"We find an ominous hallway that looks like it's from a sci-fi movie and decide to travel down it, alright then..."
Camille said nervously under beneath breath. The group stayed in a huddle, close to one another as they slowly walked through and into the hallway, the door behind them hissed shut with the only sounds being heard were their shoes squeaking against the floor and what sounded like a swishing noise of air coming through ventilation which was when Brooklynn took notice of another door, running towards it.
"Guys, come on," Kenji said in a hushed tone to the others as they all caught up to Brooklynn. Next to the large door was a pad built into the wall with a locked symbol on it. Brooklynn swiped her finger to the left across the screen as the light went from blue to green and the door hissed open revealing the complete opposite of the biome they were in before.
It was a lush green forest with trees ranging from different heights and instead of sand covering the ground it had solid dirt with small shrubs and ferns sprouting from the ground.
They all cautiously piled into the new environment with shock displayed on their faces as they gazed at the area.
"Guys, do you remember how, like, five seconds ago, we were in a desert?" Brooklynn said in a confused tone, Sammy adding on, "What the heck is this place?-"
Suddenly heavy thumps were heard as the ground beneath them shook with each thump.
Quick inhales and sharp gasps were sent around as they all moved their arms out for balance as the ground swayed, "No, it can't be.." Yasmina muttered nervously,
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say that feels like a..." Sammy began, her words spaced out as they all watched a large foot step out from behind a tree, followed by a large grey snout with teeth piling over the edge of its bottom jaw.
"T-Rex..." Sammy finally got to finish the sentence before the T-Rex roared out, saliva flying through the air as its head shook towards the children.
They all broke out into a sprint but Yasmina stayed put, Sammy quickly slid back and grabbed Yasmina by the shoulder before Camille grabbed Sammy by the arm and pulled the girls along faster.
"We gotta go, we gotta go-" Camille said in a rushed tone, pushing Sammy and Yasmina forwards before they all took a turn to their left or right to take refuge behind a rock or a tree.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Kenji cried out while hiding behind a rock next to Sammy, Ben and Camille while the other three hid behind the tree, the t-rex sprinting past them all as they were quick to meet up behind the tree and hide watching as a second t-rex emerged from the trees causing everybody to duck and hide again as pure shock filled the air.
Brooklynn sat on the floor with her ears covered from the roaring, "Does every island have dinosaurs now?" She whispered as Ben pointed across, "Let's ask her-"
He pointed to a lady that was sitting behind a log while holding a tablet in her hands and a sandwich in her mouth, seemingly observing the dinosaurs as they did whatever they were doing.
"Who's that?" Kenji said rather loudly as the lady looked up to see a group of teenagers standing in a huddle with confusion displayed on their faces, her jaw dropped as the sandwich fell out her mouth before she stood and dashed towards the group.
"You're trespassing. What are you up to?" She said before gasping and hiding the tablet against her chest, "Are you here to spy?"
"Yeah. We're an elite band of teenage secret agents" Kenji said sarcastically before Brooklynn moved in front, "Are you crazy? You're eating a sandwich in the middle of a T. rex fight?"
The lady looked at Brooklynn, "First of all, they're not fighting. They're pla--"
"Playing!" Darius cut in as he looked back from the t-rex's, "Cranio-facial biting! It's true!" His said with excitement in his voice,
"Uh, yes. Don't change the subject!" The lady said to Darius as Yasmina stepped forwards now,
"Lady, we don't wanna be here, either. We just wanna go home..." Yasmina finished of gloomily as the lady looked at the kids, "Oh, yeah, we'll see about that. Follow me."
She ushered the kids along as they trailed behind her and navigated through the forest, eventually she asked where they had come from which led into the whole entire story of how they survived on the island.
"You really expect me to believe that children survived alone on Isla Nublar for six entire months?" The lady said with a questionable tone,
"Trust me. It's hard for us to believe, too.." Brooklynn said with her brows furrowed,
"Mm-hm..." The lady said while tapping the tablet on her chin, Brookylnn and Darius walked either side of the lady while the others trailed behind having a conversation of their own.
"What do you guys think this place could be?" Ben questioned quietly, eyeing the surrounding area, Camille shrugging her shoulders before pocketing her hands, "I mean we were just in a desert and now were in a forest?"
Kenji slid between the two, "Maybe were on some mysterious undiscovered island-" He began to make ghost like sounds as Sammy tilted her head,
"Kenji, if its undiscovered then how would their be this lady here?" Kenji opened his mouth to say something before closing it,
"I mean surely this lady isn't the only person on this creepy island, right?-" Yasmina said as she tilted her head, raising a brow,
"Well, I find it odd that she would be the only one on this island, recording information for what exactly?" Camille said suspiciously,
"Maybe shes workin for a company like mantah corp but not mantah corp?" Sammy suggested after what Camille said,
"Theres a possibility-" Camille went to say but the roars of the t-rex made everybody spin around in the direction it came from.
"Don't worry. They're almost tuckered out. They won't bother us.." The lady assured the frightened kids,
"How could you know that?" Ben was quick to ask,
"I study dinosaur brains," The lady said with a smile and a chuckle, "Behavioral paleoneurobiologist. I'm Mae Turner-" She began but Darius cut in, grabbing Mae's hand and shaking it,
"Turner! That's it! You're Dr. Mae Turner!" Darius said with excitment in his voice again, "It's an honor to meet you. I read your book. A Theoretical Emotional Journey with Theropods"
"Ah, you were the one!" She said with a soft chuckle before Kenji walked over, "If you could just point us to a phone, we'll be on our way" He said lowering his arms to his side,
"Yeah. Slight problem with that. This island is completely shut off the grid. No communications in or out" Dr Turner said, all the kids letting out some sort of complaint,
"Are you kidding?"
"What?!"
"Wait, you can't use that to call out?" Brooklynn pointed to the tablet Dr Turner held,
"Sorry. Closed circuit. Mainly I use this to connect to a doodad in their brains..." She slowed her speaking for a moment, "Oh! Can't tell you, actually. Proprietary research."
"So, there's no way home..." Yasmina said sadly as Camille moved to the girls side, Dr Turner looking to the saddened girl,
"Don't lose faith. You can all rest up with me until we figure out how to get you out of here!" Dr Turner turned around to continue leading the kids,
"Do we trust her?" Kenji asked Brooklynn as the girl raised one eyebrow, Kenji chuckling nervously while he replied, "I'll take that as a no".
Brooklynn gently laughed at his joke as Yasmina and Camille look at one another before moving along behind Kenji and Brooklynn with big smirks on their faces at the two ahead of them.
"So, the saber-toothed tiger and the T. rexes, your bosses are making prehistoric creatures?" Darius asked Dr Turner up ahead,
"Some. Although they got the T. rexes from Isla Sorna. Not that I should be telling you any of this" Dr Turner said with a nervous chuckle,
"Why?" Sammy was about to ask but Dr Mae stuck her arms out, stopping all the kids,
"Hold up. Important announcement time." She had stopped them in front of a mini hill leading down into a more darker and chilling looking area where the light faded,
"Whatever you do, do not go down there. Super dangerous..." Dr Turner warned all the kids in a deep tone, getting the point across clearly before snapping back into her happy tone,
"All right, off we pop!" She began to lead the way again, the kids following closely behind as she led them underneath a running waterfall,
"We're here." She said with a slight grin, walking further underneath the waterfall as she walked past the water, the rest of the kids followed before she unlocked a door that slid open.
It revealed a homey cave that had a couch and a long table, a desk with different equipment on it and different sections of the cave splitting off.
The kids had their jaws to the floor as they moved inside the cave,
"Wow. As far as caves go, this one's pretty swank.." Sammy said as she settled on the couch, "You live here?" Darius said with awe,
"Live, work, play surprisingly competitive games of poker with myself." Dr Turner said amusingly to herself before gently elbowing Ben,
"I usually win!" she began to laugh at her own joke, losing air as it became a breathy laugh before she let out an amused sigh,
"Alright, I'm gonna go whip up some sandwiches!" She said cheerily while humming as she ducked around the corner.
The group all spread out into the area as Brooklynn went to follow behind Dr Turner, grabbing Camille's hand, who was basically known as being the girls partner in crime by now.
"I don't trust her..." Brooklynn whispered into the taller girls ear as Camille gave a shrug before Brooklynn pulled her away and towards a shelf where Kenji began searching as well.
They looked over what was placed on the shelves though it was mainly books and mugs,
"What are you doing?" Darius said through his teeth, alarmed at the three going through the stuff,
"We're not gonna just take her word for it, there's no phone here.." Brooklynn said while looking to the boy with brows raised,
"Yeah, dude. Did you learn nothing from Mitch and Tiff?" Kenji added on as Darius turned to look at Camille who held a look of terror. Lord knows if this Dr Turner knew karate and could end the kids or not, clearly she spends a lot of time by herself meaning she could be capable of anything or nothing at all.
Darius pondered for a moment, "I guess it doesn't hurt to look around.." he slowly admitted as the kids moved further into the area, they began to check on tables and through photos while looking through cabinets and drawers as they tried to be as silent as possible,
"Are you guys all right out there?" Dr Turner called out making all the kids jump at the sound of her voice,
"Yeah. Uh, no problems over here!" Kenji said while holding a lamp, Camille whacking him lightly in the back of the head as he inhaled before turning,
"Why are you holding a lamp?" She asked before he could say anything,
"I was examining it thank you.." Kenji said putting a finger in the air and waving it sassily before Yasmina, Brooklynn, and Ben began to move back to Darius and Sammy who were by the desk, Kenji and Camille following,.
"We got nothing," Brooklynn said in a low tone,
"Us too" Kenji said as he pointed to Camille beside him who was resting her forearm against his shoulder,
Sammy suddenly gasped rather loudly as she stared at papers she held before slowly turning them,
"Mantah Corp.." she said chillingly as the kids all gasp,
"If Mae works for Mantah Corp, then we gotta get out of here-" Brooklynn began but the gasps all returned at Dr Turner who came back with a plate of sandwiches, catching them off guard.
"Who wants a sandwich?" She asked with a smile, holding the plate as she looked at each of the kids,
"Cmon guys..let's eat!" Darius said with a nervous chuckle before smiling at Dr Turner,
"Come take a seat at the table and I'll grab plates!!" Dr Turner said excitedly before speeding back to the kitchen,
The kids slowly moved to the table, taking their seats as Darius took the end chair with Ben sitting on the armrest beside him, on the couch sat Kenji, Brooklynn and Sammy while Camille and Yasmina sat on the floor.
At first Camille was going to sit against the arm rest of the couch but noticed Yasmina going to sit on the floor and decided to sit with her instead.
Camille felt comfortable whenever she sat with Yasmina, clearly she had her moments when she'd get flustered from every now and then but she feels as though she's not madly, insanely in love with the girl.
Just, in love.
Darius spoke quietly through his teeth eyeing the others around him before Mae entered, "play it cool-"
"Alright a plate and a sandwich for you all" Dr Turner said while pushing a plate toward each kid.
Darius was the first to pick his up and physically take a bite out of it, Ben was examining his sandwich looking for anything suspicious while the others hadn't touched theirs.
"Mmm. This is really good!" Darius said with food in his cheeks, chewing with a smile,
Dr Turner looked at the other kids who seemed nervous, "Something wrong?"
She asked as Yasmina was quick to speak up, "Yes. We wanna ask you about-"
"Something to drink?" Brooklynn cut in and asked as Yasmina looked to Brooklynn before back to Dr Turner,
She gasped, "Of course! Silly me" she chuckled at herself, "You need cocoa!" Dr Turner hummed as she moved back into the kitchen,
"We need to go." Brooklynn said hurriedly as Mae turned the corner,
"Maybe not-" Sammy slowly said in a curious tone,
"But Mae works for the company that blackmailed your family" Brooklynn acused quickly,
"Yeah. And I did, too. Sometimes, good people can be made to do bad things by bad people...." Sammy reasoned as Brooklynn rethought what she was saying,
"Let's at least check out that dangerous area, What if there's a phone or a way off the island, and she's just trying to keep us away from it?" Brooklynn said toward Sammy,
Darius speaking up, "Why would she do that?"
"So we can't tell anyone about whatever shady stuff Mantah Corp is doing here.." Ben replied to Darius,
"You never know what someone might do to keep kids who might be 'secret spies' quiet about her secret research?" Camille raised a point as she made quotation marks with her fingers,
"Camille personally, you don't have a say, you got kidnapped by two adults who beat you up to find us, respectfully.." Brooklynn said with a rushed smile as Camille nodded a couple of times,
"Fair enough-" Camille said, resting her forearms on the table as she kept quiet with a soft sigh,
"Okay. I'll keep her busy while you check it out." Darius said with a sigh in his voice,
"I'll stay, too. Maybe we'll get some answers while we're at it.." Sammy said with determination while glancing at the others,
"So, it's settled. Kenji and Brooklynn will go check it out.." Yasmina said with her eyebrows raised lightly, looking between the two,
"You and Ben should come too. We don't know what's out there.." Brookylnn said to Yasmina and Ben before standing and walking around the table, she grabbed Camille's hood and pulled the girl up to her feet,
"Wha?" Camille blurted as she regained her balance before walking with the rest, "it's obvious that your coming along, standard you know?" Brooklynn said as Camille smiled,
"Cool, cool, cool-" Camille chuckled, feeling very valued at that moment as the group began to track through where they came from while taking cautious steps on not to run into any more dinosaurs.
They moved down the hill past broken logs and wrecked leaves with bones scattered around until they saw another metal platform like the one in the desert. Ben kneeled down and knocked against it, checking what it was,
"Another metal rectangle, like the one we saw in the desert.." Ben said looking back to the others,
"Bones. It's a feeding platform." Brooklynn spoke swiftly as she looked at the area, a few disturbed and worried looks upon their faces as they began to back away,
"Which means we should probably get outta here before mealtime." Kenji said hurriedly before they began to move away and climb out before Yasmina stopped Ben and Camille,
"Ben. I am curious. Uh, who ate grubs first.." Yasmina asked with her hands on her hips, "You or Bumpy?"
Ben raised his brows, Camille looked confused yet a disturbed expression washed over her face at the thought of the grubs, "On purpose? Me." Ben answered plainly,
"What?" Yasmina began to chuckle before placing a hand on the boys shoulder, "That sounds like a story!"
Camille felt her blood rise, just when she thought that Yasminas actions wouldn't get her heart pumping, it happened. Why was she questioning Ben all of a sudden and being touchy towards him.
"Let's walk and talk yeah?" Yasmina said while looking at the two,
"Let's.." Camille answered swiftly as the trio began walking but Yasmina made the two of them walk at quite the slow pace which seemed odd for a girl who does a sport that requires speed to be moving so slowly.
"So Ben, why don't you tell me another story of you and bumpy?" Yasmina asked as she folded her arms before looking ahead of her, That's when Ben began to ramble on and on, Camille felt like she was going to go mad but she listened anyways.
"So, I said, "That's what you get for walking with your mouth open, Bumpster." Ben said waving his hand through the air, "But when there were no digestive issues, I figured, "Eh, anything can be food once." He paused and looked at Yasmina who had a wide smile on her face, Camille clenched her fists tightly before letting go after feeling the pain from the grazes on her hands shooting through.
"Wow. No one has ever smiled at the end of that story.." Ben said with his head slightly tilted,
"Well, it's the way you tell it." Yasmina said while tucking hair behind her ear with a smile.
Camille was about to burst like a bag of popcorn as she held her own breath, nearly about to scream but she didn't. Luckily because the sounds of twigs snapping and leaves rustling echoed around them. They all froze and began to scan the area, "did you hear that?" Yasmina said quickly as they all hid behind the nearest rock, looking at the area with worried eyes.
That was until a Compy jumped from a bush, the very compy that followed them from Isla Nublar, then onto their boat and now to this odd island.
They all stood up with relief on their faces, "Is that...Did he seriously follow us all the way from the boat?" Brooklynn questioned with a smile, until a green light began to emit from the bushes, growing brighter as the sound of metal clanking became clearer,
They all lowered again behind the rock as the green light began to pass over the top of the rock, they waited until it passed before peeking over again to see that a metal robot pushed past the bush, stopping in front of the Compy as it let out a small yowl at the robot.
It was on all fours and had bright lights for eyes with metal plates covering most of its body to protect the inner system of it.
"The metal claw from the desert. It was from one of these things!" Brooklynn referred to the legs of the robots as they all huddled together, the green light had come back and emitted from the robots eyes as it began to scan the compy again, that was until the light turned red and a low, monotone voice came from the robot while the Compy let out small chirps towards it,
"Unauthorized life form detected," the robot said as its jaw dropped down, inside was a nozzle that began to light up before the sound of electricity began to crackle and pop, the light got brighter and far larger until a ball of energy and electricity shot forwards at the Compy.
That was when they all ducked down and squeezed their eyes shut tightly, Camille turning her head away as so did Yasmina as the two nearly crash their heads together,
The chirps of the compy were no longer heard and were replaced with a sizzle as the green light came back on before slowly fading away, they all went to stand again but the green light came back and the sound of the robots heavy metal footsteps came clunking towards them, stopping right beside the rock.
They all held their breath as they could clearly see the robot's head beside them.
"Oi! A familiar voice called out as the lights on the robot turned red, it spun back around and the kids could all breathe again.
The robot began to scan Dr Turner before the lights turned a light blue, giving the all-clear before turning to their pale white.
"Dr Mae Turner, authorized life form. What can I do to assist you?" The robot said toward Dr Turner,
"Never do that again for starters. You killed a Compsognathus I could have studied!" She pointed down toward the small, incinerated Compy.
May it rest in piece.
"We don't have any here on the island. Why would you do that?" She scrunched up her hands toward the robot as it looked at her with zero emotion for the situation, I mean it was a robot.
It began to ramble as the kids slowly crawled from hiding behind the rock, "Primary directive is to protect biome iconostasis. Unrecognized lifeforms pose a threat to iconostasis. Finishing patrol." The robot finished and began to turn around but the kids were still seen,
"Wait!" The robot turned back to look at Dr Turner, this gave the kids time to sprint into the distance and out of sight.
"Uh. No, never mind." she dismissed the robot as it began to move away, scanning the area before Dr turner followed the kids who were making sure that they were all okay,
"Thank goodness you're all okay..." Dr Turner said with a sigh of relief as the kids all turned to her,
"What was that thing?" Ben said seeming quite alarmed that he could've been exploded by that robot,
"One of the BRADs. Bio Robotic Assistance Droids. They care for the island, but I had no idea they did that!" Dr Turner shook her head, sounding shocked herself,
"You mean killing?" Brooklynn said with furrowed brows and concern coating her voice,
"We just watched that thing murder a living creature, we're living creatures." Camille said in a low tone, shifting her foot position as she leaned forwards defensively as Kenji held her shoulder,
"Back to the cave. The BRADs aren't authorized to go in there, you'll be safe inside." Dr Turner said softly with a short smile, "And then, you can explain why you lied to me, and why you were out here in the first place!" Mae switched her tone.
The kids began to shamefully walk back to the cave before they sat down in the living room, they began to explain everything from Sammy's family and Mantah Corp to even Mitch and Tiff.
"After everything Mantah Corp said they'd do to my family, can you blame us for not trusting you?" Sammy said as she sat on the couch,
"No, I suppose not. But the work I'm doing is good. How could understanding dinosaurs be bad?" Dr Turner said with a hand on her hip,
"Yeah, well, until five minutes ago, you thought those BRADs were just friendly assistants." Brooklynn accused while sitting on the couches armrest, her elbow resting against her knee,
"Okay, the BRADs were programmed to protect the biomes, I don't think anyone anticipated six kids and a Compy showing up unannounced." Dr Turner said as she threw her hands up before dropping them, her tablet beeping twice as their eyes all fall onto it,
"Drat. It's almost dinner time." Dr Turner said as she took the tablet and stood,
"What, you getting takeout?" Kenji asked sassily as he eyed Camille beside him trying to act cool, the two leaning against the wall. Camille rolled her eyes at his efforts.
"Dinner time for the T. rexes. I get the rare opportunity to observe mother-daughter eating habits." Dr Turner stated, "It's actually surprisingly sweet." She said happily with the tablet to her chest before switching,
"Until I can figure out how to ensure your safety, you all remain here" She pointed at all of them,
"Stay away from killer robots and dinosaurs? Yeah, no problem." Yasmina said as she propped her feet up on the table, resting on the couch while muttering was heard from Sammy and Darius as Mae began to walk out of the cave,
"Well, now what?" Camille asked as she dropped her hands down into the pockets of her hoodie, that was until Darius and Sammy sprinted out the door without saying anything.
They all stood for a moment in silence staring at the door before it hissed shut,
"right.." Kenji said slowly before walking off and sitting on the couch, Yasmina had wandered off to look at the things on the shelves, and Camille stayed put against the wall she was leaning on while Brooklynn was on the couch sitting opposite Kenji.
"Magazines hm?" Brooklynn said as she picked one up, beginning to flip through it as her eyes scanned the paper, Kenji was anxiously looking at Brooklynn before he eyed Camille.
The French girl moved her eyes onto Brooklynn as Kenji began to shuffle over taking a seat near her, that was until Ben came and sat smack bang in the middle of the two.
Camille bitting onto her lip and turning to face the wall to stop laughing as Kenji sighed angrily.
"Hey, Ben, how about a game?" Yasmina asked Ben as Camille was quick to turn over, staring at the girl who was eyeing Ben with cards in her hands,
"Not much of a card person." Ben said with a shrug,
"Cool. Yeah, cool. Uh..." Yasmina said awkwardly as Camille chewed the inner side of her lip, she hadn't felt this much jealousy in forever,
Yasmina walked behind the couch, "Then, uh, wanna help me make some snacks in the kitchen?" Yasmina raised her brows as she leaned forwards and pull two lamps closer,
"Uh... I do," Kenji stood as his shoe smacked the ground when doing so, Camille began to walk to the couch as she passed Kenji before passing Yasmina as the two girls bumped shoulders,
"Sorry-" Yasmina said before moving into the kitchen,
"It's fine.." Camille muttered, Brooklynn moved over a smidge and so did Ben as Camille sat on the couch,
"So what's this magazine about?" Camille asked as she lifted Brooklynn's arm, moving under it as she rested her head by the girl's shoulder staring at the pages.
"Well from what I can read past the big words covering every inch of the pages, dinosaurs" Brooklynn nodded as Camille chuckled quietly,
"How fascinating," She said in a fancy tone as Brooklynn scoffed with a smile, "I'm mainly looking at the pictures, to be honest with you.." Brooklynn admitted as she pointed at a photo of a dinosaur grazing in the grass field, Ben and Camille both looking.
"Hey, that kinda looks like the field that we saw during the gyrospheres trip right?" Ben asked rather excitedly as he pointed to the photo, the two girls taking a closer look,
"Hey it almost does yeah," Brooklynn said with a gentle smile, Camille scanning through the page for any sign of where the photo could've been taken.
"Imagine if it was taken on that exact field too, how cool would that be!" Camille smiled as the two beside her nodded in agreement before they saw Kenji and Yasmina walk back from the kitchen until all of them shot their gaze towards the door leading into the cave as it hissed open yet nothing was there.
They all went silent, sharing looks until the sound of metal became clearer, it was one of the BRADS. Sudden gaps were sent around as Camille was quick to stand,
"It's a Brad!" She said swiftly in a panicked tone,
"She said they weren't allowed in here!" Ben said with brows furrowed tightly,
"hide!" Kenji called as he and Brooklynn bolted to the kitchen while Yasmina, Ben and Camille ducked under Dr Turner's desk.
The BRAD finally walked inside and began to scan the room as the area lit up green, it kept on moving around to check every inch of the cave.
It began to walk closer to the desk as it moved its front legs up onto the desk, the three underneath staying as quiet as possible. Camille sat in the middle as the two went to gasp but Camille was swift and placed her hands over both their mouths, moving their backs against the wall as the BRAD stood in front of them. It began to scan the desk above as the green light could be seen faintly by the three below them.
Kenji and Brooklynn watched in fear as the BRAD began to finish its scanning, Camille lowered her hands in front of the two now keeping them close by her, the BRAD dropped down onto all fours again turning away from the desk, it stood for a moment before suddenly turning towards the trio, the lights turning from green to a violent red colour as the voiced boomed out.
"Unauthorized life form detected" The robot declared as the trio huddled in closer to one another, Ben hiding behind Camille's shoulder while Yasmina wrapped her arms around the girl's waist, hiding her face in the girl's arm. Camille reeled her foot back as she kicked its jaw, making its head turn away,
"Go Kenji!" Camille called out as she noticed the boy coming closer with a frying pan, cueing Kenji as he swung the frying pan into the head of the BRAD and knocked it off the body, killing the BRAD as the head tumbled across the room while the body dropped in front of them the other two beside Camille looked up with wide eyes,
"You guys okay?" Kenji asked as he lowered the frying pan, the trio gave wide smiles of relief before crawling out from under the table with the help of Kenji and Brooklynn,
"Oh! Did you see that swing?" Brooklynn said to Kenji as he helped Camille up,
"Oh, it was perfect!" Brooklynn smiled up at the boy as Kenji felt a warm smile on his face, Camille rested her forearm on Kenji's shoulder with a grin.
Yasmina chuckled to herself before wrapping her arm tightly around Ben's shoulder, pulling him closer.
"Hey, guys. Could you give me and Yaz a second?" Ben asked nervously as the others look at them,
"Uh... sure," Brooklynn said slowly as she, Kenji and Camille began to move away, Camille went and took the frying pan from Kenji as they moved further into the living room while heading for the kitchen,
"I swear I'm going to smash my head with this thing," Camille said while having it rested against her forehead, letting out a short groan as they entered the kitchen.
"Five bucks you do it-" Kenji said as Brooklynn elbowed him in the side, Camille lowered the frying pan as she handed it to Kenji, "Take it away from me before I do smash my head.." Kenji shrugged, holding the frying pan and moving to the cabinets to put it away before Camille sighed.
"Why, what's wrong?" Brooklynn asked as Kenji folded his arms,
"That, that's what's wrong..." Camille ushered to Yasmina and Ben who were discussing, Brooklynn turned over as they stood by the kitchen wall,
"Yeah, no I do find it weird the way Yaz is acting around Ben all of a sudden..." Brooklynn muttered to Camille,
"She's giving me mixed signals and then goes and does this not to just Sammy but Ben too? He looks scared-" Camille blinked as she and Brooklynn stood by the kitchen wall, quietly listening in now on the conversation with Kenji coming to join.
"It's just that I'm just now starting to find myself, and I gotta work on me before I can think about someone else," Ben said towards Yasmina who looked a little more shocked and surprised than anything,
"Ben!" Yasmina said slightly alarmed before she noticed the trio, the look Camille had on her face made her totally ill,
"I totally understand. Thanks..." she said a little quieter as Ben gave her a pat on the shoulder, Brooklynn gave Yasmina a thumbs up as they all stood up straight and looked to the door, it moved open with Dr Turner moving inside, Sammy and Darius sprinted behind her to catch up.
Dr Turner paused with the BRADs head at her feet before looking up to see Yasmina standing by its body that was by her desk,
"What happened here?" Dr Turner spoke sternly after seeing the sudden chaos,
"Uh, it came in a few minutes after you left. It was scanning all over the place." Kenji spoke up, motioning around the area,
"There goes the one place we were supposed to be safe," Sammy said gloomily as Dr Turner sighed,
"Apologies, Sammy. Seems you were right to be suspicious of Mantah Corp." Dr Turner said with a hand on Sammy's shoulder before she moved off into the cave and toward her desk, moving the body of the BRAD out of the way before placing the whole cube she held on the desk,
"Time to find out what they're doing to my dinosaurs." She said determined, as the kids all looked at one another they all had different ideas on what the cube was other than Sammy and Darius but Kenji was plain enough to state his out loud.
"So are we making coffee for dinosaurs with that sugar cube..or?"
