You walk into the flower shop and see her tending to the customers. You smile softly before browsing the selection. You pretend to be interested in the flowers as she rings up the last customer.
"I was thinking.. You know if you didn't have any plans, I could take you out for some Ichiraku ramen sometime?" You rolled your eyes as the last guy attempted to ask her out on a date.
"That's very sweet of you, but I'm afraid I'm not looking for a relationship." She responds, making you chuckle quietly to yourself before grabbing her favorite flower and walking up to the counter as the guy leaves the store.
"Hello, Y/n." She greets you with a faint blush on her cheeks. You look around and notice an older lady at the far end of the shop looking at the daffodils.
"Hello, gorgeous." You smirk, causing her blush to intensify. She grabbed the flower and rang you up like a regular customer.
"Y/n, there's someone in here.." She whispered.
"I know, that's why I said it quietly. I wanted you to know that I think you look gorgeous today."
"You tell me that everyday though."
"Hm. I suppose you're right. I guess it's because you look beautiful everyday." You winked and she nervously looked back at the older lady who was still browsing the flowers in the back.
"You're lucky Mrs. Sato has hearing problems." She chuckled. You playfully rolled your eyes and handed her the money for the flower.
"I suppose it's my lucky day then~" You said before leaning over the counter slightly to kiss her. Before your lips could touch, she jumped back at the sound of the bell on the door.
"Oh! Hi, Shikamaru!" She greeted the lazy Nara. You turned and nodded in his direction and he gave you a nod in return.
"I made Temari mad again and I don't know what I did." You rolled your eyes before scoffing slightly.
"You'll never understand women." You said, slightly annoyed that he interrupted you and Ino.
"It's troublesome but I want to keep her happy." He said in an annoyed tone. He thought women had complex emotions and although he had an insanely high IQ, he was clueless when it came to women.
"I'll make a bouquet, but you need to tell her that you're sorry. You might not know what you did, but starting off with an 'I'm sorry' is probably the best thing for you to do." Ino said, walking around, grabbing an assortment of flowers.
"Yeah yeah. I know. I'll figure it out eventually." He said, placing the money on the counter.
You stood to the side and waited.
"You two hanging out again today?" He asked, looking between the two of you. Ino's eyes widened slightly but you responded before she could.
"Yeah! It's gonna be a girl's night in! We're gonna talk about our skin care routines and what kind of products-"
"I don't really need to know the details. I just noticed that you guys have been hanging out more lately." You saw Ino visibly relax and you laughed slightly.
"Yeah, after we lost our parents in the war, we became closer." You smiled softly remembering how you both comforted each other because neither of you wanted to be alone.
"Yeah, well I'm glad you two became good friends. I need to apologize to Temari now." He said, grabbing the bouquet and leaving.
"Thanks for the save.."
"Not a problem." You smiled as the old lady walked up to the counter with a few daffodils.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Sato." She greeted the older lady as your mind drifted off.
*flashback*
"Hey, Y/n.. can you stay the night again?" Ino asked quietly, as you were gathering your things. You two had grown close after losing your fathers to the war. Though you knew staying another night would be bad for your heart, you couldn't bear to leave her in this state.
"Of course, Ino." You said, placing your things down again and sitting on the edge of her bed.
"Is there anything you wanted to talk about? Or are you ready to lay down?" You asked as she stood next to you.
"I think I'm ready to lay down. I'm tired from working in the shop all day. I just didn't want to be alone again. I like it when you come over and hang out with me."
Dub dub.
You smiled and moved the covers for her to climb under and you got under them after her. She turned to face you and you couldn't help but stare.
"I like hanging out with you too. It's less lonely." You admitted. She blushed slightly but you weren't sure if you were seeing correctly.
Just then you felt a cold draft from her window. You noticed her shiver slightly.
"I- I need to fix that window." She laughed slightly. You smiled and nodded in return.
"I can help you tomorrow if you want." She nodded in response.
"That would be very helpful. I think I need to turn up the heat though." You furrowed your brows and shook your head.
"Ino, you've been having a hard time with bills already, I don't want you to struggle more."
"But it's cold-" You cut her off by scooting in closer and wrapping your arms around her. You mentally scolded yourself for being so impulsive but she surprised you by nuzzling into your neck.
"How are you so warm?" You heard her muffle voice against you and you felt your heart racing.
"I don't know.. I just am.." You laughed nervously as she pulled her head back to look at you.
"Y/n, you have really pretty eyes." She said, catching you by surprise.
"Uh.. what I mean is, you're very pretty in general! Your skin is flawless too!" You couldn't believe what you were hearing. Ino was complimenting you?
"Ino.." You whispered.
"Yes, Y/n?" She asked nervously.
"You're gorgeous.." You said quietly but loud enough for her to hear you.
"I mean, I'm okay.."

You smiled, reminiscing your first kiss with Ino. Of course she reciprocated your feelings but she wasn't ready to come out yet. Which you were okay with because her comfort was all that mattered to you.
However, you couldn't help but get a little upset when she wouldn't tell her childhood friends, Choji and Shikamaru. They were always hanging out and you had to pretend you were just friends so they wouldn't catch on.
Ino finished ringing up the older lady and made eye contact with you.
"Y/n.. Are you okay?" She asked, walking to the door and locking it up for the day. She returned to the counter to count her drawer. You smiled and nodded before walking behind the counter and hugging her.
"I'm okay. I just love you so much, Ino." You said, squeezing her waist. She hugged you back and pulled back surprised.
"I love you too, Y/n. Are you sure nothing's bothering you? You seemed a little sad for a moment." You smiled softly at her and shook your head slightly.
"Nothing gets past you, huh?" Ino gave you a concerned look.
"I know that you're not ready to come out yet, and that's perfectly okay! I don't want you to do anything that you're uncomfortable with. I'm just a little upset that I have to pretend to be your friend in front of your childhood friends. I just love you so much and I want to express it- but I want to respect your boundaries-" Ino cut you off with a kiss. She pulled away and you gave her a shocked look.
"Y/n.. I know. I've been thinking about it too. I don't know if I'm ready to come out to the whole village... but I do want to tell Shikamaru and Choji. They're my closest friends and I want to tell them about us." She said, causing your heart to skip a beat.
"Really?" You asked, unable to tell if you heard her correctly. She chuckled and kissed your forehead.
"Really." Unable to contain your excitement, you lifted her up and spun her around causing her to giggle. You set her on the counter and kissed her deeply, resting your hands on her waist.
Your lips moved smoothly and quickly, not taking long to part for her tongue to slip into your mouth.
You let out a low hum, squeezing your fingers into her hips.
You pulled back and feathered kisses down her neck before sucking the soft skin by her collarbone.

"As you know, Y/n and I have gotten really close after the war because our fathers passed away... but there's more to it than that." She said, fidgeting with her skirt fabric.
"We're together..." She announced.
"We're dating." You said afterwards so they would see the full picture.
The two boys looked at you both and then at each other before nodding.
"We know." Choji said, smiling.
"Well, Choji didn't at first but when he noticed Ino's lack of interest in guys, he caught on." Shikamaru explained.
You and Ino were surprised that they had figured it out.
"How did you-"
"Come on, Ino. Give me a little more credit. You spend most of your time with Y/n and you forget to watch your shadows when you sneak a kiss when my back is turned. I didn't say anything because I figured you would tell us on your own." You felt your face heat up.
How could I not watch my shadow around a shadow manipulator?
"So... You don't think less of us?" Ino asked carefully.
"Less of you? Of course not! You're our best friend. The fact that you're dating a woman doesn't change the fact that you're our friend." Choji said.
"Honestly, I think it's better for a woman to handle you because I don't think a guy could handle you." Shikamaru laughed. Ino rolled her eyes.
"You just don't understand women-"
"She's a handful, but I think I can handle her just fine." You teased. Ino immediately went red and Choji choked on the pork he was chewing. Shikamaru looked at you seriously before smirking.
"I see. Same with Temari. Quite the handful, but I can handle her most of the time." Choji started coughing a second time and Ino closed her eyes and covered her ears.
You and Shikamaru just laughed before continuing your meal.
