Chapter Seventeen
Perfect Harmony
3rd Person POV
ronnie followed behind nate as he hummed to himself softly and she twirled the pick around in her fingers before nate sat down on a bench and she leaned down next to him softly
"hi" she whispered and he lifted his glasses as he turned to her and noticed the pick in her fingers. he laughed and put the glasses in his shirt pocket as she walked around the bench and she sat down next to him
"do you like your gift?" he asked and she chuckled as she twirled it around in her hand and he watched
"yeah apple juice and a guitar pick, i must be in heaven" she exclaimed and he laughed as she did too
"so you liked the song?" he asked and she nodded
" i did , it was really good. you have a good voice" she complemented and he smiled
"thanks , you do too. i don't know if i ever told you that before, you've sang to me so much and your voice almost puts me to sleep..." he paused as she raised her eyebrows
"in a good way! definitely a good way!" he recovered and she smiled as she shook her head happily
"thanks i'm glad you think so" she said softly
"what did someone say something?" he questioned
"my mom thinks that i need to totally change my tune, she thinks i need a vocal coach to show me a different way to sing" she spoke and he scoffed
"you don't have to listen to her" he tried but she shook her head
"that's the issue, i do have to listen to her, she's my manager nate. she could ruin my career if she wanted to. my whole life depends on my parents decisions in my career, not mine" she spoke and he sighed
"but it doesn't have to. you need to tell them , they don't control you ronnie" he said and she sighed as she leaned her head against his shoulder
"i want to nate but what will happen if i do? will they kick me out? ruin my career? hate me forever? ruin us?" she ended and he looked down at her
"us?" he said and she took a deep breathe in
"i um" she said and he shook his head
"nothing can ruin us ronnie, you will always be the most beautiful and amazing girl i have ever met" he stated and she blushed
"you're really sweet nate" she said and he smiled softly as he kissed the top of her head and she nuzzled into him
"so that song..." she began and he chuckled
"it's not done yet ronnie and i don't know if i want to show you" he said and she lifted her head as she made eye contact and stared
"what, nate why?" she asked and he shrugged
"i don't open up easily ronnie; maybe i can't do it with you" he said and she scoffed
"and after everything that just happened, what i just told you, you can't trust me" she asked and she stood up as he stood up with her and went to grab her arms but she pulled them away
"ronnie i didn't mean it like that" he said and she nodded
"no no you're right, maybe don't open up to people, they might surprise hurt you" she said and he stared
"ronnie..." he tried and she shook her head as she stood up and walked away
"talk to me when you think that i'm trustworthy" she stated and she walked away as she left him there. she walked past his cabin to hear him talking to shane
"i'm an idiot" he said and she laughed as she shook her head and she continued to her cabin. she grabbed a blanket and a guitar as well as a pillow and she walked out onto the dock. she started to strum lightly for the next few hours before the sun went down and she fell asleep softly
-DREAM SEQUENCE-
in her dream, she woke up and she looked around to see nate standing there in front of her in a suit with his hair slicked back and a smile on his face
"hi ronnie" he said and she smiled brightly
"hi nate" she said and he smiled before he walked over and they heard a song start in the back
"do you know this?" she asked and he nodded
"i wrote it, now follow me" he said and he started to sing the lyrics as he looked at her with a smile on his face

a voice like an angel i've never heard before" he sang and he nodded as she continued

-END DREAM SEQUENCE-
"ronnie come on wake up" caitlyn said and she woke up as she looked around and noticed that the stars were out and the moon was too
"weird" she whispered and she stood up as caitlyn grabbed her guitar and pillow and brought her back to the cabin
if only the dream had been real
