"Dad I still don't understand why you made us move here." I say annoyed while walking in the house.
"Drop the attitude you know why." He says also annoyed.
I roll my eyes and take my bags up to my room. I start to unpack before getting bored.
I walk downstairs.
"I'm going to go walk around!" I yell to my dad who's in the kitchen.
"Okay be careful!" He yells back.
"I will!"
I walk outside. It doesn't take long for me to hear people cheering. Out of curiosity I move closer. It's a baseball game.
I have nothing better to do. I sit down next to a girl who looks a little younger.
"Come on Finney!" She yells. I look back over to the field. Someone's about to pitch.
"He the pitcher or the batter?" I ask the girl. She looks at me surprised.
"Finney's the pitcher. He's my brother." She says.
"Alrighty." I say nodding.
Finney then pitches and strikes the boy out.
"He's got a good arm." I say.
"Yeah." The girl says.
"I'm Y/n." I say sticking out my hand.
"Gwen." She says shaking my hand. "Are you new?" She asks.
"Yeah just moved in today." I say.
"Wow."
It doesn't take long for the game to end.
Finney walks out and goes over to Gwen.
"Good job Finney." She says.
"Thanks Gwen. Who's this?" He asks looking at me.
"I'm Y/n." I say.
"Finney." He says. "Or just call me Finn."
"Shes new here." Gwen says.
"Really?" Finn asks as he starts to walk.
"Yeah." I say following.
"No offense but why would you want to move here?" Gwen asks me.
"I didn't. My mom died and well we had to move." I say looking down.
"I'm sorry." Gwen says.
"It's alright."
"What's it like here?" I ask.
"Well it's not good." Gwen says.
"What do you mean?"
"Well there's a bunch of kidnappings right now."
"What?"
"Yeah they call him The Grabber." Gwen says.
"Oh my god."
"Are people at school nice at least?"
"Depends who you ask."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"We get picked on a lot at school. Beaten up even." Gwen says.
"What the fuck? Not while I'm here." I say. They just smile at me.
"Well I turn right here." I say.
"We'll walk you home it's not smart to walk alone." Finn says.
"Okay thanks."
They walk me to the house.
"Well this is my house." I say.
"Okay. Are you going to school tomorrow?"
"Yeah that's the plan." I say.
"Maybe we'll have classes together." Finn says.
"Hopefully." I say.
"Well we'll see you tomorrow." Gwen says.
"Bye."
I walk in and they walk away.
"Making friends already I see." Dad says sitting on the table.
"Yup." I say before turning around and walking upstairs.
I finish unpacking before showering and laying down.
In the morning I shower and get dressed. Dads out looking for a job so I have to get to school on my own.
I skip breakfast and walk to the door. I open it and see Finn and Gwen.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Oh hi." Gwen says.
"What are you guys doing?" I ask.
"Well we're here to walk with you to school." Gwen says.
"I could've used a warning." I say walking out, locking the door behind me.
"Sorry." Finn says.
"Lead the way." I say giggling softly.
We start walking.
Before we get to the school three girls come up to Gwen. One grabs her by the collar.
"Where you going Gwenny?" She asks.
"Come on let her go." Finn says.
"What are you gonna do Finney?" Another asks her.
"You cocksucking bitch." Gwen says to the girl.
She hits Gwen. Another goes to join in and I push her.
"Don't fucking touch her." I say. By now people had crowded around us.
"Bitch." She says about to hit me. She swings and I duck and swing back. She falls. I turn and face the other girl about to hit me. I kick her leg and punch her.
She moves back.
The one holding Gwen pushes her off and walks over to me.
"Who are you newbie?" She asks looking me up and down.
"Y/n. Y/n Y/l/n." I say staring her down.
"Well Y/n you messed with the wrong girls." She says in a fake sweet voice.
"Oh no what am I going to do?" I say mocking her voice. She narrows her eyes.
"It's not like the other two were much competition." I say. People around me laugh.
"Is it our turn now?" I ask in a sweet voice.
"Let's see if you can handle it." She says getting ready to hit me.
She swings and I catch her arm and with my free hand punch her face. She stumbles back before swinging again. I move out of her way. I hit her square in the face.
"Y/n behind you!" Gwen yells. I turn around and see one of the other girls behind me.
"Shit." I mutter. I kick the one in front of me in the face and punch the other one while she's on the floor.
I feel someone grab my arm. I turn to them. It's Finn.
"What the hell?" I say.
"We're going to be late." He says.
"Fine." I say not wanting to be late on the first day.
"Take this as a warning. Fuck with them again and I won't stop." I say before turning around and beginning to walk.
"Y/n that was so cool." Gwen says.
"And dumb." Finn says.
"Oh well." I say.
I go get my schedule and compare it to Finn's. We have a few of the same classes. We don't have the same first or second period though.
I walk to first period and go talk to the teacher.
"Go sit next to Robin." He says.
"Who?" I ask.
"Robin raise your hand." He says. A guy raises his hand. I walk over and sit next to him.
"Hi." I say fidgeting with my necklace.
"Hey." He says. "I saw what you did earlier, it was pretty good." He says.
"Thanks." I say.
A guy walks past and makes his pencil fall.
"Hey dipshit." Robin says. The boy turns to him scared.
"Y- yes?" He asks.
"Pick it up." The boy leans down and picks up his pencil.
"I'm sorry." He says before walking away quickly.
As the class goes on I can't help but laugh at most things Robin whispers under his breath.
The bell rings and we all walk out.
Finn walks with me to lunch since we had the same class before.
We find Gwen and sit with her. After a bit Robin sits with us.
"Oh hey Y/n." He says.
"Hi Robin." I say.
"I'd be surprised if you two don't become close friends." Gwen says.
"Why?" I ask.
"You two are probably the toughest kids in school." She says
"Probably." He says looking at me. I smile.
