I am too sullen to be playful. She has left me, is not even nearby, and though I know she will return--that surely she must always return--I care not to think where they've gone and what his intentions are. He isn't like the other boy, whose advances she was disinclined to accept. I cannot quite grasp her state of mind in regard to this one.
I am troubled. My confidence is shaken, and after all I've done for her! She must not be able to abuse me in this manner.
I will have to discipline her when she returns.
