Candi goes into Petalburg Forest, where they find a mysterious Pokémon. However, they were unsuccessful in catching it. They then watch an intense battle between a Greninja and Magmortar. They meet the Greninja trainer known as Leo. Now follow Candi's journey through the Petalburg Forest alongside some other companions.

"So, the PWC is a tournament where trainers from around the world battle to become the very best?" I asked.
"Each time you defeat a trainer, your rank goes up. If you are number one in the rank, you are the Pokémon World Monarch!" said Leo.
"That is so cool!"
"Yeah, and you can sign up right now!"
"So that's why you were battling that trainer."
"Yeah!"
"Alrighty, then," I take out my Poryphone and search up about the World Coronation Series, "250,000 trainers!? That's a lot! And there are more joining!"
"New Trainer, Candi! Your rank is... Normal Class, Top 250,034!" announced a small speaker on the Poryphone.
"Hey! Now that I have this, I battle and meet other trainers! Now, who will be my first opponent." The screen on the Poryphone flashed.
"A new opponent found! Leo from the Kalos region."
"Let's have a battle," said Leo.
"Alright!"
"What!? A battle with Leo? That isn't gonna be an easy battle!" said Aiden, one of Leo's friends.
"A battle is a battle no matter who you battle. And there is only one way to get stronger, so I'll battle you!"

"A battle challenge has been issued. Do you wish to accept or reject it?" announced both of our phones.
"Accept!" I yelled out.
"I accept!" said Leo.
"You have been approved for an Official Pokémon World Coronation Series Normal Class Battle! Today's challengers will be Leo from the Kalos region and Candi from the Unova Region! For today's battle, each of you can choose two Pokémon! Will both challengers please bring out your Pokémon! Thank you! 3, 2, 1!"
"Lilo!"
"Treecko!"
"I choose you!"
"Lotad! Lotad!" said Lilo.
"Tree-cko!" said the Treecko.
"Treecko, use Quick Attack!" said Leo.
"Lilo, Growl!" I said.
Treecko's attack has lowered.
"Now, Lilo, use water gun on the ground to dodge it!"
"Treecko! Use Pound!"
The attack lands before Lotad could get away.
"Gah! Lilo, are you ok?"
"Lo-tad!" it said as it stood up.
"Use Leer!" said Leo.
"Astonish, now!" I said back.
Treecko flinched!
"Use Absorb!" I said.
Lotad regained a bit of health.
"Treecko, use Quick Attack!"
"Use Water Gun! Stop it in its tracks!"
A direct hit on Treecko! But Treecko continues to run toward Lotad at a fast pace.
"Use pound!"
Lotad fainted.
"Lilo! Get some rest. Zuko, come on out!"
"Tor- chic!!" exclaimed Zuko.
"Now, Zuko, use peck!"
"Quick! Dodge it!" said Leo.
"Use ember!"
A direct hit! It was super effective! Treecko fainted.
"Yes!"
"Treecko, return! I choose you, Greninja!"
"Greninja, that's Leo's ace Pokémon. There's no way such a new trainer could defeat months of experience," said Ulises, Leo's brother.
Hmm... Greninja. I can't have Zuko get anywhere near Greninja, or it might use Night Slash. And Zuko must be quick on its feet to dodge the Water Shurikens as long as I- I got it!
"Greninja uses smoke-screen!" said Leo.
"Zuko use ember on the ground!"
"Is that- sand attack!?" questioned Aiden.
It's going to make it hard for Greninja to see!
"Use Focus Energy!" I said.
"Night Slash, now!" said Leo.
"Ember and dodge to the right!"
Greninja's accuracy lowered.
The smoke began to clear up, but the sand attack still affected Greninja.
"Focus Energy!"
"Use Water Shuriken!"
"Duck!"
It missed! Just as planned!
"Use ember on the ground again!"
"Use Water Shuriken!"
"Focus Energy!"
Water Shuriken landed a hit on Torchic.
"Oh no!"
"Use Night Slash!"
"Ember!"
Ember landed a direct hit on Greninja. But Greninja's Night Slash also landed. It caused an explosion.
"Zuko!"
"Zuko is unable to battle! The winner is Leo! Today, there has been a change in the rankings of the Pokémon World Coronation Series."
I looked at my Poryphone.
"Your rank is now 250,069 in Common Class." it displayed.
"Sorry that for your first battle you had to lose," said Leo.
"That's no problem. You put in your all, and I thank you for that. I knew I was going to lose regardless," I said, "You know what! I'll join you! And hopefully, then I can become stronger!"
"Alright!"
