"(First name)-nee!" You can hear Sawamura's loud voice calling after you, making you chuckle as you immediately crossed the road so you can give your little brother a well-deserved hug
"You didn't have to pick me up." You pat his hair as he looks up to you, the wide smile never leaving his face as he once again jumps onto you for a hug
You two did have quite a close relationship, you still remember how lonely you felt when Sawamura had to move to Tokyo for Baseball. But in the end, even if you were sad, you didn't say anything since you knew it could help Sawamura grow as a player
But you were now in the same city, you just checked some potential apartments and the university you were going to, so now you had time to spend with your little brother
"How long are you going to be here?' Sawamura asks, finally letting you go as he anticipates your answer
"I guess, about two days?" You say, your school gave third-year students a week off to look into universities. Besides, it wasn't like you had anything else to do. Your exams already ended and all there was left was graduation
"Yosha!" He cheers, even raising both his hands in the air
"Don't you have training?" You raise your eyebrows in amusement as he puts his hands down, you almost felt bad about reminding him when he looks like a dog that's been kicked
"Well, let's forget about it for the moment, should we go?" You clasp a hand on his shoulder as he once again grows excited, even telling you about almost everyone on the team
--
"So, you're his roommate, thank you for taking care of Eijun." You smile at Kuramochi who was gaping at you, frozen as he still tries to process the fact that Sawamura has an older sister. A very attractive older sister
"Yeah, you can count on me to take care of him." He smiles as Sawamura furrows his eyebrows at Kuramochi, not used to how suave he looks
"Mochi-san, are you o-" Sawamura closes his mouth once Kuramochi turns to him, the charming smile directed at you turning into an evil one
"What was that, Sawamura?"
"Nothing!" He laughs, pulling your hand, "I'll introduce you to my master!" Sawamura pulls you out of the dormitories as you follow behind him, saying goodbye to Kuramochi as you let Sawamura take you
"The third years are in the cafeteria." He says, pulling you to the said place
"Master, I-huh?" He looks around the almost empty room, the only one there was Yuki, who seems like he was preoccupied with something
"Oh, leader!" Sawamura yells, running towards the former captain, with you following behind him
"Sawamura." Yuki looks up from the shogi board and up at you, giving you one glance before he looks back to Sawamura
"This is my big sister!" He introduces you
"Nice to meet you." You wave at him as he bows politely
Your eyes trail from his face down to the shogi board that was on the table
"Were you playing with someone?" You ask him as he shakes his head
"I was focusing on the game and didn't notice everybody left." He frowns
"You were playing on your own?" You ask once more as he nods
"Miyuki said he had something to do, and the others didn't want to play." He frowns as you look back at the board, you weren't an expert, but your grandfather often invites you to play with him. Which was why you can tell that his strategy wasn't the best, or perhaps it was because he was playing by himself?
"Sawamura let's play." You and your little brother stare back at him as he looks back at the two of you, you three stay in that position for at least a minute before someone opens the door that leads to the room
"Sawamura! Coach's calling for you!" Asou yells as he enters the room, only stopping when he sees you two whip your head towards him in sync, Yuki soon follows, so now all attention was on Asou
"Huh? But I'm with my big sister!" Sawamura was ready to complain but you merely place a hand on his shoulder to calm him down
"Don't worry, I'll be here to wait. Go to your coach." You coax him as he reluctantly stares at you, you weren't that familiar with the place and people so he wasn't sure what he was supposed to do
"I'll stay here and play shogi with your senior." You reassure him, lightly pushing him towards Asou who was watching everything with a confused look on his face
"What the hell?" He mutters as he walks out with Sawamura, leaving you with Yuki
"Well, if we're playing together then I might as well introduce myself. I'm Sawamura (First name)." You sit on the chair in front of Yuki as he nods
"I'm Yuki Tetsuya." He introduces himself as well, "Should we start from the beginning?" He asks you, motioning for the board as you nod, you two then start fixing the pieces so they were symmetrical to one another and so you can start a new game
"I win." You announce after not even thirty minutes
"You're good." Yuki nods
"Thanks, how long have you been playing?" You ask him
"Since middle school." You remain silent at his answer, you definitely thought he was a beginner or someone who just picked it up recently
"Oh." You answer after almost a minute, "You must really enjoy it." You smile, not wanting to make him feel like he was bad at it, he wasn't bad but he can definitely improve
"I do," He smiles, "Shall we have another round?" He asks
"Sure." You agree, once again arranging your pieces on the board so you two can have another game
"I have lost," Yuki admits defeat for the umpteenth time
You couldn't help but giggle at the expression on his face, from what you noticed, he was often stoic, but upon closer look, he was actually pouting because of all the times he lost
"What's so funny?" He asks, removing his gaze from the Shogi board and up at you
"Nothing, I just thought of something cute." You smile, "Shall we have another game?" You offer
Yuki cocks his head slightly to the side out of confusion as to why you were laughing, but at the mention of another game, he immediately sits up properly and soon you feel something intimidating from his side
'Wow, he's really motivated to win this.' You couldn't help but chuckle as you watch him glare at the Shogi pieces on the board, most likely thinking of his next move
"I...I lose" Yuki says, faltering for a moment before admitting his defeat
"Well, it was a good game." You smile at him, turning to look at the clock to see its almost been three hours since Sawamura was gone
"Huh? He's still not done?" You comment out loud as Yuki follows your gaze
"Sawamura, huh?" He says, "Do you want me to take you to the coach's office?" He offers
"Are you sure? Don't you want to continue playing?" You ask him but he shakes his head
"I think...I may need to read my book." He says, "I need to once again read about the strategies." He nods to himself, thinking about his Shogi book while you blink at him in confusion
"O...okay?" You answer with uncertainty, "Shall we go then?" You ask him as he nods, he first organizes his Shogi board and pieces before he follows you out
"You must really like Shogi, huh?" You try to start a conversation with him, you might as well get to know Sawamura's senior
"I do, it's fun." He says shortly
"Is, that so." You laugh, not knowing how to move the conversation forward, he really didn't leave any opening for you to continue
"You're good, how long have you been playing?" Now he was the one asking questions, you turn to him to see that he was genuinely curious about you
"I've been playing since I was a kid, my grandpa often pulls me to play with him." You could vividly remember how much he thought you, and how he would bet with you about it. If you win, then he would buy you popsicles, if you lost then you have to wash the dishes, or help him with whatever chores he had to do around the house
"That must have been fun." Yuki notices the fond expression on your face as you answer
"It was." You grin, "Playing Shogi brings back good memories," You say lightheartedly as Yuki agrees with you, also remembering his own matches with his brother
"Maybe if we meet each other next time then we can play again." You were still smiling as you said those words, Yuki smiles softly himself
"I think that would be fun." He agrees as you two stop in front of the coach's office, just as Sawamura goes out, stomping on his way as behind him, Miyuki laughs
"(First name)-nee!" He shouts, "I was just coming to get you!" He tells you and looks at your side to see Yuki
"Thanks for keeping my sister safe, leader!" He salutes to Yuki who nods
Yuki then turns to you, "I won't lose to you next time." He announces, before going toward Miyuki who was watching the whole thing
Sawamura looks at you and back at Yuki, thinking that you two had some sort of fight for the captain to say something so serious
"(First name)-nee, don't worry, even if he's our leader, I'll have your back." Sawamura points at himself proudly as you laugh and ruffle his hair
"Alright, thank you then." You smile
Yuki stops asking Miyuki to play with him to look at you and Sawamura, smiling at how well you two were getting along
Miyuki almost uses the chance to escape, but in the end, Yuki catches him
"I need to practice for the next time we fight," Yuki says seriously to Miyuki
"Tetsu-san...did you get into a fight with Sawamura's sister?"
------
"College, here I come." You take a deep breath before entering the premises of Meijin University, after enrolling and moving into your new apartment, the only problem you had was getting used to the new environment and making friends
You walk around the large campus, thankfully on your first day the professors haven't given you anything new to do and just introductions on the subjects you were taking
"Oh, sorry." You apologize when you accidentally bump shoulders with someone
"It's nothing...Sawamura's big sister?" Your eyes widen as you look behind you to see your brother's senior. It's been almost a month since you two saw each other at Seidou
"Yuki...Yuki Tetsuya right?" You ask him as he nods, "Woah, I didn't expect to see you here." You laugh
"I didn't as well, you're going here?" He asks as you nod, smiling, although you two weren't close, it was nice to see someone you already talked to in the past
"It's nice to see you again, Yuki." You say honestly, "Oh, were you going somewhere?" You ask, worried that you might have kept him from looking around, or worse, attending class
"I was just going to get food, would you like to go with me?" He asks, "We can talk about when we'll have our rematch there." He adds as you laugh, so he still hasn't forgotten about your Shogi game
"Alright, let's go." Yuki nods as you two walk towards the cafeteria, you expect him to only talk about Shogi, but surprisingly, he was also answering your questions that had no connection to the game
You smile through the conversation, even though this was only the second time you talked with Yuki, you had a feeling that the two of you were going to get along, maybe even be great friends
But, perhaps Sawamura can wait for a bit before hearing about your friendship with his former captain
