Andy and Robert, after exiting the meeting with the Chief, both agreed to pretend to be married only when necessary. But things were not going to go as they thought, because when they got to the station they saw someone who would ruin all their plans.
Andy: "No, no, no. This is not good at all, why is he here?" she said pointing to the person in front of the station.
Robert: "I don't know why he's here" he replied shaking his head. "But since he's here we should keep pretending until he leaves"
Andy: "I hope he leaves soon" she snorted as Robert let out a little laugh. "Do you find all this funny?"
Robert: "A little bit yes. Do we have to stay in the car or can we go into the station, sweetie?"
Andy: "Sweetie? To me? You're joking, right?"
Robert: "I'm very serious, sweetie. We are married, it is normal for us to call you by nicknames"
Andy: "Ahhh, I hate you and I hate if you call me sweetie" she said as she got out of the car.
Robert: "I hate you too, sweetie" he replied as he also got out of the car.
Robert joined Andy and took her by the hand, Maddox was outside the station and it seemed that he was waiting for them. As Andy and Robert walked towards the entrance of the station holding hands, Andy shook Robert's hand more and more so as not to start yelling at Maddox right away.
Robert: "You're hurting me"
Andy: "I know, but I'm just doing it to try and be nice to that"
Robert: "Okay, but I'd like my hand to keep working later, sweetie" Andy squeezed Robert's hand even tighter, sticking her nails into his skin. "Ouch"
Andy: "You deserve it, next time you'll think twice before calling me sweetie"
Robert: "I'm your husband, your bodyguard and I'll call you whatever I want. Now pretend at least a little in love, Maddox is watching us" he said whispering in Andy's ear and she smiled. "What are you doing here?" he asked Maddox.
Maddox: "I will work here for a few weeks" he replied in a very satisfied tone of voice.
Andy: "Are you kidding right? You can't work here"
Maddox: "But yes" he replied, smiling mischievously at Andy and she rolled her eyes. "I asked to be transferred to learn from the best. You say that you are the best station and.."
Robert: "Ok, ok, okay. By now it's all done, there is no other choice" Andy snorted.
Andy: "Honey.." she said turning to Robert in a very sweet way. "If he has to work with us, never pair me with him" she continued to say with sweet eyes.
Robert: "I'll try" he replied giving her a quick kiss.
Maddox: "Well.. this seems to me something inappropriate"
Andy: "What? The kiss between my husband and me?"
Maddox: "That too, but also the fact that you ask your husband for favors on shifts"
Robert: "This is the first time he has asked for something. I am the Captain and I decide what is best for my team. You understood?" he replied in a harsh tone.
Maddox: "Yes Captain"
Robert: "Good. Now go get changed, the shift will start soon"
Maddox did not answer and entered the station. After a few seconds Andy and Robert also walked in and Andy followed Robert into his office.
Andy: "I hate this whole situation, it's all your fault"
Robert: "You already told me, I already told you I'm sorry. Did you want me not to intervene to save you?"
Andy: "No, but.. it was going well, the Boss believed our story, we could continue to hate each other all day and now things have changed"
Robert: "What is it Herrera, are you afraid of falling in love with me?" he said getting very close to Andy and their faces were inches apart.
Andy: "I could never fall in love with you, I hate you"
Robert: "You know.. we're playing with fire and someone might get burned" he replied in a rather seductive tone.
Andy: "I'm used to working with fire, I love fire, I love risk and I'm very sure I hate you"
Robert: "Are you sure?" he said getting even closer to her.
Andy: "Sure" she replied looking into her eyes.
Robert: "Ok. You can go now if you want" he said, walking away from her.
Andy: "Well.. don't you even give your wife a kiss?" she asked leaving Robert with a confused face.
Robert: "Why do you want a kiss from me? We're alone now, we don't have to pretend"
Andy: "Because those are the only thing I like about you and if I have to pretend all day, I deserve at least a kiss"
Robert approached Andy again and they kissed.
Andy: "That doesn't change the fact that I hate you"
Robert: "I know"
Andy wanted another kiss from Robert before he left and then went to put her things in her locker. Andy and Robert had agreed that at the station when they were on duty they would not wear their rings and both had put them in a safe place before the shift began. When Andy was finishing putting her things in the locker, Vic and Travis joined her because they were curious to know how the meeting with the Chief had gone.
Travis: "So.. you know we want to know everything. How did you go with the Chief?"
Andy: "It went well, but we can't talk about it now. Do you know that Maddox moved here for a few weeks?"
Vic: "I knew it, Luke told me last night"
Andy: "And you didn't think to warn me?"
Vic: "No, you only had to think about meeting the Chief and nothing else"
Andy: "Robert and I had a perfect plan. We would only fake the wedding in certain moments, we would have worn the rings only in those moments, but now we have to fake every minute of the day" she said in frustration.
Travis: "Did you say rings? Have you bought any rings?" Andy nodded as she smiled. "When? How? I want to see. Why don't you wear it?"
Andy: "For safety we decided not to wear them when we are on duty and.. we bought them yesterday afternoon. After the shift, come to my house and I'll tell you everything"
Travis: "But the shift has just begun and I'm very curious"
Vic: "We know, but since Maddox is at the station it's best to talk as little as possible about this. And then.. ohhh it will be so fun to see those two all day pretending to be in love" she said laughing.
Travis: "Yeah, well.. I think I'll have a lot of fun making fun of them all day"
Andy: "It's going to be a long day" she replied with a snort.
All three then joined the others where Maddox was also. Andy was about to leave when she saw him, but Robert appeared behind her and hugged her, preventing her from leaving. Andy sat down at the table while Robert made a cup of coffee for both himself and Andy. At first she was almost surprised by Robert's gesture, but then she remembered that they were pretending to be married so she looked at him and smiled. During the breakfast they usually had together, Robert told everyone the news, Maddox's that he would be staying with them for a few weeks. After finishing breakfast, Robert gave all the assignments for the day and obviously made sure that Andy and Maddox stayed away as much as possible. For once Robert had done what Andy asked him to do and she was happy about it. They all got to work and Robert went to Luke's before going to his office.
Robert: "You knew, why didn't you warn me before?" he said walking into Luke's office and then closing the door.
Luke: "I received Maddox's request yesterday afternoon and I tried hard not to approve this transfer. I had to approve it, otherwise on the upper floors they could investigate and discover your fake marriage"
Robert: "Well.. you had no other choice, but you should at least have warned me"
Luke: "No, you and Andy just had to think about meeting the Chief. By the way, how did it go?"
Robert: "Well, he believed our story" he replied very satisfied.
Luke: "You can pretend well if he believed you" he laughed. "I still can't believe you have to pretend you're in love. You two fighting over every little thing. How did you come up with the idea that Andy was your wife?"
Robert: "I don't know why I said it, Maddox was bothering her and .. boh, I said the first thing that came to my mind"
Luke: "Isn't it by chance that you really fell in love with her?"
Robert: "What? No. I could never ever fall in love with someone like Andy"
Luke: "Are you really sure?"
Robert: "Absolutely sure. We will lie for a while and then we will end this farce"
Luke: "Oh, my friend, this story is never going to end. I'm sure in the end you two will really fall in love"
Robert: "It will never happen. And now if you're done talking nonsense, I'll go to my office to work"
Luke: "I'm done for now, but it will be a lot of fun to see you act like two lovebirds in love" Robert shook his head and left Luke's office.
Robert stopped by on his way to his office to check on the work others were doing, but most of all he wanted to make sure Maddox wasn't bothering Andy. While Robert was sitting at his desk immersed in paperwork, the alarm went off for a call and they all left. They had been called for an accident involving multiple vehicles and until they arrived at the call site, no one knew what to expect. When they arrived at the place of the call they saw that a truck and several cars were involved. Robert first told everyone what they had to do and they then went to check the situation so they could then proceed. There were some people left in the car because they couldn't get out, but the priority at the moment was to get the driver out of the truck because his conditions didn't seem very good. Robert knew his team well and so he told everyone what to do, leaving Maddox out of action for the moment.
Maddox: "Captain, it's not fair that I stay here doing nothing"
Robert: "And who tells you that you won't do anything? Make sure those people still inside their cars are okay and ask them if they need anything"
Maddox: "Do I just have to do this? It's easy"
Robert: "No, it's not easy, you have to make sure that everyone continues to feel good and you have to reassure them that we will be with them in a short time. If anyone feels pain or anything, you have to tell me immediately, understand?"
Maddox: "Yes Captain"
Maddox went to do what Robert told him to do and Robert went back to follow the truck driver's extraction work. The job was a bit complicated to get the man out because the truck had overturned, some parts were damaged, and they had to act carefully and safely. As soon as they managed to get the truck driver out, they took care of the rest of the people who were trapped in their cars. Maddox had no problem controlling those people and then helped him free them too. Once all the people were out of their league, they cleared the scene and returned to the station. The surgery took a long time and when they returned to the station it was lunchtime, but everyone was quite tired and preferred to rest and eat later. Before going to rest Andy went to the kitchen to get something to eat while Robert went to relax in the common room. Andy after taking some food he saw Robert sitting in the chair and decided to join him.
Andy: "Why are you here?"
Robert: "I wanted to relax watching the news on tv"
Andy: "Oh, I thought I had the tv all to myself" she said sitting on the sofa.
Robert: "And what would you have seen?" he asked curiously.
Andy: "I don't know, anything but the news"
Robert: "Well, I'm sorry, but if you stay here you'll have to look at that"
Andy: "Are you sure?" she said looking for the remote.
Robert: "If you're looking for the remote, well.. you won't get it that easily" he said waving the remote he held in his hand in front of Andy's face.
Andy: "Give it to me"
Robert: "No, if you want it you will have to try to catch it" he replied defiantly.
Andy: "So.." she walked over to Robert and she sat on his lap.
Andy tried to get the remote from Robert's hands but was unsuccessful. She tried in every way, but Robert prevented him from taking it every time and laughed. She kept moving over Robert and at one point when Vic walked into that room, Andy was about to get up but Robert stopped her.
Robert: "You can't get up" he said whispering in Andy's ear.
Andy: "Why not?"
Robert: "Because even if I hate you, I'm still a man and you should stop moving your ass on top of me"
Andy: "Ohh, that's what that hard thing I felt was" she replied, laughing. "Can you give me the remote now? Otherwise I get up.."
Robert: "Here" he said handing the remote to Andy.
Andy: "Thank you" she replied with a tone of victory. "Vic, can you pass me those snacks?"
Vic passed the snacks to Andy. "You two are acting weird.."
Andy: "It's not true, it's just we're just practicing pretending to be together"
Vic: "Go ahead, you are very convincing, I'm going back to rest" she said as he left the room.
Andy: "Do you want some?" she asked Robert if he also wanted the snack that Andy was eating.
Robert: "What are you eating?"
Andy: "Cereal bars with chocolate"
Robert: "If you share one with me, ok"
Andy: "Open your mouth"
Robert opened his mouth, Andy approached the bar he was holding and Robert took a bite of it. They kept eating a few bars like that and Robert had his arms wrapped around Andy's body and at that moment it was like they were really in love and didn't hate each other. After spending some nice time together, Andy went to rest in her bunk while Robert went to write the call report. The rest of the shift went pretty smoothly, Maddox tried to annoy Andy, but every time he tried, Robert came and Maddox walked away. When the shift was over, as Andy and Robert still had to maintain cover, Andy got into Robert's car and drove to her house. As they were going home they noticed that Maddox was following them again this time. As soon as we got to Andy's house, she told him that Vic and Travis were going to be there tonight so it was better if he called Luke too. Robert called Luke and told him to go home, but first he had to go to Robert's house to get some clothes because he imagined that he would spend that night on Andy's sofa too. Meanwhile, Andy had started preparing things for dinner, but Robert stepped in and took matters into his own hands.
Robert: "I'm going to have to throw all that pre-cooked food in the trash" he said desperately.
Andy: "It's my home and I do what I want"
Robert: "I already told you that I will teach you to cook something, but not tonight"
Andy: "So we'll eat this stuff here"
Robert: "Absolutely not. We will order something"
Andy: "As you want. I'm going to take a shower, could you open the door when the others arrive?"
Robert: "Yes"
Meanwhile, Robert did what he told Andy a while ago and threw the last few boxes of pre-cooked food in the trash and then ordered pizza for dinner. Andy took a very quick shower and then put on something comfortable. Meanwhile Vic, Travis and Luke had arrived and they were all together on the sofa having a beer. As soon as Andy changed, he joined them and took a beer too.
Travis: "So.. will you show us the ring now?" Andy nodded and stretched out his hand to Vic, Travis and Luke showing the ring but keeping the writing hidden inside.
Vic: "Oh, wow, it's really very cool and.."
Travis: "Are those real diamonds?"
Andy: "Yes"
Luke: "For a fake wedding you got very expensive rings.."
Robert: "If we have to pretend, we have to do it right" he replied looking at Andy. "I am still a Captain and I will not let my wife miss anything, if she wants something, she will have it"
Andy: "Ohhh, I'll remember that" she replied laughing and then approached Robert and stole a kiss from him.
Vic: "You can keep hating yourself when we're here, you don't have to keep pretending"
Andy: "But we continue to hate each other, but if we can be convincing with you, we won't have problems with others"
Travis: "Aren't you enjoying this situation?"
Andy-Robert: "No" they answered at the same time and the other three laughed.
Robert: "Did you take my things?" he asked Luke.
Luke: "Yes, but why did you make me take them?"
Robert: "Maddox followed us up here after the shift and it wasn't the first time"
Luke: "And you didn't tell him anything?"
Robert: "Not yet, but I'll do it tomorrow"
Vic: "So you're going to sleep here?"
Robert: "Yes, the sofa is quite comfortable"
Travis: "Do you sleep on the sofa? Have you slept here yet?"
Andy: "Only once. It happened on the evening of the day of recruitment"
Travis: "Married people sleep together"
Andy: "We don't" she replied, rolling her eyes.
Robert: "I'm going to open the door, dinner is here" he said after he heard the doorbell ring.
While Robert went to open the door for dinner, the other four sat down at the table and then when Robert put the pizza on the table they started having dinner. During dinner, Travis, Luke and Vic enjoyed teasing Andy and Robert. After they finished eating the pizza, Andy got the ice cream and instead of sitting down again in her place, she went and sat on Robert's legs. After what had happened at the station, Andy wanted to have fun teasing Robert, so she occasionally moved on top of him knowing full well the effect she was having on him.
Robert: "I already told you today, you can't keep doing what you're doing" he told Andy in a low voice so that no one could hear.
Andy: "Why, is this a problem?"
Robert: "It's a big problem. It doesn't matter if I hate you, but if you keep rubbing yourself like this, well.. it won't be easy to hold me back"
Andy: "You have so little resistance.." she said continuing to tease him.
Robert: "I can hold out for a very long time, but.." their conversation was interrupted by Luke.
Luke: "Hey, lovebirds, do we have to leave you alone by any chance?"
Robert: "Huh?"
Luke: "You have isolated yourself in your happy bubble.."
Andy: "There is no happy bubble" she replied while eating a spoonful of ice cream.
Robert: "I have a lot of ideas on how I could use that ice cream" he whispered to Andy to tease her then he turned to Luke. "How long will you keep calling us lovebirds?"
Luke: "For a long time" Robert rolled his eyes.
After they finished dinner, the others went home leaving Andy and Robert alone. Andy went to get Robert's things and left them on the couch. But before going to sleep, Andy wanted something from Robert.
Andy: "Robert?" he turned to her. "I want my goodnight kiss"
Robert: "Can I refuse to kiss you?"
Andy: "Absolutely not, do you remember what you said earlier? If your wife wants something, she will have it, so.."
Robert: "Now I'm sorry I said that" he said as he approached her.
Robert gently stroked Andy's cheek and then they kissed.
Andy: "Good night, Robert"
Robert: "Good night, kitty" Andy gave him a bad look. "What? You purred today, kitty seems to me the perfect nickname"
Andy: "No, I hate that nickname and I hate you"
Robert: "I hate you too, kitty"
Andy went to her room, changed and then went to sleep. Robert also undressed, fixed the sofa and fell asleep in no time. The next morning they both woke up late and decided to have breakfast at the station. When they arrived at the station, Robert saw Maddox and approached him threateningly.
Robert: "You, do you want to stop following us?" he said pointing the finger at him.
Maddox: "I.. I.."
Robert: "You have no excuse, stop following me and my wife" he said taking Maddox by the collar of his shirt and then Andy intervened.
Andy: "Honey, leave him alone, it's better"
Maddox: "Oh yes, listen to your wife"
Robert: "If I see you even once you follow us, I'll report you, understand?" he said in a very threatening tone.
Maddox: "Ok, ok, I don't do it anymore" he said, almost running inside the station.
Andy: "Was it really necessary to threaten him like that?"
Robert: "Yes, I don't want to continue sleeping on your sofa, I need to sleep in my bed"
Andy: "You're right, but maybe next time I'll have the guest room ready"
Robert: "Wow, I didn't think you still wanted me to sleep in your house"
Andy: "Yeah, well.. it's just to keep our coverage and then because I like it when you get pastries for breakfast"
Robert: "Ahhh, that's what the real reason was, you only want me for the pastries"
Andy: "Exactly" she replied with a little laugh. "Now let's go in, we haven't had breakfast and I'm hungry"
Robert: "Let's go"
Andy: "And.. just so you know, you'll make me breakfast" she said running inside so as not to give a way to reply to Robert.
Robert shook his head and went to his office to put his things in the locker and then join Andy in the kitchen. She sat waiting for Robert and her breakfast. Robert made a cup of coffee and milk for Andy and when he brought it to her, he also brought her a box of her favorite cereal. Before sitting down to breakfast, Robert made a smoothie that he would drink later and then ate breakfast. After everyone finished their breakfast, Robert gave the various assignments for the day and then they got to work.
Also in the following days, as had happened in the previous ones, Robert had managed to keep Andy away from Maddox, but then this was not possible when they found themselves together in a call. Maddox was with Andy but he did not follow her orders and so there was an accident that put one of them in danger. Robert kept calling Andy on the radio, but she wasn't answering and he was really worried about her.
