He was raised over seas in a 3rd world country that no longer exists due to a war he was forced to fight in from a young age. Once it was over however he stowed away on a ship to Japan where he did what he had to in order to survive. This caused him to have to do less than pleasant things for a boy who had barely even hit puberty. He never fully recovered from this trauma, he has a major hatred towards the human race and an almost sickening love of blood and gore. He had seen maou before at MgRonalds and always felt something off. He'd often keep watch over him, as something about the man peaked his interest. It wasn't until the formerly met when Hoshi had enlisted the man's help while trying to avoid a stalker that he fell head over heels for the man. The first person to be kind to him without conditions in years. At first he hated it, not having realized Maou was a demon. However he grew to accept it more and more as he started to try and hang around him more until it came the collapse of the bridge to which he discovered the man he had fallen for wasn't a human at all! Two which he fully accepted his feelings and now will do anything to ensure that Maou and him will be together

While this misunderstanding did get resolved in the end, Shu and Hoshi made a deal. Hoshi would help Shu get used to the human world and Shu would be there to help protect him. Ever since then Shu has been putting up with Hoshi's wild shenanigans and watching him grow....though these Shenanigans did cause him to pick up smoking to help relieve some of his stress. He doesn't particularly miss Ente Isla either and fully intends to stay with Hoshi until the end.
