Y/n woke up early
And being the innocent child they are, they decided to go look for their mother
"Mommy?"
The small child called out, in hopes of getting an answer
But all they got was silence
They walked a bit more until they bumped into Sara
"Miss Sara, do you know where mommy is?"
Y/n asked the woman
Sara shook her head, but picked up the small child
"Your mothers may be busy, how about we go play outside?"
She asked
Y/n smiled and nodded
Sara walked out the doors of tenshukaku with y/n in her arms
Knowing ei, she was most likely in her plane of euthymia, or she was busy with her work
The sun was fully up at this point, a lot of kids were in the streets playing, and some people were working
Sara put y/n down so they could play, this time being more wary of her surroundings because of what happened last time
Y/n rushed to go play with their friend, Yui, who had noticed them aswell
"Y/n!"
Yui called out
Y/n waved at her
"I saw a fox"
Yui said
Y/n's eyes widened
"Fox? where?"
They asked
"Out there! mommy says I can't go alone because it's too dangerous, but I really wanna go see the fox again, will you help me sneak out of town?"
Yui pleaded
Y/n knew Sara was watching them, so they did the only reasonable thing that came to mind
"Sara, can I go see a fox?"
They asked
Sara stared down at the two children in front of her
"Does Yui's mother allow her?"
Sara asked
Y/n and Yui both started sweating
"N-"
Yui interrupted y/n before they could answer
"Yes!"
Yui said
Sara hummed
"I will come with you, to make sure nothing bad happens"
Sara said
Y/n and Yui both smiled
The trio walked out of the city with Yui telling them where she saw the fox
They reached a certain area full of foxes
"Fox!"
Y/n said in an excited tone
A baby fox came up to y/n, sniffed them, and rubbed it's head on their legs
"The fox likes me miss Sara!"
Y/n said
Sara nodded
Y/n picked up the fox, holding it like they'd hold a toy
"No, y/n you might hurt the fox if you pick it up like that, hold it like this"
Sara said as she made y/n hold the fox like you'd hold a baby
Y/n smiled
"Baby!"
They said
Yui, petted the fox in y/n's arms
"Does the baby have a parent, miss Sara?"
Y/n asked
Sara shrugged
"All the foxes here have their own baby, maybe the fox doesn't have parents"
Y/n hummed
None of the foxes seemed to pay much attention to the baby fox
Yui then spotted an injured fox in the corner
"Look! It's hurt!"
Yui said as she ran toward the fox
Sara picked up y/n and ran toward Yui
"Oh no, is it okay?"
Y/n asked
Sara put y/n down, and started to check the fox's injuries
"Well..."
The fox was already dead, but Sara didn't want to break the children's hearts
"The fox is...asleep...and it won't wake up for a very long time"
Sara said
Y/n and Yui stared at the dead fox
"So...can I keep the baby?"
Y/n asked
Sara chocked on her own spit
"You wan't to keep the baby?"
Sara asked
Y/n nodded
"Alright...we will ask your mother if you can, if she allows it, you can keep it, alright?"
Sara asked
Y/n nodded, smiling
A few hours later, Yui returned home, and so did y/n
When Sara entered tenshukaku, a worried ei, came into view
"Sara, did you take y/n this morning?"
ei asked, not noticing y/n who was beside Sara
"Yes, they are here"
Sara said
ei looked at y/n and sighed in relief
"You're ok, that's good...why do you have a fox in your arms?"
ei asked as she looked at the fox in her child's arms
"I wanna keep the baby!"
Y/n said, staring into ei's eyes
"Alright, you can keep the baby"
ei said, giving in to the child's puppy eyes
"Yay!"
Y/n said as they ran to their room so they could play with the baby fox
ei then turned to Sara
"Sara, next time you take y/n out, tell me first"
She said
"Understood"
Sara said
"You can go now"
ei said
Sara nodded and walked out the door to go train
ei then went to y/n's room to see them already asleep beside their fox
She smiled and picked y/n up, laying them down on their bed and covering them with a blanket
She then picked up the baby fox and put it down beside y/n
"Goodnight, y/n"
ei said as she turned off the light and closed the door, leaving the room
