after you managed to save wujin and hari from being bitten, everything resumed as normal, and you were eventually saved by the military men
you and onjo walked through the camp, looking to find any of the students, we walked past mijin who had a cardboard sign on her, she smiled at us and continued walking
we finally made it to suhyeok who was sitting on the ground behind one of the tents
“where have you two been?” suhyeok said, we started to walk together, the sun beaming down on us as it was early morning “ive been looking for you, i saw the others a lot, but i couldn't find you anywhere”
“we were going to talk soon, i just…wanted alone time with y/n for a bit, and i was too scared to talk to anyone else, i thought if i saw them it would just remind me of all the bad things” suhyeok nodded in understanding
“we went outside last night, and there a campfire on the school’s roof”
“really?” suhyeok said “are you sure?”
“namra told us she’d like to do the fire again with all of us, so it has to be her, right?” i said “shes still alive”
“don’t get your hopes up, i don’t want you to be sad if its not really her” suhyeok said, he placed a hand on my shoulder, rubbing it gently
i knew it was her, but i still appreciated his thoughts
“we’re planning to go tonight” onjo whispered “you can come with us, don’t tell the others, we’ll get in trouble if a large group leaves” he nodded
later that night, we walked out to where onjo had put the rope the last night, we rounded the corner and saw every single one of our friends, including sunhee
“i thought i said not to tell anyone” onjo said, although it was more like a joke than a actual concern, suhyeok looked to cheongsan and pushed him with his shoulder “i told you not to tell anyone!” he said in a high voice, taking it as a joke too
cheongsan to gyeongsu “bro! i said it was between us!” gyeongsu looked to mijin “she told me she’d beat me if i didn't tell her what i was hiding!”
“and hari said she’ll make sure i don’t get special collage admission! and then wujin whined like a baby when she wouldn't tell him!” “i did not whine like a baby! cheolsoo brought more people than me!”
“ms park caught me! and eunji said she’d throw me to the zombies, and isak hit me with her books! my arm is still sore”
“does this matter?” eunji said “can’t we go see namra already?”
“what she said! we’re gonna get caught if we keep talking” mijin puffed out smoke at the end of her sentence
“lets just go, i wanna see my smartest student” sunhee said “i thought you said i was the smartest?” joonyeong said “i lied” joonyeong put a hand on his heart, joking being offended
they started arguing over who got to go up first, but eventually we were all outside of the camp
“do you guys see it?” hari pointed at the faint light coming from the school’s rooftop “it really is our school!” isak said
it was a long walk to the school, but at least there were not zombies around, waiting to attack us for no reason
“this place is a total wreck!” hyoryung said “that explosion really took this place out”
“it smells like dead people” nayeon gagged
“thats expected” eunji said, covering her nose
nayeon screamed suddenly, causing us all to rush to her side, even if some of them still didn't like her “oh my god seriously?” gyeongsu sighed “its just a dead body!”
“just a dead body?? its still disgusting! i stepped on it, im going to throw up” nayeon whined “i've seen worse” hari said “one of the rookies shot a teacher on accident once, there was a lot of blood” minjae groaned from beside her “thats gross” “training was canceled for a week”
suhyeok caught up me, placing his arm over my shoulder, bringing me closer to him “do you really think its namra?”
“i know it is” i said
“how can you be so sure?” i shrugged “just a…feeling” suhyeok didn't let go of me the whole time, even if he felt the glare of others, he didn't move once
we all stood around the fire, there was no one there, or so they thought, they started talking about who it couldve been
“it was probably a youtuber, wasn't there a guy that went here live streaming? orange something, he broke his leg” gyeongsu said
“maybe it was just other students?” daesu said
“we’re the only ones who are alive though” mijin said
“we don't know that, maybe they didn't get everyone to the camp”
“they did leave us the first time though…they could've done it to other people too”
there was sudden footsteps from behind us, we turned around and saw her, namra
she smiled at us, waving at me shyly, and turned back to the others
“namra” onjo was the first to speak up “its really you”
“its been so long” cheongsan said
“its nice to see you guys again” namra said “i miss you, but i cant stay for along, i just wanted to see y/- i mean you guys one last time” she looked embarrassed
“you can come with us” onjo said “to the camp”
namra looked down “i still have things to do, i cant”
“like what?
“there are others, like me, not humans nor zombies, we’re just…in between” she turned her head to look to the side “they're here” without context it sounded kind of creepy, but she was happy
“where ever we are, we’re still be friends, ill be back” namra took one last look at me, i smiled at her and she turned away, running towards the edge of the roof, and jumped down
we ran towards the edge, looking down to see her running towards the forest, suhyeok was by my side again, he held onto my hand tightly, we looked at each other, and smiled
we got to see our friend again
im glad that i seemed to have just woken up here out of nowhere, i've made the best friends i could have ever asked for, fictional or not, they made me happy
