chapter twelve: sunshine
┉┅━━━━━━━━━━┅┉

suna and kiiro spent the entire afternoon wandering around and taking photos from left to right. they were so preoccupied with one another's presence that they didn't even notice that it was already dinner time. both of them met up with the miya twins in the restaurant owned by the resort and had their dinner before heading back to their hotel room to take a rest after the long day.

"good night, ro-chan," osamu said with a smile, and kiiro responded to him.

"iro-chan, ya' can sleep with us if ya' too scared ta' sleep alone!" atsumu teased, receiving a strong kick in the arse from the latter. "i was just jokin', iro!" he cried, following his twin in the room while easing the pain in his arse.

suna snickered at the blond and then diverted his attention to her. "have a good sleep, roki." he patted her head.

kiiro grinned and nodded, "you too, taro. good night!" and then went inside her room.

the brown-haired male became a blushing mess again, and his chest was pounding once again. he turned to leave the lounge area and went to the other room when he heard a creaking door behind him and he heard her solemn voice softly call out his name, causing him to feel the similar sensation in his stomach.

"yeah?" suna turned around to face her. his chest started pounding again at the cute sight of her. the way her head was peering out of the door and her hoodie's sleeves were covering her whole hand.

kiiro bit her lower lip and looked away. "n-nothing... see you tomorrow," she mumbled, immediately closed the door without any other words, leaving a flustered suna alone.

"what just happened?" suna thought, shaking his head while heading to the other room. the arguing voices of the twins greeted him when he entered the room, disregarding their presence.

his body plumped on the bed, he opened his phone as he scrolled through the gallery filled with kiiro's stolen shots and a few photos of the scenery. everything was taken by his camera awhile ago, but he shared it on his phone to add the new photos of her to his collection.

the brown-haired boy was aware that he might come off as a creep, but he was just deeply enchanted by kozume kiiro.

"what ya' smiling at, suna?" atsumu asked, wiggling his eyebrows at the male on his right.

suna only gave him a glance and went under the sheets, while still scrolling through his gallery and admiring each of kiiro's photos. the blond squinted his eyes at the latter, before turning to his twin brother with a playful smirk on his face.

"samu, suna's checking ya' girl out!" atsumu said. his twin immediately got up from his bed and went to suna, pestering the boy hiding under the sheets. the one who started the ruckus watched the whole thing going on while still teasing the both of them - he was practically adding fuel to the fire.

"that was ro-chan's photos!" osamu yelled, clenching onto suna's shirt.

suna narrowed his eyes on him, grabbing his shirt collar as well. "and so? it has nothin' ta' do with ya'!"

"hah?" osamu scowled, "ye'r a creep!" he exclaimed, annoying suna even more.

"ya' just envious because i spent ta' entire afternoon with her while ye'r competing with atsumu!" suna retorted, not backing down from the fight.

osamu clicked his tongue, gritting his teeth. "sumu was ta' one who challenged me!"

"why am i included in ye'r fight?" the blond asked, gaining their death glares.

"ye'r ta' one who started it!" both osamu and suna yelled at him, startling the blond.

before any of them could speak up again, a loud knock was heard from their room's door, and then a deep voice followed.

"go to sleep."

in a flash, the three of them settled into their own beds silently. they listened to the footsteps fading away and the soft slam of the door. neither of them broke the lingering silence in the air, too scared that the girl next door will suddenly reappear. the long silence made the three inarikazi boys fell asleep after a long, exhausting day.

meanwhile, in the other room, kiiro was still up messaging her brother. after not contacting him for the whole afternoon, she decided to talk to him before heading to sleep since she knew he might be worried.

"is it really necessary to call?" kiiro groggily mumbled.

kenma sighed. "i can no longer understand your messages since they were full of typo."

"because i'm tired~" the female whined, yawning for the third time during their call.

the blond kozume overheard his sister kept yawning on the other line. kenma knew that pestering kiiro with questions at this state might cause a problem because the girl is extremely sensitive and grumpy when sleepy.

"you can go to..." kenma stopped talking when he heard her soft snores, "...sleep now." he continued, with a smile sneaking up on his face.

kenma ended the call and went to sleep right after. his mind was now free from any worry, knowing that his sister was all safe and sound by herself with her friends in nagano, but he couldn't contain his excitement to see her again tomorrow.

the sun crept up from the horizon at around four o'clock. its rays slowly sneaked through the blinds each hour that had passed by, reaching all the way to the raven-haired girl sleeping soundly covered with the white sheets.

the warmth filled up the air conditioned room. a groan erupted from her throat as she woke up due to the sudden rise in tempature. she sat up and stretched out her limbs like a cat, getting up from her bed and went to open the blinds.

she was to be greeted by the natural light from the golden orb resting in the blue sky. her nose scrunched, but then a small smile appeared on her face when she saw the birds resting by the rails on the veranda.

"ohayō," she giggled, giving a small wave at the birds. the morning creatures chirped, as if responding to her greeting.

kiiro started her morning by fixing the bed and freshening herself up. aside from the fact that she's strict with her fixed schedule, she doesn't like the idea of letting anyone see her with a disheveled look.

"oh? ro-chan, ohayō!" osamu greeted the girl who had emerged from her room, starling her.

kiiro blinked, lightly bowing her head. "ohayō, omu."

the latter gave her a toothy grin and nodded. he couldn't contain the happiness within him. seeing her first thing in the morning is something he wants to witness everyday.

"you're up early. where's the other two?" kiiro asked, smoothing out the wrinkles on her black hoodie.

osamu shrugged. "dead asleep," he then copied their snores, and proceeded to rant about how loud they were.

the raven-haired girl giggled, shaking her head. "you deserve a fulfilling breakfast for that sleepless night. let's go have breakfast, omu-chan."

his eyes widened at her unexpected invitation. it's not that he didn't want to join her for breakfast, but eating out alone with her was just one of the things he wanted to do with kiiro. now, he found himself sitting at the same table as her.

"what do you want, omu?" kiiro asked, without diverting her eyes from the menu.

"i think i'll get the pancakes. how about ya'?" osamu asked back, gazing at the raven-haired girl sitting across from him.

"i'll have the pancakes as well, and banana milk from the vending machine." she set the menu aside before meeting his eyes. "i also want what you want," she said with a grin, and the latter became a blushing mess as he immediately glanced away.

"can you order it for us? let's split the receipt later. i'll just have to buy a banana milk," kiiro pointed to the vending machine just right outside the glass door of the restaurant.

osamu nodded, letting her do what she wanted. right after kiiro left, a waitress approached their table and took their order. it wasn't for awhile when kiiro got back to their table, plopping herself on the cushioned sit.

"that was quic- woah..."

osamu was stunned. the girl in front of him was cradling five boxes of banana milk in her arms, as if she was holding a baby. she gently placed the cartons on the table and then opened one of them, immediately sipping the milk to fulfill her morning cravings.

"ya' sure love banana milk, eh?" osamu chuckled, amused by her golden orbs glistening with happiness and contentment.

the smell of freshly cooked pancakes was all over the air, and it was surely mouth-watering at how delicious it smelled. after receiving their orders, osamu took out his phone and took a couple of snaps of their breakfast.

"itadakimasu," kiiro mumbled, before devouring the pancakes. the fluffiness of the pancake was amazing, and the way it melted in her mouth was on another level. the butter and the honey drizzled on the pancake, combined with the fruits on the sides was heavenly.

on the other hand, osamu stayed still in his seat, still not touching the food in front of him. he became engrossed in watching the raven-haired girl enjoying her food and squealing like a child because of the tasty pancakes.

"adorable." he grinned widely to himself, grabbing the phone on the table. he sneakily opened the camera and took a photo of her eating. even though it seems creepy to catch a guy taking a snap of someone, osamu doesn't even care anymore.

"omu, why aren't you eating yet? the food will get cold," kiiro stated, startling the male and almost dropping his phone.

osamu swiftly faced down his phone towards his plate, pretending that he was taking a photo of the food again. he sheepishly smiled at her, scratching his ear in embarrassment before he began devouring the pancakes. neither of them speak up throughout the whole breakfast, but the light grey-haired male spared glances at her occassionally.

"is there something on my face, omu-chan?" kiiro asked, wiping her lips with the tissue after finishing her breakfast.

his eyes widened in shock, and he quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed for the second time since she caught him staring at her. osamu just couldn't restrain himself from looking at her - there's something about her that it's addictive.

"n-nothin'." he chuckled nervously, but then he found himself glancing at her again, and this time his eyes remained on her. the warm rays of the sun softly kissed her fair skin, enhancing her facial features further; she is breathtaking.

"you look beautiful," osamu said.

kiiro looked at him with a stunned expression. she blinked multiple times, trying to process his statement.

"sunshine," osamu called, referring to the raven-haired girl. he grabbed her hands, lightly squeezing it. "you are so beautiful."

both of them stared and got immersed at each other's gaze. neither of them broke the lingering silence nor diverted their eyes away from each other.

"ooh, they went on a date. told ya' so, suna." atsumu teased, side-eyeing suna with a smirk.

the two males happened to decide to go out and eat breakfast instead of calling for room service. atsumu was the first one who saw the pair right after entering the restaurant with suna. with a plan in his mind, he grabbed suna and dragged him to the table without any words, leading them to the current situation.

"don't be butthurt, suna." osamu folded his arms together. a proud smile was painted on his face while smugly looking at the brown-haired male.

suna glared at him, taking steps forward and towering over the light grey-haired miya. "am not because i know my place," he responded, and the two began arguing again.

kiiro scrunched her nose before escaping the scene, not forgetting to leave a few bills of money on the table. she headed to their hotel room and decided to take a shower to change into her uniform since she'd be heading back to tokyo before lunch time and attend her afternoon classes.

after finishing her quick shower, she stood in front of the mirror and used the blow dryer to dry off her damp hair, proceeding to tie it in a high ponytail and letting a few strands of hair loose in front, illuminating her face shape.

her cheeks puffed out as she placed her brush on the marbled counter, and her hands clenched on the edge. her golden orbs stared her reflection at the mirror, and her cheeks were dusted with pink and red.

"what the hell was that, osamu?"
