"Mom, I'm home!" I yelled, hanging up my car keys, "And we have a guest! Please be decent," I mumbled the last part to myself, as I stepped inside my house, Charlotte following closely behind me.

"Hi sweetie!" My mom perked, coming into the hallway from the kitchen, "Who's your friend?"

"Mom, Charlotte, Charlotte, Mom," I said quickly in a manner of introduction, "So, uh, you wanna go get something to eat?" I asked, referring to Charlotte, of course.

"Oh, I just made some lasagna, and there's meatloaf in the fridge if you guys want," Mom perked.

"No, mom, we were planning to go--"

"Oh, thanks Mrs. Richards," Charlotte cut me off, "Lead the way, Hayden."

I frowned, but didn't really argue any further, I was hungry and there was nothing like my mom's meatloaf. I led Charlotte to the kitchen, where we pulled out last night's meatloaf, the lasagna, two bottles of Gatorade, and a huge cookie jar, before loading our haul upstairs to my room.

I know what you're thinking.

How could I bring a complete stranger, who I only met earlier today, home?!

Puh-lease, I'm not marrying her, this is not "Frozen".

Now, I haven't really had many friends, the chances of you having those kinda slips away when, you have several high school drama queens plotting against you, trying to make your life a living hell. So, when Charlotte first said she wanted to hang out with me, I was skeptical. I knew that once the school bells rang and it was time to go inside and meet everyone else, she would drop me like a hot potato and take her rightful place as queen of bitches.

But that didn't happen.

No, instead Charlotte actually stayed with me the entire day, despite my attempts to convince her to, 'leave while there's still hope for you,' or 'go on, save yourself, its too late for me'. Even when, Jessie Regis, came up to her and 'complimented' her on her stilettos, and asked her if she wanted to hang out after school, she practically shut her down, by saying she was gonna hang out with me instead.

Yeah, my jaw was open too.

I didn't know anything about Charlotte, where she was from, where she lived, why in the world she was hanging out with an A-grade loser like me, all I knew was, she seemed to genuinely like me, and wasn't faking when she said she wanted to hang out with me.

But then again, I spent three months with an A-hole, who only pretended to like me, I really shouldn't be the one to deliberate.

We got into my room and I closed the door with my foot, since my hands were busy holding all the food, I placed our haul on my bed, and jumped on it, twisting open a bottle of Gatorade, and taking a sip while I watched Charlotte dig into the lasagna like there was no tomorrow.

"So, uhm, where are you from?" I said awkwardly.

She looked up from her plate, one eyebrow raised, "What is this, a date? Shut up, pass me the meatloaf, and tell me why you were crying today at lunch."

I raised an eyebrow at her, "Why won't you tell me where you're from? Is it because, your an illegal alien who was sent from space to--"

"Los Angeles," she interrupted, "I was kinda born there or whatever, but I don't stay in one place a lot, I recently was transferred here, on account of my 'behaviour'," she said with air quotes, taking a sip of her Gatorade.

"Well, where do you stay?"

"Stalker much?" She smirked.

"No! No, I'm just asking."

"I live in an apartment with my aunt, a couple of blocks from our school.

"Oh, alright," I said, taking another sip.

"So, now that, you know all this pointless information about me, why were you crying at lunch today?"

"I'd rather not talk about it."

"Spill. Now. Don't make me hurt you," she teased, but something about her told me she really would hurt me, if she didn't get her way.

"Well, there's this guy--"

"Oh, great, couldn't you start with something a little less cliche, something like, I just punched Joshua Reynolds in the face, for being a creep," she smirked.

I laughed, "No, you did that."

"Oh, right, continue."

"Well, you know that guy I was avoiding the entire day? The one with the slobbering chick on his neck?"

"Are you kidding? I can't get that freaking image out of my head."

"Yeah, he's kinda my ex," I said sheepishly.

"Been there, seen that," she smirked, "How long ago was the breakup?"

"Uhm, yesterday?" I squeaked.

"What? You guys broke up yesterday and he's got a bimbo on his arm already?!"

"Yep," I sighed, before I proceeded to tell her everything, how he had been dared to date me, how it was all a lie, that he only pretend to like me, and lastly, how he dumped me on the soccer field for Cassie Brookes.

"That mother--"

She proceeded to use a long stream of colorful words, words even I didn't know existed, as she cursed and cursed to her heart's content.

"Its really not that bad, I'm kinda used to it."

"What?!! Please repeat that so I can slap the shit out of you."

"I'm used to it," I shrugged, "Cassie has been stealing my boyfriends, setting me up like this since middle school, I should have actually suspected it I guess, I was just too caught up in the moment to realise it."

"No. No, no, no, no, you're telling me, you've been dealing with this bitch since middle school?"

"Well, more like junior school, but, I didn't really date then, so all she could do was push me off the swing and make the other girls ignore me and stuff like that."

"And you just let her do it? You never thought of payback, or revenge even once?"

"No, not really," I shrugged.

"Holy crap," she sighed, slaping her forehead, "You are one serious piece of work, don't you ever want make payback? Don't you wanna make them feel the way they make you feel? Don't you want Shaun to know how much pain he put you through?"

"Well..."

"So, you do want revenge?" She asked.

"Well, not exactly," I shifted about uncomfortably, like I had done something wrong.

"That's it then, I know exactly what we're gonna do."

"We?"

"Yes, you and me, I'm gonna help you get revenge, I'm gonna help you pay back all those bastards that ever hurt you, we'll get them back sweetheart, and then some."

"But--"

"I swear, they won't know what hit them!" She squealed, rushing to my desk to get a piece of paper, "I have just the plan!"

"But--"

"We may have to spice things up a bit," she frowned, "its all in the details, I promise you, we'll give them such a comeback, they'll be picking up pieces of their lives for decades to come."

"But, I don't wanna make them pay."

"What?"

"I don't wanna hurt them, or make them pay for what they've done to me, I just don't."

"Hold on a second, you're telling me, you don't want revenge on the people that have made your life a living hell, since junior school?!"

"Yes."

"Why the fuck not?!" She growled.

"Well, because, I believe in karma."

"What?" She paused, a small smile appearing on her pretty face.

"I believe that karma will deal with them someday, maybe not now, but one day, and if I'm lucky, I can watch it happen."

"Oh, sweetheart," she purred, "That day, is sooner than you think, and guess what? You're gonna have a front row seat to the show."
