You stood up rubbing your eyes, and Sabito was still there. You walked towards him, and noticed that it looks like he's grown. He's your age. You stuck your hand out and touched his face. Your hand surprisingly didn't go though him. You could feel his skin on your fingertips. You instinctively pulled him in for a hug and whispered, "Are you really here? You're not dead?" He hugged you back and said, "I am. I just thought I should come and visit. I don't like it when you and Tomioka fight." You hugged him tighter, "I love you." He placed his hand on the back of your head and said, "Rengoku is a good man. You know that?" How come he didn't say it back?

You nodded and asked, "Where's Makomo?" She muttered from behind Sabito, "I'm right here." She too had aged, but was still very short. You picked her up by her shoulders and hugged her tightly. "I've missed you so much! You look so pretty, just like I remember!" She giggled while hugging you back. "Mitsuri seems like a good friend y/n. She's very upbeat isn't she?" You looked back at Tomioka, who was still frozen with shock. Sabito laughed, "Aren't you going to hug me, freak?" Giyuu walked up to him and held out his hand. Sabito firmly shook it while pulling him in for a hug. Giyuu whispered, "I'm so sorry."

Sabito held out one arm, wanting you and Makomo to join in on the hug. So you did. Makomo whispered, "We have to go now. Please get along you two." Sabito spoke as he faded away, "Goodbye Giyuu, goodbye y/n." All you could whisper through tears was, "Don't leave. Don't leave!" You shut your eyes and continued to hug them. After a good minute, Tomioka whispered, "Y/n, they're gone." You opened your eyes to see you were hugging Giyuu tightly, and he was hugging you back.

You stepped away from Tomioka and stuttered, "W-What was that? We're we just talking to each other? We're we seeing things?" Tomioka shook his head, "No, they were here, I swear." You heard a voice call, "Hey, what are you guys doing?" It was Rengoku. Your turned around to see him only in pajama pants. Tomioka groaned, "Put on a damn shirt." Rengoku looked down at his toned abs and asked, "What's the matter Tomioka? Y/n didn't have a problem with it last night." Giyuu looked at you and questioned, "Did you have a problem with it?"

You're face was warm, and very red. You were too flustered too speak, let alone deny his question. All you could murmur was, "I-" But Giyuu cut you off before you could finish your sentence. "My copartner can't have a boyfriend. Boys are distractions, Kyojuro. Stay away or else." Then he started stomping away. You followed behind Giyuu and yelled, "Hey, we're not dating!"

He muttered, "Yeah right. You don't get to speak or look at him anymore. If he's going to be a distraction to you while fighting then I suggest you follow my orders. Stay away from him." You caught up to Giyuu and held his arm, "Why do you care so much anyway? You're being irrational He's my friend!" He pulled his arm away from you and said, "I don't care if I'm being irrational. You belong with Sabito, he-" Was he back on this? Sabito? You raised your voice, "Obviously I do! You're just-" He shouted, "Stop yelling damnit!" You heinously said, "I could be with Sabito if he wasn't stupid enough to sacrifice himself for someone like you."

He rolled his eyes, "My god, dramatic much? Stop being a-" Shinobu yelled, "What the hell are you two arguing about?!" You noticed she wasn't in her kimono, instead wearing Giyuu's. You asked Tomioka, "Where are her clothes? Why is she wearing that?" His eyes widened at the sight of her. He also looked like he didn't know why she was wearing that. He mumbled, "Give me a second." He walked towards her, and pushed her inside. He slammed the door behind him, and you couldn't help but put your ear up to it.

Tomioka asked, "Why are you wearing my haori? And where is yours? Y/n probably thinks we slept together!" She apologized, "Sorry, I needed to change. I couldn't find anything else." He stated, "Well go get your kimono from out of my room, and change back into it. Put my haori in the wash while your at it. Germs are a thing." Shinobu asked, "You don't think I look nice in it?" He backtracked, "Uh, sure? I just want it back." You leaned up against the door to quickly find out it wasn't locked. You flopped onto the floor, right in the middle of their conversation. You whined, "I'm sorry. I just need to grab my- my uh... My socks." Shinobu stated, "You know eavesdropping is creepy, right?" You replied, "I find it creepy you're still even here."

She glared at you for a few seconds, seeing red. This time when she spoke, she didn't smile politely like usual. "I'll just go change." She came out of Giyuu's room a few minutes later, and didn't say goodbye. She only stormed out of the estate. Giyuu scoffed, "Damnit. She didn't even put my haori in the wash!" He paused, "Whatever. Im going back to bed, so don't be loud. You can go back to bed too if you want. I'm sorry for waking you so early." You looked around the room, and spotted a calendar. All of the days of February had red x's all the way up to the 8th. You remembered celebrating his birthday a few years ago on the 8th. It's his birthday, and he didn't say anything? Based on the way he's been treating you he doesn't deserve a happy birthday.

You beamed, "Okay! You should go get some sleep, like right now." He looked confused as to why you were so eager for him to go to sleep, but said, "Uhh, okay." He turned around and headed for his room. You watched as he closed the door, and tried to think of something that he'd like. It was kind of depressing that you couldn't think of anything, though you lived with him for 3 whole years. Even if he doesn't like cake, it's the thought that counts. You didn't have a recipe, and you didn't know how to make cake from scratch. But experimenting is a good thing to do. As you got out all the ingredients, you stared at them wondering what comes first.

Butter, right? That's how Mr. Urokodaki always made standard cakes. You winged all of the measurements on all of the ingredients, well aware the cake most likely wasn't going to turn out. But to your astonishment, the cake turned out perfect. It wasn't over cooked or undercooked. Just perfect. You were kind of exhausted, and the kitchen was a mess, but what kind of cake doesn't have frosting? After the frosting was made, you separated it into two. The main frosting for the cake was blue, and the details were in white. You didn't know you were good at making cakes, but the blue buttercream frosting was so smooth it looked almost store bought. You lined the cake with the white, frosting and one of those fancy tips so it looked nice. You used your very best cursive to pipe, 'Happy Birthday Tomioka!' Once you finished frosting it, you almost cried. It looked so perfect you didn't want anyone to eat it. After you finished admiring the cake, you looked up at the mess. You reluctantly cleaned it up, because you didn't want him to have to clean up a disaster on his birthday.

Someone asked, "What kind of cake is that?" You turned around to find Makomo and Sabito standing behind you. You smiled, "Oh hey guys! It's just a regular cake." Sabito asked, "You put the butter in first, right?" You stated, "Yeah. Since when did you guys know how to bake?" Makomo replied. "We do a lot of baking back on Mt. Fujikasane." You questioned, "Mt. Fujikasane? You mean where the final selection was held?" She nodded. "Yes, that's where all of our souls go. We aren't supposed to be here." You asked, "What? Why not?" Sabito told, "We can be here, but we're not supposed to visit too often, and no more than twice a day."

Makomo continued, "We heard you and Tomioka arguing after we asked you not to." You apologized, "I'm sorry. He wants me to never date anyone ever again other than you, Sabito." Sabito replied, "If I were still alive, I would've already wed you once we turned eighteen, and we'd be starting our family just about now. But you're correct. We can't get married because I'm not alive. Tomioka needs to accept that, and let you move on." Makomo giggled, "Alright lovebirds! We originally came here to give you this." She placed a notecard in your hand, that looked to be empty. You flipped it over to see a detailed recipe on how to bake a cake.

You thanked them as they slowly started to fade away. "Thanks I guess. This could've been useful earlier.." Sabito uttered, "One last thing before I go. I wanted to let you know how important it is to me that you find someone and have a big family. I too have found someone in the afterlife, and her name is Kanae. I want you to be just as happy as I am. We're thinking about having children sometime this year or next year, and I'm overjoyed. I'll let you meet Kanae and my children sometime." It felt like someone had shot you in the heart once those words left his mouth.

Was it reasonable for you to feel like that? You spent four years of your life, still devoted to Sabito. Little did you know he was already building a relationship with someone else. You put on a fake smile and muttered, "Oh, okay. Goodbye." The two smiled and waved as they disappeared into thin air. You felt your eyes start to sting, your nose got tingly, and tears streamed down your face. You picked up the platter the cake was on and knocked on Tomioka's door.

You heard the sound of him pulling his covers off of himself and standing up. He pulled the door open, and stared at the cake in your hands expressionlessly. You shakily whispered, "Just take it. Happy birthday." He looked up at you, and his impassive face morphed into a look of slight annoyance. He took the cake out of your hands and placed it on the dresser right beside him. He asked, "What's wrong? Being a baby again?" You cried, "Sabito just told me he wants to have kids with a girl named Kanae."

You wrapped your arms around Giyuu, and rested your chin on his shoulder, though he didn't hug you back. He whispered, "Kanae? Shinobu's sister?" Your mouth trembled as you replied, "Oh, is she? That just makes it so much better." He pushed you off of himself and said, "Your staining my shirt." He paused. "You should go talk to Sanemi. Him and Kanae had a thing I think."
