-RANDOM MOMENTS-

Daphne's POV

I got in trouble with Alice. It was Emmett's fault. Emmett was talking about how he could take me in a fight and how my fire was nothing. Playing around with me. So he took my hand and shot a fireball at Alice's window. I haven't fully learned how to use it. Of course, she yelled at us for it. So she grounded me and Emmett as if she could keep me here. I was gonna leave through the window. It's easier that way. I was halfway out when I hear someone caring their throat. I turn to see jasper. Clearing his throat, he moved into the room, amusement glittering in his eyes. "You know you're grounded, right?" he called out, instinctively leaping into action when you jumped at the sudden voice and almost toppled out of the window. Jasper grabbed me before I could, wrenching me back inside, arms wrapped around me so tight my feet didn't even touch the ground. He held me there, staring down at me with a look I'd come to recognize as: "you almost gave my unbeating heart an aneurism." You grimaced, looking hesitantly up at him. There was nowhere else you could look in the position he had me in. "Sorry?" I tried, and a corner of his lips lifted before he set me back on my feet.

"What were you doing Darlin?" he asked, hands on my shoulders, my eyes lit up in a not-so-positive way, as though you were remembering something you'd since forgotten about. Pulling away from Jasper's hold, I raced back to the open window and resumed my previous position, hanging my upper body out and stretching a hand towards... something. To placate his rising worries, Jasper moved to stand next to me, peering with narrowed eyes out at the trees and attempting to see for himself what had I so intent on seemingly escaping the bedroom. "I'm not grounded, by the way," I stated as I leaned out a bit more, eyes scanning the trees. Jasper's hands ached to grab a handful of my hoodie, just to keep me from falling. "That's not what Alice said," he told me instead. "Alice doesn't get to ground me. She just-" I put one foot on the windowsill once I'd caught sight of what I'd been looking for "confined me to the house." Jasper relented and shot an arm out to grab me. "You did send a torpedo through her new windows. As she puts it" "One, I didn't mean to. Second, Emmett's fault. Can you please let go?" I ask. "Can you tell me what you're doing Daph?" He asks me.

I yanked at my hoodie, but Jasper did not yield. Finally, I let out a frustrated sigh and placed my foot back on the floor of the bedroom. Jasper loosened his hold but did not let go, all too knowledgeable of my swift escape tactics. Thanks to Thomas. "Jazz there's a cat stuck in a tree," I told him. Jasper's brows shot up. Seriously? Was that it? He spared a moment to rack his brain and come up with any other reason it could have possibly been but returned empty-handed. He blinked. "And... how is hanging out the window going to help with that predicament, Daphne?" He asked me. "Well, my original plan was to climb onto the tree and go and grab it, but I don't think that'll work." I shook his hand, now loosened considerably, from my back and turned to the window, pointing with a finger. "Do you see it?" I ask him.

Jasper stood next to me. It was difficult to see the tabby cat among the leaves, but he spotted it after a couple of seconds, crouched and shaking on a thin branch that definitely wouldn't have held the nimblest of vampires. "So what was your next plan?" he asked. "To just grab him." You crossed your arms over your chest and twisted your face in thought. "But I don't want to make him more scared." Jasper breathed a short chuckle. "Darlin, if it's emotions hindering you..." It took a moment to process his words before my mouth fell open in a victorious grin and I gratefully stepped aside, making room. Jasper had tried it once, on a whim, to see if he could calm the deer he was about to sink his teeth into, and it'd worked. At least, he thought it had. He hadn't been able to ask the deer, unfortunately.

But he'd done it many times since, and his siblings had lovingly tacked the title of 'Animal Whisperer' onto him. So, rolling his shoulders back, he focused his energy on the cat, letting it hum through and out his body and wrap itself around the animal, like a comforting blanket. He felt its fear and soothed it, and, sure enough, the cat, after a moment of contemplating, seemed to gain newfound confidence. It stood up, scanning the branch, and put one paw in front of the other. "Push it towards us," Jasper said, I reached an arm out, commanding the air to help move the cat to the windowsill before the branch snapped under its weight. It mewed softly as the air fluffed its hair, big eyes blinking and completely unaware of the creaking beneath it. I was practically jumping on my toes from sheer anticipation.

Jasper, meanwhile, stretched himself half out the window--oh, hypocrisy--and grasped the cat by the scruff of its neck, pulling it quickly inside before the branch cracked and fell into two, the end half swinging downwards. The cat jumped from his arms into mine, immediately rubbing its head under my chin and purring affectionately. "You're very welcome," I said with a smile before turning puppy-dog eyes up at jasper. "Do you think Thomas will let us keep him? I know we have milo but he needs a friend" Jasper snorted and extended an arm to let the cat sniff his hand. Its little wet nose pressed against his skin before it nudged him with its head, and he gave it a small pat before stepping away. "I doubt it. You shouldn't play with your food." I audibly gasped and slapped at his chest, turning the cat away from him despite his playful grin. "We don't eat cats, Jaz."

"You don't. Better not let that one roam the house." "Get out." You tossed a pillow at him, soaring through the sky and straight for his smirking face. He dodged it and pointed a finger at you, walking back towards the door. "Better watch out, little Lady." "Don't call me that! You know I hate that!" I yell at him. "Meow," Jasper says downstairs.

As I was doing homework. I'm chewing on my pen cap absentmindedly, thinking of how Jasper made me reach my high. We haven't had sex yet I'm just doing this to mess with Edward. I wouldn't have even noticed the pen cap between my teeth if it weren't for Edward clearing his throat and raising an eyebrow at me. Rolling my eyes, hiding my smile. pointedly thinking. Prude. He just smiles under his breath and returns to his book. Can he taste me? I mean, I know us vampires can taste blood, but when he's buried between my thighs, does it have a flavor? Fuck it, I don't care if it has a flavor. I want him to throw whatever he's made out the window and saddle my legs over his shoulders–fingertips pressing into my thighs until they bruise, using his skin as an ice pack when we're done. And then we start over again. And again. And again. And–

A deep sigh from the couch. Edward, again. Now that's again I wouldn't mind not having. Jasper walked into the room. I smile and peck him on the lips. He proceeds to sit beside me, nuzzling close. I can smell his sweet scent and I know there's no point in even trying to focus on my schoolwork at this point. What class was I even working on? Who knows. I lean into him and let out a heavy sigh, his fingers dance across my spine, and my arm and I hum content. "Okay, Darlin, focus. We can still salvage our work today, right? And after work? Then we can play" jasper says. I told him what I was doing. He's going along with it.

I almost want to laugh at my stupid mind. Leaning forward, I scroll to the next page on my computer. Jasper repositions and when I sit back he's behind me, hugging my middle. PDA isn't his thing, it's not mine either, but comfort is. On any other day, a bit of comfort would probably help me 'focus' Jasper leans his head against my shoulder blade, pressing his lips to it gently. God, those lips– A book slams shut and both our attention turns towards Edward. Dropping his hardcover on the couch behind him, he looks at us.

"You two are revolting." and he walks away. Looking back at Jasper we make eye contact and neither of us can help but to laugh. " Love you, Edward!!"

I sprawl my stomach down on the bed, enjoying the plushy feel of the duvet cloth. Sun filters in through the open window, reaching just far enough to touch my hands and the side of my face, causing them to sparkle. The book I'm reading, some architectural guidebook Esme lent me, is interesting enough to briefly hold my attention, but not exactly captivating. I flip the page, absently skimming as I consider my plans for the evening. The rustle of fabric and a warm, comforting scent travels up the stairs. Jasper. I bite back a smile, pretending to very intently read my book. The moment he enters the room, I'll pounce. My emotions are probably tipping him off, but there's no way he can tell if I'm going to fight him or take his clothes off, seeing as I haven't decided yet.

Though, I guess both is an options. Yeah, both sound good. I turn another page, nodding solemnly as if I'm reading something profound. A heavy clicking sounds against the hardwood floor. I still don't look up, wanting to maintain the element of surprise. "Howdy there, Darlin" I grip the edges of my book a little tighter. Jasper rarely accentuates his accent, but now, he's leaning in hard and dragging out every syllable. It's simultaneously hilarious and delicious. Seeing he failed to bait me the first time, he tries again. "Ma'am, if you wouldn't mind liftin' your head right quick? I promise ya won't regret it." Alright. I'll let him have this one. I can always try out my plan again later, anyway. I raise my eyes.

And nearly fall off the bed with laughter. "Jasper, what the heck!" He grins, spreading his arms wide, which only makes me laugh harder, as this exposes the fringe hanging from his jacket. I sit up straight, tossing my book to the side. "Turn around," I giggle. "Let me see the whole thing." He lifts a hand to his head and tilts the ridiculously large cowboy hat. "Yes, ma'am." And despite his over-the-top outfit, I find the gesture a little hot. Honestly, my boyfriend is so sexy. With his arms still spread wide, Jasper makes a slow circle, giving me a chance to scrutinize every angle of his outfit. Because it's obvious a lot of work went into creating this ensemble. Thick leather boots paired with sharp spurs clank on his feet, the tips of the boots disappearing underneath his wide-legged pants. The pants slim out as they get closer to the top and hug his butt in a wonderfully obvious way.

He wears a simple white shirt with a flashy, fringed vest pulled over it, complete with a 'Woody from Toy Story' star pinned to the left lapel. The aforementioned cowboy hat sits easily on his head, perched atop his honey-blond waves. I whistle. "Why Mr. Whitlock, I dare say that outfit quite becomes ya. Why don't you mosey on over here and give your girlfriend a closer look?" He grins, tilting one side of his mouth higher than the other in that tantalizing way, and takes a slow step in my direction. He leans down to kiss me, bringing a hand to grip my face in that way I love-and I burst out laughing again. "What," he groans, playfully exasperated. "I'm sorry," I giggle. "The fringe on that ridiculous jacket tickled my neck, and then I had to confront the jacket up close and I just-" I sigh, still shaking with laughter. "It got me."

Jasper squints, resting his arms on either side of my legs as he leans over the edge of the bed. "C'mon, Darlin,' now you've got me all acock." I physically have to bite my mouth to keep from sputtering. "A-what now?" He grins cheekily. "Knocked over, astounded, defeated." raise an eyebrow. "Been waiting to use that one, have ya?" He tilts his hat again, this time pairing it with a wink. "Yes ma'am." Rolling my eyes, I rid him of that awful jacket and pull him back down for a kiss.
