"hi" noa said to the girls at the table, who all returned a small smile to her, before returning to their previous conversations. noa turned to look at belly, who looked extremely nervous, comfortingly placing her hand atop of the younger girls reassuring her.
"i told my mom the only way i would do this was if i could bring my girlfriend, cause i thought it would be a deal killer, but the club has been surprisingly chill about the whole thing" a girl at the table ranted
"i'm honestly shocked"
"literally, dara i was expecting a conversion camp to spring out of the bushes. no. lesbians and debutantes are like completely juxtaposing ideas, opposites." the girl continued
"yeah, but cousins likes to pretend to be woke. trust me. my family deals with it constantly. the thing we do for college applications. it's insane"
"don't worry marissa, you'll get in everywhere" a girl noa has learnt is named nicole smiled at marissa.
"wait. where are you applying?" belly asks chiming in
"you know, the usual. every ivy minus cornell" marissa responded, "what about you?"
"oh, belly's only a sophomore. right?" nicole asks, "i think that what conrad told me"
noa's eyebrows furrowing at the mention of her boyfriend, was this the girl he used to date?
"yeah, i-i'll be a junior in the fall." belly smiled nodding
"so, is this your first summer in cousins?" another girl asked belly.
"no, i've been coming here my entire life. but... it is noa's first summer here" belly smiled drawing the girls attention to the brunette sitting next to her.
"oh really?"
"you seemed familiar?"
"yeah, it's funny though, i feel like i've been here before, jsut from all the stories i hear from con all the time" noa laughed
"wait con? as in conrad, conrad fisher? how do you know him?" nicole began to interrogate the girl, but before she could answer, a girl she recognised from the bonfire saved her, shayla.
"noa is conrad girlfriend, almost a year now isn't it?" shayla asked
"yeah, a year next week"
"i bet you guys are the cutest" gigi smiled
"you should have seen them at the bonfire, steven introduced me they were all so lovey dovey" shayla smiled, making noa blush and hide her face at her word,
"yeah so adorable" belly whispered to herself sarcastically, unknown to her, noa heard the whisper.
"well anyway lets move on, not all of us have cute mysterious boyfriends to be adorable with. belly are you and jeremiah a thing?" gigi asked not so subtly.
"oh my god back of geeg" nicole chimed in again
"it was a question"
"they're practically related" nicole laughed, making both belly and noa furrow their eyebrows who was this girl? "you have nothing to worry about"
"i'm not worried" gigi clarified, it was quite obvious gigi was into jeremiah.
"yeah sure keep telling yourself that babe" shayla laughed before turning to look at noa and belly, "gigi has had this thing for jeremiah ever since he got abs?" gigi glaring at her, "relax i'm not into jeremiah fisher."
"yeah, and you're noticing his abs?"
"ooh, no she's too busy eye fucking the waiter" marissa laughed
"dude shut up, that's belly's brother"
"oh that's gross" belly gagged before shovelling food in her mouth
"so, what's it like living with jeremiah and conrad?" marissa asked belly
"yeah conrad's so mysterious"
"uh- that's probably a question for noa she sees them more than i do" belly laughed, making noa smile.
"do you stay at the fishers a lot?" they all looked at noa with wide, curious eyes.
"oh a bit, we kinda switch between each others houses" noa shrugged
"oooh tell us more!"
but before she could, tell them more paige interrupted, telling the girls more about the deb ball and their tea.

after the awkwardness of the high tea came to an end noa couldn't wait to escape the country club and go see her boyfriend. as she walked into the house she greeted susannah before heading upstairs to conrad and her room, opening the door to find him reading a book. strange. he hasn't read in months.
"watcha reading?"
"some sailing book? not sure, i was just bored, waiting for you to come back" conrad smiled placing the book down, reaching for noa who walked towards him with a smile.
"you look gorgeous" his eyes trailed the girl as he pulled her closer to him, "how was the tea?"
"it was alright" she sighed before her mouth turned up into a grin, "i met your ex"
the boy choked on his own saliva, "you what?"
"nicole, i met nicole"
"oh"
"bit annoying, she's definitely still into you" noa chuckled,
"you expect her to not be? baby did you forget the hot piece of ass your dating?" conrad smirked
"i'm dating a hot piece of ass? last i recalled i was dating the desperate boy who followed me around school until i finally caved and went to the movies with him." noa tapped her chin
"alright babe let's not act like that wasn't the greatest date of your entire life." conrad laughed
"it was? gees i thought lachie wills in 9th grade had you beat, he took me to the drive in just so you know, his brother drove and everything" she spoke
"lachie wills? that loser? wait his brother took you guys, didn't you date his brother?" conrad laughed confusedly
"maybe, maybe not" she shrugged, "but it doesn't matter who i dated, you're my number one conrad fisher"
"you're my number one too eleanoa james. you know i would give you the stars if i could noa" conrad looked at her, eyes filled with love.
"you can't give me stars but you can give me something else" noa said with a flirty tone raising her eyebrows at the boy
"sounds pretty good to me" conrad agreed as he fell back on his bed pulling noa on top of him, flipping her over kissing down her neck, his hands beginning to lift up her shirt.
"knock, knock"
"noa are you in there?"
the pair of teenagers pulled apart at the sound of belly's voice
"hey what's up?" noa pulled the door open, belly taking in her flushed appearance, looking behind the girl to see the equally as flushed boy behind her scratching his head.
"um did you want to help me get ready for date with cam?" belly asked
"omg yes, i'd love too" noa smiled, before rushing over to conrad leaving him with a peck on his cheek "i'll be back love you" she said as she ran out of the room behind belly. leaving a shocked, flushed and now annoyed conrad in his room.
"bye i guess"
