Chapter Ten
Wrong, It's A Girl and her horse
3rd Person POV
iris had found out that since mia had gotten injured and zoe had messed up her arm. she was supposed to ride with bullet but it wasn't going to be easy. she was scared and she didn't have bullet. she sat down at the table as she stared at her food , she then heard a loud noise and turned to see rosie with a suitcase
"it's too early for this" iris groaned and she smacked her head on the table before her phone rang and they all looked at her
"let me take this" she spoke and she got up as she walked out of the house and into the front yard. she answered the phone and sighed as she heard flynn's voice
"if it's bad news i don't want to know" she stated and flynn laughed under her breathe
"this is good news" she spoke and iris sighed happily
"okay tell me" she exclaimed
"kansas is just sick, it's the flu. it's temporary, he's okay" she stated and iris sighed as a smile grew on her face
"oh thank god" she sighed out and flynn sighed out too but there as still something wrong
"there's something else isn't there?" flynn asked and iris nodded even though she couldn't see her
"there's this horse, his name is bullet. he was taken by horse thief's, they told me that i'm his person flynn" she spoke and flynn sighed
"wow iris the double horse rider" flynn spoke and iris laughed
"yeah but there's a show today and i can't do it without him" iris exclaimed
"well then maybe you should tell the owner of the yard, i'll call and check on you later iris. go do what you have to" flynn said
"thank you flynn i love you" she said and flynn smiled
"i love you too" flynn spoke and the call ended as iris walked to the stables and into the shed to find sam
"iris, hi" sam said and she stepped forward to hug her as iris hugged her back
"hi sam. i need to tell you something" she said and sam sighed as she nodded
"you can't do the competition without bullet" sam said for her
"yeah i'm sorry" she said and sam shook her head
"iris truly it's okay. don't stress about this. taking mia's place was a big thing for you" sam said and iris nodded
"not another word. it's done. i'll sort this out. i can't force you to ride and especially without the horse you grew a connection with but won't you wonder what it would've felt like to get out in that ring and show everyone iris phillips?" Sam said and iris got up
"but bullet isn't here" iris said back
"any good rider can ride any horse well. you are an amazing rider, you and priscilla have formed a bond and maybe you'll see that" She said and Iris nodded as she walked out but marcus stopped her. she looked up at him as he looked down at her
"do the show, iris. you'll regret not doing it" He said and she shrugged
"maybe" she said and she rubbed her hand over his hand as he blushed and she walked away with a smile on her face
"DO THE SHOW" he called after her and she shrugged as she walked to priscilla's stall and she opened the gate. she closed it and sighed before rosie and zoe showed up
"put this on" rosie said and iris sighed as she led her to the shed and iris looked at zoe and rosie as they talked about their parents. iris tried to block it out but she couldnt. she put it on and walked out to see everyone
"what? what is it?" she asked and pin stepped forward
"you fit in with them. it's cute, good luck" he said and she smiled as she kissed his cheek and she got on the bus with the girls. she put her headphones in before she looked up and saw them staring at her
"what?" she asked and jade held up a notebook as iris noticed that it was hers
"where did you get that?" she questioned as she sat up and took it back
"under your bed, it's nothing" Zoe said and iris scoffed before someone knocked on the door. iris got out of the bus as she looked around
"welcome to the country show" Becky said but she stopped short as they saw someone walking by
"holloway, our main rivals" jade stated and iris looked at the ground as she turned around and sighed. this didn't feel right, not at all. she kept her headphones in as she looked around and sighed. she hated it all and just didn't know what to do
she ignored everyone as she went around until she remembered something
"ZOE! did i tell anyone that bullet tried to throw me that day on the beach?" she asked
"not anyone but me" she exclaimed and she looked at sam and then rosie. she connected everything and sighed
"it's sam, sam is apart of everything" She said and zoe rushed over to sam as she started to question her. iris watched as sam walked away and zoe looked to iris
"it's true" zoe said and then they heard the intercom
"all riders please get to the ring" He said and iris shook her head as she looked at zoe
"we need to find bullet, now" she said and she ran off as zoe followed. even with her arm, she followed after her and got to the horse
"iris wait. they're taking him to wreckers cove. if you leave now, you can save him" she said and iris got on major as she looked at zoe
"you're injured stay here" she said and then she heard pin
"i'm coming with you, let's go" he said and he got on elvis as they rode to wreckers cove and got off of them to see bullet on the beach
"bullet" she whispered under her breathe
"wait here. i've got a plan, wait for my signal" pin spoke and iris scoffed
"what goddamn signal?" she exclaimed and she felt her sweatshirt being weighed down. she lifted it up and pulled it out to see a horseshoe
"hey! what's going on in there?" she heard pin and she smiled as she ran down to bullet and hid behind a rock. she looked at bullet and walked over to him as she grabbed his reins and started to untie him
"i had a feeling you'd show up. stand up" he said and she stood up as she stood in front of bullet and dropped his reins letting him be free without the man noticing
"i'm letting him go home" She retorted
"we can't let a little girl stand in our way. his new owners been waiting for him for a very long time. and they're getting impatient so step away from the horse" he said and she brought out the horseshoe and then looked at bullet
"wrong, it's a girl and her horse" she said and he stood up on his hind leg. as iris swung on him and let him fall. she got up on bullet and looked at pin before she nodded and rode away on him
"COME ON PIN" she called and she rode off through the forest and the beach as she rode farther and faster. she smiled as she rode with bullet and took a shortcut losing them for a short while
"COME ON BULLET FASTER" she yelled and she pulled his reins as they rode until they got cut off and iris nodded as she pulled bullet away and went a different way. she rode through the field until they got the river and iris looked at bullet
"i know you're scared but you need to let go bullet. you have to let go" she said and she started to ride him as they got to the river and jumped over it. she stopped after it and looked back to see pin
"YES" he yelled and she smiled at him as she per bullet
"you did it not" she said and she looked up to see marcus running towards her
"IRIS" he called and she ran forward as she hugged him tightly
"you're okay" he said to her and she nodded as they soon stood next to sam and listened to her explain her side of the story. she stood next to bullet as she held marcus hand and sighed. he ran his thumb over the back of her hand
"i'm going to turn myself in" sam said and she held out her wrists to derek as he cuffed her and put her on the car
"ready to head back?" marcus asked and she shook her head
"not yet, i need time to realize i got him back" she said and marcus nodded as he leaned forward and pet bullet. he looked at iris and she looked at him
"i'm happy for you" he said and he looked at her lips as she looked at his , he looked back up to her eyes and brushed her hair behind her ear and she smiled. he leaned in and he kissed her as she kissed back. he held her waist and smiled into the kiss as they held each other close and smiled
she looked up as she smiled at him before they left and went back to the stables. the next day, iris woke up and went to the stables to see a women with raven and bullet
"marcus, guys what is this?" she asked
"this is me taking my property, i have everything here saying that these two horses are mine" she spoke and iris scoffed as she looked at the ground and then at everyone else
"it's all here. passports, documents, everything" marcus said and he looked at iris
"these horses are of royal bloodline, their mother was ruby dawn. she was a famous racing horse" the women said
"i knew bullet and raven were special" jade said
"their names aren't raven and bullet. it's mignight blue and starry brown" And iris chuckled at the names before they got loaded up
"can we just say goodbye?" iris asked
"do the right thing iris. you help and you say goodbye" maggie said and iris walked over as did zoe and they helped them into the car. she walked in and hooked his leash and she sighed
"goodbye" she said to him and she kissed his nose as he hugged and she cried. she walked out and looked at the others. she looked at marcus before she got in the car and they drove away
"bye" she called to them and she waved as they drove off but not far before they heard and saw two horses not far behind them.
"STOP THE CAR" she yelled and got out with zoe as they ran to them. iris smiled as she held bullets nose and zoe held ravens. they hugged them tightly
"you can't take them. we won't let you" Iris said
"how dare you tell me what i can do with my horse?" the women asked
"you don't them as we do. you may own him but that doesn't mean anything and you definitely don't know what's best for them. they are wild horses who have found a safe home with people who love and take care of them. you can't just waltz in and expect" iris said but she was cut off
"fine" the woman said
"fine? what do you mean, fine?" she asked
"i'm no fool. i can't see the bond between you two and them. someone's got to train these horses, it might as well be you two" she said and iris smiled as she looked at them
"we didn't mean" zoe said
"we're staying" iris told them with no doubt in her mind. she was happy , calm and maybe everything was starting to look up and be better
she could only hope but who knew?
