On My Own
My mind says, “Stand up.”
My heart shouts, “Never give up!”
Somebody says, “It’s gonna be okay.”
Some say, “You can do it.”
I keep on finding answers,
I keep on asking questions,
I keep on acting like it’s normal,
I keep on smiling like it's okay.
I have eyes to see,
I have ears to hear,
I have a mind to think,
I have a heart to feel.
I judge others as if I know them,
I shout at others as if it’s their fault,
I speak like I know the story,
I act like I know what’s going on.
I tried to keep it close,
I tried to keep it on my own,
But I just can’t do—
I’m upset!
