The courtroom roared with applause. Kevin Langston was taken away in handcuffs. I looked to Vanessa, she was clapping and looking right back at me. Everyone exited the courtroom heading out for the parking lot.
"Sky!" Vanessa pulled me into a hug. "You did it."
I smiled and kissed the top of her head. "I have some plans for us."
She pulled back to see my face. "What do you mean?"
"It's a surprise."
"You know I hate surprises."
"Well I don't care, I'm not telling you."
She gave me puppy dog eyes.
"That's not going to work on me." I laughed. "Come on, let's get in the car."
It was already dark out, and was almost time for the first surprise I had planned. I drove us out of the city, and Vanessa kept asking questions. About an hour later, we arrived.
"So the first surprise is a drive-in movie."
She quickly turned to face me. "Holy shit! Are you serious?"
I nodded.
"God, I fucking love you."
I smiled.
Vanessa always wanted to go to a drive-in movie, but she's never had the chance to since out hometown didn't have one. And since I knew the owner of the place, I got him to play her favorite movie.
"I can't believe this. Oh my god!"
I parked the car in a good spot facing away the large screen and she immediately pulled me into a passionate kiss. Who knew taking her to a drive-in movie would get her this excited?
I reached for a few blankets in the backseat and got out of the car, Vanessa followed. I opened the trunk and it revealed an assortment of snacks. Putting the back seat down, I laid down the blankets and climbed inside.
"I can't believe you did this." Vanessa laid beside me, getting under the blankets. "I don't deserve you."
I kissed her. "I'm just trying to make up for those five years."
The movie started and Vanessa quickly recognized the opening credits.
"What the fuck? Is this Beetlejuice?"
I nodded.
She climbed on top kissing me deeply. "I can't believe you did all this."
I smiled.
About half way through the movie, Vanessa tapped my shoulder to get my attention. We were cuddling under the blankets and her head was nuzzled into my chest as we watched the movie. I turned my attention to Vanessa.
"I love you so much."
I smiled. "I love you too so much."
"No, no. You don't get what I'm saying." She paused. "I love you more than I thought was humanly possible. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to raise kids with you. I want to kiss you until the day I die."
My heart started pulsing. The most perfect person was in my arms, and telling me all this stuff I would hear from a rom com.
"I want all of those things with you too."
She kissed me slowly, it lasted probably the rest of the movie. Just us kissing in the trunk of my car. And when we heard the other cars leaving, I pulled away and whispered. "I love you so so much."

"Morning." I gently shook Vanessa awake in our bed.
"It's 5:00am. What are you doing?"
"It's time for your next surprise." I smiled. "We're going to take a trip back home."
She sat up, looking suddenly awake. "What about your work? And my work? And how much did this cost?"
I calmed her down. "I made sure the school got you a substitute, and I'm taking off from the law firm."
"What about the money? I'm not letting you pay for it."
"Don't worry about the money."
She then smiled, pulling me onto the bed with her. She kissed me deeply, out tongues tangling together.
"I can't believe you did this. I haven't seen my parents in forever. And I can introduce you to them again. Oh! And Amelia. She's a senior already."
I laughed at her excitement. She was adorable.
After she got dressed and packed, we made our way to the airport. It was a bit crowded, but we eventually made our way onto the plane.
"Remember when we went on that trip to Italy?" Vanessa asked holding my hand.
"Mhm. That was the first time we had sex and when we officially started dating."
She smiled and came close to me to whisper. "When the plane takes off let's sneak into the bathroom and have sex."
I nearly choked. My head couldn't form any words to respond, so I just nodded.
When the flight was over, we made our way out of the airport to be greeted by my sister who was just in New York not too long ago.
"Hey you two." Valentina pulled us into a hug. "So I'm going to drive both of you to your parents place." She gestured toward Vanessa. "And you'll be staying there for the next few days."
Vanessa had a massive smile on her face. "This is so exciting!"
God, she was so cute.
We hopped into my sisters car and drove down the familiar streets toward my girlfriend's house. I didn't tell Vanessa, but I already arranged everything with her parents.
When we pulled into the driveway, I saw Amelia sitting on the front steps. And oh my god, she looked so grown up. We got out of the car and Amelia ran up to us.
"Oh my gosh!" She squealed pulling us into a hug.
"Hi Amelia!" Vanessa said with just as much excitement.
"Hey kiddo." I smiled ruffling her hair around.
Vanessa quickly ran into the house looking for her parents, leaving Amelia and I alone.
"You've grown so much. Do you even remember me?"
"Or course I do!" She laughed. "So you two are back together?"
I nodded before telling her about my plans for the next day.
After the catch up with Amelia, we headed inside to greet her parents.
"Sky!" Vanessa's mom gave me a small hug and I shook her dad's hand. "It's so good to see you again."
I smiled. "You too."
"I made dinner!" She gestured toward the dining room.
We all took our seats around the large table. Vanessa and Amelia on either side of me.
"Have you met our other son Lucas? He lives in New York as well."
I nearly choked on the chicken I was eating. "Uh, no. I haven't." Let's hope Lucas never mentioned the engagement to his parents in the future.
"We moved in together." Vanessa announced.
Her mom smiled. "That's great sweetie. I'm so happy for you two."
Although it was fucked up of me to think, I felt a somewhat jealous of her parents being so supportive. While my father and I haven't spoke in five years. But I still had Valentina and I was perfectly content with that.
When dinner was over, we headed into Vanessa's room for the night. It was really nostalgic. We undressed into our underwear, like usual, and hopped into bed.
"I have one more surprise for you tomorrow." I smiled leaning over to face Vanessa.
"Baby, you don't have to do that." She cupped both of my cheeks with her soft hands.
"I know, but this one will top it all off."
She pulled me in for a long kiss. "I love you. Goodnight."
I smiled and placed a small kiss on her forehead. "Goodnight."
