"Are you done yet?" I ask
"You've been putting on your Halloween costume for at least an hour. "For the record, it's been only twenty minutes".
"Yeah only twenty".
I headed downstairs, we should have been outside starting our 30-minute route to the woods.
I sit at the dining table. "Hey Val" Jamie calls. They're playing cards on the sofa. "Nice costumes!" I say. They are better than last year's costumes. Cole was a piece of gum and Jamie was a can of jam. They were stupid costumes but hilarious all the same.
"Where's Max?" Jam asks. We call her Jam since it makes her mad and it has her name in it. "Here!" Suddenly Max comes into view, he looks like a booger.
"Um, what is that?" Cole asks, holding back a laugh.
"What, my costume?"
"Yeah what else?".
"Oh, I'm an alien"
"I thought we all decided to be something..you know kinda scary," I say.
"Yeah, I eat brains"
"Okay whatever," Jamie says. "Let's get to the point, does everyone have what I asked them to bring?"
"Binoculars, Speaker, Candy bag and Camera. Yeah, I got them all" I say. The quicker we can leave, the better.
