im woken up an onslaugh of very cold cold water. i let out a wild screch and find Carl looking down at me a content look on his mean mean bad face.
"rise and shine " he tells me "im taking you home"
i get up quick and throw my shoes on even quicker. Carl blindfolds me and tapes my hands behind my back before taking me out the building and into a car. i have no idea where he is takin me and i dont know if hes going straigh to town or driving a weird root to confuse me. ether way my sense of direction is terible so it doesnt make diference does it
Around twenty minits later, the car rolls to a stop like a marble
"well it was nice seeing you, grammarly" says carl, a smile in his voic
He esentialy pushes me out the door, stoping only to cut the tape round my wrists. then befor i can even get up and take of the blindfold, i hear the car drive away. i sigh an rub my wrists together - they are tingly, half numb afte being taped together. my hands still sting from the glass, and i push my blinfold off carefuly.
its bright and i find myself squinting. then i realize where i am: the backstret behind jasmine's house. i panic slightly. of corse i woul like to see jasmine, but i cant let her see me like this. I look like i got.. well, like i gott kidnaped and attacked!
I try to think of who i could call. my dad? i grimace, no if he saw me he'd run into batle straight away. my mom? but i need to talk to her first, she sems to have secrets. Satan wil go angry... kai is not to be trusted. i dont want to put asda into danger...
I let out a frusrate grunt. "ugh"
then it hits me. whar about noah? one of satan's angels. it did not strike me that he always agred with kai's actions. and he has ben nice to me, but i have not sen him around that much like kai has ben hanging out wth me. so hes probably not a spy.. right?
then i remember that i dont have his number. or a phoen to even call him on.
i kick out angry AGH why did this have to hapen!!!???
then i remember somthing else: i know tina's number - my dad's right hand womann - of by heart. just in case this kind of thing hapened. so now all i need is a phone.
i knock on the door of one of jasmine's neighbors, puling my hair forward so it covers my cut. A woman opens the dor and blinks at me "ar you ok honey" she asks kindly
"hey" i say with a big smile "im so sory to bother you, but i was goin to ask if it was ok if i could just phone my mom from your phone? mine died and im kind of stranded"
she gives me aconcerned look. "of corse hon" then she pause like tv "do you need me to cal anyone else? you look a litel.." she trails off uncomfotable and i see her eyes dip to my hands, which are prety cut up
i quckly put them behind my back. "im fine" i say "i just need to call my mom"
she nods slowly "well ok then, here you go" she hands me a phone "ill go get you some water
i thank her and dial tina's number/ thankfuly she answers on the third ring
"Hello, who is this?"
"hey tina itsme" i say quickly
"grammarly?" tina asks sudenly sounding alert "ar you ok?"
"uh ye" i say "i just ned a favor"
"name it"

After ending the call, the woman gives me glas of water and i set off. Tina got me noah's adress: he lives not so far away. its the weekend and still quie early morning so hopfully hes not out.
when i get there i let out a long exhale. then i knock on the door, and wait.
twenty seconds later, the door open and noah blinks at me slepily, his hair dishevel
He stares at me. "grammarly? what are you-" his eyes zero in on my mated hair and my hands. his eyes harden "what hapened?"
i bite my lip "i cant tell you"
Noah frown like mr brown "gramarly-"
"i can't tell you" i say, my voice break unexpected like a tooth when you eat peanut
He pulls me inside imediately, then gives me a gentel hug. "how can i help you?"
i pull back and give him a small smile "have a first aid kit?"
"yikES" he say runing hand through his shoulder length brown hair "that bad?
"noah" i tell him "im grateful but" i swalow "no questions"
He gives me a nod "i understand"
Noah goes to get me a first aid kit and leads me to a bathrom. i sit on the edge of the bath, loking blankly at the wall. how did it come to this i wonder? then a feeling of guilt: was i rong to bring noah into this? then paranoia: what if he cant be trusted?
Noah comes in "hey i come baring gifts " he say , holding up a first aid kit and some clothes.
"my sister's" he explain "shes about your size"
"thanks noah"
he lets me change into the tshirt and shorts, then comes back in. i imediately hide my arm behind my back, feling embarased and afraid YE
"gramarly" he says softly "your going to have to show me"
i close my eyes "i dont want to"
"gramnarly look at me"
reluctantly i peel my eyes open like potato and look into noah's stedy gray orbs. slowly, he reaches out his hand and pulls out my arm. he sucks in a breth: my arm has a jaggedm nasty lookin cut, and ring of fingertip size bruises around my wrist.
he gets to work, silently. first he washes my hands, which makes tears prick my eyes like big syringes. then he gets to work on the cut on my arm. everytime he touch my arm im reminded of Carl. that scary horible man! the whole time, i dont make eye contact with noah. lastly he bandage up my arm like its a dead pharo he about to put in pyramid. then he say:
"gramarly, can i se your face?"
i nod small
he tips my head in his direction, tuckin my hair behin my ear. he cleans the cut on my face, which draws from me a biG wince of pain.
"i know it hurts" he wipers "but an infection wil hurt more"
he puts a plaster over it last, then steps back. he gives me asombre look.
"you hungry?"
"im fine" i say, leting my hair cover my face again.
He sighs and pulls me to my feet. "ill make you breakfast"
he half caries me to kitchen. sudenly i feel very weak, from the lack of food and shock and walkin tohis house. he sets me down on kitchen chair, and tells me hell heat up some soup for me
"thanks noah i say quietly.
A few minuts, he sets down a bowl of hot soup in front of me. it takes me barly anytime to eat it at al im so hungry. when im done, noah looks at me.
"so" he say "you cant talk about it"
i shaek my head, and he sighss. "so what are you gonna tell peopel?"
i look at him blankly like im blank peice of paper "wha
"your hands" he say, noding to my hands, then to my face "and that cut"
my shoulders sag like bag "oh i dont know noah. i just- they told me i couldnt tell anyone. but everyone is going to be so ful of question! like where were you, wha happen to youre face-"
"grammarly" he says lookin trobled "what have they got over youre head?"
and i kno i should not say it but i need to tell someone "berk's life" i say softly
Noah holds me like im a fragile vase"i know we don't know ech other that well, but im honored that you trusted me enogh to come here, to me, gramarly. and i swear that i wil help you no matter what"
I hug him back. "thanks noah"
i may be lickin my wounds right now. but mr bossman, i will still be coming for you!!
