"Hey, uh, dad you called for me?" You enter Kataoka's office, once you and Kuramochi actually stop bickering and he manages to bandage you up, you saw the text your father left you
"Yeah, I heard you got hurt during P.E earlier." He says, putting down a notebook as he steals a glance at you, eyes softening at the sight of the bump on your forehead
"Yeah...sorry," You apologize, shuffling from foot to foot, "I'm just not that good with sports." You explain, looking up and waiting for Kataoka's next words
"Does it hurt?" He asks
"Huh?" You ask, confused at his sudden question
"Does it hurt?" He motions for your forehead as you unconsciously touch it, wincing slightly
"No, not really." You smile innocently as Kataoka sighs
"Well, if you say so. Kuramochi helped you earlier anyway." He says as you stare at him, once again caught off guard
"You were there?" You ask in confusion, did your dad admit that he was eavesdropping on your conversation with Kuramochi?
"I just wanted to see if you were alright, it wasn't on purpose." He says, smiling slightly as he sees your mouth slightly agape as you stare at him in horror
"Dad!" You groan in embarrassment, you weren't sure what part he heard, but when you think about it, you really didn't want him to hear anything that you and Kuramochi were talking and arguing about
"I didn't do it on purpose." He repeats himself, chuckling, it was probably the first time he heard you sound so loud
"Still, it's embarrassing," You mumble under your breath, you already didn't want him to know about your bump, now he even has to hear about Kuramochi comforting you. You really don't like how you probably embarrassed him
"You should listen to Kuramochi, you know." He comments, returning his attention to the homework on his desk, unable to meet your eyes. After all, you had to get your awkwardness from someone
"Huh?" You ask, the more you talk to your father, the more confused you get, you weren't used to him just coming out and saying that he was worried about you...or being called to his office actually
"When he said you aren't causing trouble," He clears his throat, still unable to look at your face, "He's right" He comments as you stare at him in shock
"Uh, thanks then." You say awkwardly, rubbing the back of your neck as Kataoka nods and soon silence surrounds the two of you
"Uh, I'll get going." You point to the door, "I-I'll see you later." You say goodbye, still feeling slightly shy
"Yeah," Kataoka nods
"And, um, thanks, dad. I really appreciate hearing that from you." You add hurriedly before closing the door and walking fastly away, already feeling your face heat up
Back at his office, Kataoka sighs to himself, you two really need to start communicating better

"What?! The coach heard our conversation?!" Kuramochi asks out loud, even dropping his gaming console as he stares at you in horror
You two were currently playing video games in his room since the others were in another room
"Are you serious? What did he say?" Normally he wouldn't panic. But this was his closest friend's father and his coach, who wouldn't panic in that situation
"Nothing, he just said that he agreed with you." You say quietly, still processing your talk with your father
"What part?" He asks, remembering that after he comforted you, you two immediately started fighting
"The not causing trouble part." You sigh, pausing the game, pulling up your knees and hiding your face, "Dude, I wasn't expecting that." You groan
"Hey, that's a good thing. Isn't it?" He asks, "Now you know that coach does care about you." He hums as you look at him
"You really think so?"
"Yeah," He reassures you, unable to fight the urge to push a strand of hair away
"That said, you really need to brush your hair," He comments as you glare at him, swatting his hand away as he laughs
"Is that so? First, win against me then, you noob." You stuck your tongue out at him as he glares at you before tackling you to the ground
"Repeat that! I dare you!" He challenges you as you laugh
"You're a shitty player, and you smell bad," You continue to tease him as he tickles your side, causing you to laugh
Suddenly the door opens and Sawamura enters the room with Masuko behind him
"Kuramochi-senpai, coach's looking for you-" Sawamura stops short as he looks at yours and Kuramochi's position on the floor, even Masuko drops the spoon he was using to eat his pudding
"It's not what you're thinking." Kuramochi says even before Sawamura can open his mouth, "Definitely not." He mutters under his breath as he watches you sit up, your face already red. Although he didn't know if it was the fact that his roommates caught you two like that, or because the two suddenly appears and you were getting shy, or both
Most likely both
"Boss is looking for you, Kuramochi-senpai," Sawamura repeats, still looking back and forth between you and Kuramochi
"I-I'll come with you," You immediately offer, already feeling nervous about having to stay in the same room with the others, without Kuramochi helping you to talk to them
"No, you can just stay here." Kuramochi stops you even before you can stand up, "Scared?" He smirks
"Yeah," You say with a straight face as Kuramochi rolls his eyes
"Those guys don't bite," He motions to the others who were just watching you talk among yourselves, they didn't even hear what you two were talking about
"Coach is calling for you-" Sawamura repeats
"Yeah, I got it!" Kuramochi stops Sawamura, walking to the door and feeling three pairs of eyes on him. He could feel that one was begging him to stay while the other two wants to ask him a question that he didn't want to hear

"Coach, you were looking for me?" Kuramochi knocks before entering the room
"Yes," Kataoka was now looking outside the window, catching glimpse of his players who were all doing extra practice
"Did something happen?" Kuramochi asks, watching as Kataoka sighs before turning to look at him
"Nothing," Kataoka says calmly, "Just, thanks for looking after (First name)," Kataoka says, clearing his throat afterward
"Oh," Was the only thing Kuramochi can say, "She's my friend so it's nothing," Kuramochi explains, not expecting to have this conversation with his own coach
"Friend?" Kataoka asks
"Yeah, friend." Kuramochi nods his head, did your own father have no idea that you two were friends? But he takes notice of the surprised look on Kataoka's face and figures that wasn't probably the case
"Coach...what did you think me and (First name) are?" Kuramochi asks slowly as Kataoka stares at him
"I thought that you two were something closer than friends." He sighs, you two were always together and there were times he saw you and Kuramochi getting too close. Was that really just friends? Did kids these days have a different definition? He still remembers how he can't even let his shoulder make contact with your mother's shoulder when they were just friends
Besides, that was what everyone was saying
Kuramochi could feel the heat coming to his cheeks as he stares at his coach, "That's not the case! That's definitely not the case!" He says in panic when he asks you out then he figured that he should also tell your father first, out of respect
'Wait...when I ask her out?' Kuramochi repeats the question in his mind as the room was filled with silence
"When you ask her out?" Kataoka repeats the question as Kuramochi immediately closes his mouth
"No! That wasn't supposed to come out- I was just panicking!" Kuramochi tries to explain himself as Kataoka watches him. Kuramochi was embarrassing himself in front of his own coach and that just adds fuel to the fire
"Anyway," Kuramochi coughs, "Thanks for looking after (First name). I trust her with you." Kataoka nods as Kuramochi calms down, although his face was still red
"Thanks, coach. I'll get going then." He bows before leaving the room

Back in his room, you focus on your game, but since you can feel someone's eyes on you, you couldn't help but glance at Sawamura and Masuko who were staring at you intently
Your eyes widen when you three make eye contact before you bring your attention back to your game
"(First name)-san," You jump in surprise when you hear Sawamura so close to you
"Huh?!" You ask in surprise, already feeling your face heat up as the pitcher stares at you
"Are you going out with Kuramochi-senpai?" He asks, excitement in his eyes as he even leans closer to you
"Wha-what?" You stammer out
"Look Masuko-senpai, she's blushing!" Sawamura points at you as Masuko nods, smiling contently as he eats his pudding
"So you are? Don't worry, we won't tell the coach," Sawamura continues to make you talk as your mind goes blank
"You're not denying it?"
"N-no!"
"No, what?"
"Me and Kuramochi...we're not...I'm not his-" You use your hands to make gestures
As far as you were concerned, you two were just friends. Sure, you two can sometimes be a bit too close, but that was only because you two are really really comfortable with one another! Yeah, that's it!
"Really? Aw," Sawamura's shoulders drop, "Well, I get you, senpai can be a bit rough," He shakes his head in disapproval, "He also sometimes talks in his sleep," Sawamura continues to tell you stories about Kuramochi as you listen to him, occasionally Masuko would add something
Kuramochi shakes his head before he opens the door to his room, wanting to remove whatever idea he got in his brain about you. You were his friend, nothing more. Yeah! He was just panicking earlier, so he ended up thinking that way
With that in mind, Kuramochi opens the door just to see Sawamura leaning close to you as he tells you something with his loud voice as you listen to whatever his junior was saying
"Oi, what the hell are you doing?" Kuramochi walks over to you and Sawamura
"Oh, senpai, you're Heww-!" You couldn't understand what Sawamura was saying after Kuramochi uses his hand to push Sawamura's face away from you
"What did that idiot say?" He asks, looking at Sawamura who was blinking at him
Sawamura suddenly gasps, "Senpai, are you-" The first year smiles, "Jealous?" He grins as Kuramochi's eyebrows twitch before he cracks his knuckles and walks toward Sawamura
You had to give it to Sawamura, he was brave to say that
You had to watch Kuramochi wrestle Sawamura
"Um..." You trail off, looking at Masuko who was just watching the whole thing, Masuko feels your eyes on him so he offers you a pudding
"Um, tha-thanks," You say
"Don't worry, he won't die." He reassures you before going back to watch, he was also quiet

"Is Sawamura even alright after that?" You ask Kuramochi as you two walk beside each other, you two ended up running out of snacks so you two decided to make a quick trip to the convenience store
"Why, you worried about him?" He asks
"Well, not much...but those moves look painful." It was almost enough to remind you of the games that you enjoy playing, it was like you were watching alive action of some action game
"That guy can handle it." Kuramochi reassures you, holding up a bag of chips, "Want to take this?"
"Yeah." You nod, walking towards the drinks to get yours and Kuramochi's favorite
"Hey, do you also want instant ramen?" He calls after you as you give him a thumbs up, looking through the cold drinks before deciding to get both your usual
"Kids these days," The lady at the counter comments with a smile as she scans your items while you and Kuramochi look at each other
"Did we do anything?" You whisper to Kuramochi
"No, I-I don't really think that's what she's implying." He whispers back as you look at him and notice the slight pink on his ears
Your eyes furrow in confusion, he's blushing? Why? It's not like him to suddenly get shy
But your attention goes back to the lady who was telling you about the price of all the food you two bought
"O-oh okay," You stammer as you grab your wallet, slightly panicking since you didn't want to make the lady wait
"I got it," Kuramochi says, handing the lady the exact amount of money you two need
"What a nice boyfriend you got, missy." She smiles at your eyes widen
"N-no! Please don't get the wrong idea!" You were visibly panicking which causes Kuramochi to sigh
"Thanks, come on." He grabs the plastic bag and pushes you out the door while you still try to process the whole thing and make it clear that the two of you were just friends
"Dude, drop it. Not like she's going to believe you." He says, about to flick your forehead but he remembers the bump on it, so he just lightly hits the back of your head instead
"So we should just let them think that we're dating?" You ask him, "How will you get a girlfriend that way, Kuramochi~" You tease him as he rolls his eyes, once again hitting the back of your head
"Who cares," He huffs as you gasp
"Says the guy who was emailing Sawamura's friend back home!"
"That was-that's not the point!" Kuramochi sputters, kicking you, of course still softly
"Ow!" You glare at him
"Oh, did I do it too hard? Sorry." He apologizes, but he laughs at you while you glare at him and rub the area he kicked
"Anyway," You start once the pain subdues, "So you're telling me to let them talk as if we're dating?" You ask, well it wasn't like you had the best communication skills so you were sure that you won't be able to explain your thoughts properly
"Yeah,"
"Even if girls might think that you're taken?"
"Yeah."
"Even if it's the girl you had a crush on during your first year?"
"Yeah."
"Even if it's the team?"
Kuramochi thinks about it, knowing Sawamura, the first-year would most likely have told the others about what he saw in his room. So even if it was a pain having to deal with the others teasing, he's just going to endure it
"Yeah,"
"Even if-"
"Ah stop it already!" He groans, "Are you that against it?" He admits that there was a slight ache in his chest at the thought, but he wasn't going to say that out loud
"No, it's not that. I'm just worried about you." You sigh, "Dude, think about it. If people think that we're going out, how will you have your high school romance?" You tease him, ducking when he tries to grab you
"I don't care." He says simply, "You're probably worried about what people think since you're the one I have a rumor with, and you're worried that it might cause something bad to happen to me." He says, looking at you as you gape at him
He just figured out your thought just like that! Sometimes you hate how easy he can read you, but you do spend a lot of time with him so it was inevitable
"Don't worry! I don't really care." He laughs as he goes behind you and puts his arms around your neck, basically putting you in a headlock
"Oi, Kuramochi!" You whine, when he tries to jump on your back, laughing hysterically while you struggle
"You dipshit! You're the reason why my hair's a mess!" You try removing his arms around you, but he just continues to laugh at you
"Alright, I'll stop." He stops trying to get carried on your back, and he just loosens the grip of his arms around your neck so you two were left trying to walk with him behind you
"This is the reason why people think what they think." You sigh, looking at Kuramochi
"You look like shit." He comments as he looks back at you, but he doesn't change his position, even when you try nudging him on his stomach
"I wonder why?!" You glare at him as he laughs, making you roll your eyes
"If you only were like this with other people, maybe you'll have more friends." He teases you, as you glare at him
"You want me to let them hang off me on the sidewalk, in the middle of the night?" You ask dryly
"No-don't even try doing that," He gives you a look while you stick your tongue at him, "I meant that you should be more comfortable," He makes it clear as you remain silent and listen to him, even giving up on trying to get his arms off you
"You think they'll find me fun?" You ask
"Yeah, if they don't then who gives a shit." He huffs as you chuckle, and soon silence surrounds you two
"Hey Kuramochi, just so we're clear," You break the silence after a minute and look up at him
"What?"
"I don't really mind it that people think we're dating." You say as you notice the corners of his lips twitch up
"Is that so?"
"Yeah! Think about it, you're basically my shield from creep! Ow ow!" You groan when he suddenly starts tightening his grip on you
"Kidding! I was kidding!" You tap his arms, as he glares at you, but soon he laughs at the sight of your unruly hair
"You asshole! The soda's probably all shaken up now! You're definitely the one opening those!" You try kicking him once he lets you go since he had to lunch his stomach as he laughs at your appearance
You roll your eyes, but couldn't help but chuckle at the sound of his laughter
It was times like this that you were thankful for a friend like Kuramochi, and it was also times like this why whenever you think about it, you never really mind being linked to Kuramochi as his supposed 'girlfriend'
Kuramochi stops laughing and looks up at you who was smiling as you watch him, he can't believe he had to have the coach think that you two were dating to actually figure his feelings out. But he wasn't going to confess yet. But the more he thinks about it, wasn't your conversation earlier enough?
Whatever, he was going to give it some more time, and maybe once you two have this conversation again, he can confess...he just hopes he gets the courage to do it and that you would accept his confession
