"Now!"
Camille whispered as Darius dropped a rope from the roof of the building over the railing edge where down below were the rest of the kids sneaking by the raptors sleeping on the ground.
They paused looking up at the two kids as Darius had tied the rope around the BRAD-X, he pulled against the rope before Camille gave a thumbs up down to them and Darius came walking back over,
"Ready-" He said down to them as Kenji was the first to start climbing the rope, Camille pulling him up and over while Ben was helped over by Darius.
Next came Sammy as Darius took Sammy's hand lifting her up and over the railing as Camille helped the girl gain her footing before Yasmina was already being grabbed by Darius and helping herself over the railing when sudden screaming was heard down below from Brooklynn who began to slip down the rope waking the raptors on the floor.
Everybody froze in fear as Camille's instincts acted quickly she ran to the rail and dug her foot into the edge of it and began to pull the rope as best she felt the burn on her injury coming through painfully.
Darius commanded the BRAD-X to move back which pulled on the rope as well before the kids all began to tug the rope eventually getting Brooklynn high enough that Darius could grab her and bring her safely over the rail.
"BRAD, stop!" Darius commanded and the robot complied, stopping in its tracks,
"Good thing you were able to get me voice command for BRAD here." Darius chuckled from on the ground after everybody had fallen down,
"Yeah. Real good thing.." Brooklynn quietly said, holding the tablet close to her chest as Camille was quick to jump down to the floor and hug her best friend tight,
"I'm glad you're okay..." Camille said to the girl with her face buried over the girl's shoulder due to her height before Brooklynn's arms were swung around Camille, hugging the girl back.
"It's been hard without you helping me Cam..." Brooklynn softly said as Camille leaned back to look at the girl when Brooklynn caught her eyes on Kenji who had his hand extended to the girls on the floor, his eyes dreamily gazing over Brooklynn,
"Had to keep it interesting, huh, superstar?" He said warmly as Brooklynn turned her face away nearly knocking into Camille's jaw before Darius took Kenji's hand instead, pulling himself to his feet as Kenji let out a confused 'huh'.
"Okay, come on, guys. Who knows when Kash is gonna wake up." Darius began to walk off as Camille looked at Brooklynn, Kenji moved his hand back to the pink-haired girl but she shyly looked away and took Camille by the hand instead, dragging her away towards the stairs using Camille as a meat shield.
The French girl looked back at the dazed boy with an unsure shrug. She had zero idea of what had happened with the others while she and Darius were with Kash.
The three caught up with the others heading down the stairs before Camille slid forwards to Darius as the two led the way through and to the elevator, walking up to it Darius pressed the down button opening it for them to enter.
"This will take you down to the Med Bay. There's a nursery next to it. He's testing the control chips on the baby dinos first thing in the morning." Darius told them as he and Camille stood by the doors,
"What about cameras?" Brooklynn questioned with the tablet to her chest,
"You have nothing to worry about, Kash is far too invested in his work to care for the camera" Camille shook her head with a gentle smile,
"Message me on the BRAD-X as soon as you get the babies out. Good luck." Darius wished toward them before the doors slid closed, the two kids eyeing the elevator before giving brief sighs that turned into gasps as Kash gave them a heart attack.
"What are you doing out here?" He said firmly with a tablet in hand making his face ominously glow,
Camille placed a hand to her heart exhaling slowly at the sudden scare which earnt her a lingering glare from Kash, "Dieu, m'a donné une crise cardiaque..." (God, gave me a heart attack...)
"Oh, K-Kash, hey," Darius stuttered while chuckling nervously,
"Uh, you know how hard it is to sleep when you got a metal babysitter's big ole eye slits staring at you all night?" Darius pointed up to the BRAD-X as Kash sighed rolling his eyes,
"Not my problem." Kash paused raising his tablet before lowering it, "Actually, no, it is. Because we're having this conversation..." Kash narrowed his eyes down at Darius before glaring at Camille with a snicker,
"Yeah, I, uh... we went up to the roof to get some air," Darius said with his hands out to his side
"I felt sick-" Camille began but Kash put his palm up making her go quiet,
"Let the machine do the answering. Where did the kids go?" Kash fixed his gaze on the BRAD-X that answered him truthfully,
"The roof," Camille and Darius looked from the BRAD-X to Kash who still had an unpleased look, "Uh-huh. And we're they doing anything he shouldn't have been?"
"Negative." The BRAD-X stated once more earning an eye roll from Kash,
"Escort them back to their room. Then bring my cold brew down to the nursery." Kash tapped away at the tablet while moving up to the elevator, "Since the kids woke me up, might as well get some work done."
"Dude, come on, please don't make us go back to our room," Darius whined as Camille did too, Kash repeatedly pressing the button on the elevator, "There's nothing for us to do!"
"I'm so bored. Can I play a video game or something?" Darius asked with brows raised which caught Kash's attention, "You're a gamer?" Kash asked with a brow upturned,
"Oh boy.." Camille rolled her eyes at the sound of video games. She may not be a girly girl but a 12 year old boy discussing video games was not her forte.
"That's how I won my trip to Jurassic World. I'm kinda... awesome." Darius proudly said with a finger raised in the air,
"Doubtful." Kash deadpanned as the elevator doors opened, Camille gave a hurried look to Darius who shrugged before inhaling,
"That's cool. Most of my friends were scared to play me too..." Darius grinned with a hand on his chest before Kash's face grimaced, the elevator doors closing before he stuck his hand in the way to prevent them from shutting,
"Who said I was scared?" He threatened with eyes narrowed at the boy.
Now Camille was sitting on Kash's desk with her elbow propped up against her knee while her chin rested in the palm of her hand. Kash and Darius sat in two large chairs both holding a controller each with a big screen displaying a video game.
"Okay, kid. Hope you're ready for this." Kash said scrolling through the game menu as Darius sat excitedly in his chair, "Oh, I'm ready"
Kash selected a new game before moving down to the "Two player jungle race",
"The Jurassic World Video Game. Gotta say, there's something funny about playing a game where we run from dinosaurs when, you know, we're on an island filled with dinosaurs."
Darius said with a nervous tone yet he still held a smile as Camille's eyes moved between the two went they spoke,
"Eh, I prefer this way. I can eat nachos while I own these punk lizards." Kash spoke seeming uninterested in what Darius was saying,
"No, totally, totally. I love punking dinosaurs." Darius tapped Kash's arm, "it's probably why I'm so unbeatable at this game."
Camille let out a bored yawn from behind them, Kash's eyes moved onto the screen with his brows narrowed downward, "Yeah. We'll see about that."
Darius grinning widely, "Ready to race?" The countdown on the screen began,
Three,
Two,
One, the sound of a t-rex roaring came through the video game which made Camille jump, her eyes fluttering open after she had nearly fallen asleep.
Camille gave a soft sigh, glancing down at her nails for a brief moment before her gaze sleepily fell onto the screen, the dimly lit room was making her feel like she could sprawl out on the desk and fall asleep right then and there,
"The raptors, I think they're coming." Darius worriedly said about the game, hiding his character behind a tree while Kash kept moving,
"Pssh! Coward." Clearly, he made the wrong mistake as his character got mauled by the raptors,
"What? No!" Kash exhaled loudly, his grip tightening on the controller, "Yes!" Darius chirped as Camille grinned,
"Go, Darius," She smiled, raising her fist into the air before dropping it,
"Stupid game!" Kash yelled at the screen as Darius reached the finishing point of the game, his screen popping up with golden lettering saying 'YOU WIN', while Kash's screen stated in red 'YOU LOSE'.
"Whoo!" Darius cheered as Camille clapped her hands together, "Nice one!" She grinned as Kash tossed the controller down onto the ground, spinning out of his seat,
"Hey! It's okay, dude. You haven't had as much experience running from dinosaurs as I have." Darius said leaning towards the table where Camille was sitting as both of them looked at the fuming man,
"I'm over this. Take them to their room." Kash practically had steam emitting from his ears as the BRAD-X beeped, taking his order, "I'm heading downstairs."
"Wait! How about a rematch?" Darius swiftly called out to Kash with a pleading voice, "Come on, I'll take it easier on you this time."
Kash turned back around on his heel, anger bubbling in his eyes, "Are you..." Kash gave an annoyed scoff,
"I wasn't even trying. I just have work to do..." Kash stomped his foot to turn back around before Darius went back to pushing his buttons,
"Okay. Whatevs." Darius turned his chair back around with a grin, "Just sounds like someone hates to lose." Camille quietly laughed,
"Losing to a kid...could you imagine that D?" Camille asked as Darius turned his chair to face the girl,
"I couldn't imagine such a thing, C!" Darius tilted his head with his jaw dropped before Kash let out a loud grunt before storming towards the table, Kash swung his arm into the air and snatched the table from the table before walking and sitting down into the chair again,
"Let me just do this one quick thing then it's game time for real." Kash began to tap away at the tablet as Darius and Camille looked at one another before back to Kash before he took the controller again.
The two created another match as Camille rubbed her temples, she laid back on the desk with her knees bent instead of crossed staring at the roof with bored eyes feeling them open and close gradually staying closed for a brief moment until she sat up at the sound of Kash laughing loudly,
"Best three out of five?" He said as Camille sat up, resting on the plan of her hands being careful of her arm still before she saw the annoyed look on that Darius had on his face while Kash smiled deviously.
After a few more matches it was clear that Kash was using cheat codes to win each game as Darius was getting fed up, Camille was now sitting with her legs dangling over the desk while she zoned out watching a t-rex dancing on the screen before she looked to Darius,
"A dance break? Are you kidding me?" Darius groaned, leaning back into his chair, "How is there even a cheat code for that?"
"Don't make excuses for your failures, kid. Just, like, be better." Kash said with a slick grin until his tablet beeping beside Camille caught all their attention,
"Huh?" Kash leaned back taking the tablet as he checked for the issue,
"Power outage in the Med Bay..." Kash dropped the controller onto the table before standing and walking towards the doors, Darius and Camille tensed up and turned to look at Kash who was far down the hallway, they both stood and sprinted after him,
"Wait. I gotta know how you hacked the game like that." Darius puffed out, slowing down next to Kash with Camille on the other side of him, they both looked up at Kash,
"I mean surely you teach us, well, Darius more hacks like that, right?" Camille added as Kash looked between the two kids, "Earned a new respect for me, eh?"
"Yeah, I thought I was good, but it was like, you taught the game how it was supposed to be played." Darius sounded mind-blown as Camille nodded,
"Show me how?" Darius asked with wide eyes,
"Nah. Maybe later. I gotta check things out down there." Kash pressing the button of the elevator leading down before he saw that Camille and Darius were still stood either side of him,
"What do you think you're doing?" He questioned the two kids that were swaying on their feet, "How are we supposed to "be better" if were not learning from the best?" Darius smiled with his hands out,
"Fine. But keep to yourself and don't be annoying." Kash commanded with a stern tone which made Darius and Camille fall quiet while they were still waiting on the elevator as Kash tapped his foot impatiently before pressing the button again,
"Stupid thing always takes so long. Come on!" Kash yelled at the elevator, slamming his foot down as Camille looked at Darius,
"I hate waiting too. Let's go play some more." Darius suggested as Kash was repeatedly pushing the button with rage,
"I mean, I'm guessing power outages happen all the time. So, it's probably, uh..." Darius jinxed it as the elevators doors swung open,
"Would you look at that," Camille hissed through her teeth as they followed Kash into the elevator before he leaned and pressed the lowest level.
The trip down was quiet until they finally reached the bottom, the doors moved open and the area was entirely lit by red lights and a bright light at the far back coming from one of the airlocks that were open.
"Huh?" Kash sputtered out as he glanced at the area while stepping out the elevator with Camille and Darius following before Darius got shoved into Camille,
"Out of my way!" Kash said in a upsetting tone as they shared a grim look before thumping was heard, coming from where the most light was.
A low growl echoed into the large area as both Camille and Darius froze,
"Uh, Kash?" Darius stuttered in a low voice as they watched a large dinosaur parade through the airlock now,
"Not now, kid." He dismissed them as Darius and Camille backed up closer to him, Darius moving to Kash while Camille kept moving back to the elevator with her heart beat quickening,
"Kash!" Darius said sounding more alarmed as the dinosaurs gaze fell in their direction, Darius grabbed Kash by the shoulders and turned him to face their issue.
"What, kid?-" Kash annoyingly spat out before his eyes fell onto the large dinosaur making its way through, causing him to gasp loudly which triggered the dinosaur as it let out a deafening roar.
Camille leaped back and slammed her hand against the elevator button as the doors slid open, she kept her foot in the door way before watching Kash push Darius out of the way to make it to the elevator.
"Come on!" Camille called to Darius before she got pushed into the elevator by Kash, hitting the back while while Kash began spamming the button for the doors to close,
"Darius!" She called out as the dinosaur was sprinting for Darius, but so was he as Darius was able to slip his hands into the elevator doors in time to stumble into the elevator yet the dinosaur was still plummeting for them,
"Close it! Close it!" Kash yelled at Darius who turned and began to press the button as fast as he could,
"Hurry! Hurry!" Kash raised his voice louder in the small space as the dinosaur was metres away when the doors began to close, they slammed shut just in time as the elevator rattled after being crashed into.
Darius and Camille were pulled shoulder to shoulder as Kash had pulled them in front of himself as meat shields, he slowly peeked over their shoulders in the middle as both of them had displeased looks on their faces after Kash nearly killed Darius.
"Sending a BRAD-X down to dispose of it and fix the lights..." Kash stood fully as Darius and Camille moved away from one another and Kash, the elevator went back up before they just went straight back down to the medbay.
The doors moved open and they covered their mouths quickly at the sight of gas in the area waiting until it cleared before they could breathe again, the BRAD-X had dealt with sedating the dinosaur and the lights had been solved.
"How did this happen?" Kash stepped out of the elevator with Darius and Camille trailing behind him until Kash gasped, his eyes fell onto the same airlock that the large dinosaur came from before he began to run towards it.
Camille and Darius were quick to follow as Kash ran into every room with small glass enclosures that must've been holding the baby dinosaurs that were no longer in their cases.
"They're gone," Kash said with a stunned look on his face that soon turned to anger, turning towards Darius and Camille with his teeth grit,
"Did either of you do this?" He accused as they both looked taken back by this, "We were with you the whole time," Darius worriedly said as Camille shifted a foot forward,
"We were stood by your side at all times.." She added as Kash scrunched up his nose, furious as he walked off while elbowing Darius out of the way.
They both looked at one another with slight fear in their eyes before Camille whispered,
"How did they release the babies and that giant creature?!"
