She was smart and ruthless. But Kylo often forgot she was young. Ver was only 20 years old but held the weight of the galaxy on her shoulders. Now she was determined to find the so-called Secrets of the Sith that would save the galaxy. All Kylo could do was support her.
He brushed hair away from her face as he watched her sleep. Ver clung to his chest like a young child.
It made Kylo see just how young she was.
The Empress was about to charge into a war to save the trillions of beings in the galaxy who did not deserve her. No one deserved the perfection that was Ver Loren. In the old and long forgotten language of gẽrmàñ, verloren meant lost. Ver had done her research when she picked her name. What she didn't know was that Kylo had as well. He knew Ver well enough to know that she would never choose some random name. No, he knew the name was for a reason.
It worried Kylo back when he first found out the meaning. However he knew Ver was no longer lost, she was no longer conflicted. The sisters made their choices and he knew it would cost a life.
