i first tried dragonfruit at the age of ten years old.
the taste — nothing
the texture — nothing
it was a fruit, yet it amounted to nothing of actual value.
fruit is a strange thing, yet serves its purpose.
you eat it, it gives you energy, it cycles through your body, then you require more
and more
and more.
my second heartbreak was six years later; at the age of sixteen. this one worse than the last;
everything had amounted to nothing, and went to shit. just as dragonfruit, in the end, amounts to nothing, and goes to.. shit.
i was empty, as to the dragonfruit, which was full of life. this fruit grew, and was tended to, and eventually harvested to be consumed.
i thought long and hard about this concept
so i went to the store; still in tears
and i bought dragonfruit
and enjoyed it
i hadn't enjoyed anything that week, except for that dragonfruit, on the couch, crying next to my mother.
