A/N: Next chapter is a flashback, so ignore the random dramatic thingy at the end.

Keira attended the Masquerade Gala later, and came in extremely late, something she did very often.

When she arrived, so did Thierry and Diego, an angry Diego approaching Marcel, who stood with a blonde girl, probably Camille O'Connell.

"Excuse me," Marcel told Cami, walking over to Diego and Thierry. When Diego explained what Thierry had most likely did, Marcel looked angry and walked up the balcony with him.

"I take it you did what I asked?" Nik said. Keira turned, annoyed, and found Nik and Rebekah behind her.

"Yep. It was fun!"

"What the hell did you do?!?" Marcel exclaimed furiously, picking up Thierry by the collar.

"Want any more proof?" Keira said, gesturing to the drama.

"Woah woah, not here!" Diego said, motioning to Cami, who saw the violence. Marcel and his vampires walked away to a different room.

"I want to hear your side of it," the Mikaelson's overheard Marcel ask furiously.

"Hey, Marcel, come on-" Thierry pleaded.

"Your version. Go," Marcel said.

"We were tossing the Cauldron. This guy, some nightwalker, he attacked Katie for no reason."

"His name was Max. I turned him, and as far as reasons go, he doesn't need one. She was a witch. He was a vampire. Now? He's dead," Marcel said angrily.

"I think I know what his reason was," Nik whispered in Keira's ear. She smiled quietly.

"I didn't mean for it to happen!" Thierry said desperately. Rebekah audibly smiled from behind her siblings.

"You broke my most important rule," Marcel sighed angrily. "Damn it, T. How long we been friends? Seventy years? I turned you into something that would never die. I gave you a gift."

"And I have been loyal to you all this time, and I still am. I'm still your friend, Marcel. I swear, that hasn't changed," Thierry replied. Camille O'Connell then walked over to the three.

"Are you all right, love?" Nik asked.

"He's got a temper, doesn't he? I guess this is the moment I remember I know better," Cami said, before walking away. Josh walked up a few steps behind Nik, who pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and gave it to him. Josh took it, and then walked up to Marcel.

"We found this at his girl's place," he said, handing it to Marcel.

Marcel unfolded the paper, and then looked even more angry. "Still my friend, huh? That's funny, because it looks to me like that little witch of yours got her hands on a spell that I keep locked away.?

Thierry looked frantic. "Marcel, I have never seen that."

"Shut up. I see on your hand, you still have the daylight ring I gave you. So, what would you need with the recipe for making new ones? Unless maybe you and Katie were gonna go off and start a little kingdom of your own?" Marcel said.

"Marcel, no!" Thierry exclaimed in confusion.

"Here's a lesson in friendship-- friends don't lie to me, they don't break my rules, and they do not steal what is mine," Marcel replied. "For the crime of murdering one of his own, I sentence Thierry Vanchure to one hundred years in the Garden."

"And it begins," Nik said proudly. As Rebekah sped away out the door to find Sophie Deveraux, the other two went out the balcony to see the witch Katie, Thierry, Marcel, and some of his vampire accomplices.

"Donn moi se la vroh kondu feh aila ra donn toi moi. Donn moi. Salacku tusdeh do. Vala," Katie chanted.

"Translation?" Nik asked quietly.

"Give me... something, I dunno."

"Katie, no!" Thierry yelled.

"Like clockwork," Nik said.

Katie waved her hands, and all of the lamps on the street went out. All of the vampires grabbed their heads, falling over in pain. Marcel tried to get up, but Katie pushed him back down. An invisible force then lifted him back up.

"You're here to save your man. Well, come on, little girl!" Marcel yelled. He ran at Katie, who stopped him again. He fell to his knees, and Katie picked up a stake.

"Die, you son of a bitch," she said angrily.

"No!" Thierry yelled. "Katie, don't!"

"Nik?" Keira said suddenly, realizing her brother was no longer at her side. Before she could react, Nik sped next to Katie and snapped her neck.

"No!" Thierry yelled, running to the corpse and cradling it. "No, Katie, no no no!" Marcel caught Klaus's eyes as Thierry sobbed.

Later on, about two hours later, Marcel walked up to Keira at the Abattoir.

"How much did Cami see?" he asked.

"She just saw an argument, mate. It's nothing you can't fix. You really like her, don't you?" Keira replied.

"I like that she's not a part of any of this. Sometimes it's good to see the world the way the humans do. Where's your brother?"

"Beats me. Sorry 'bout Thierry, he appeared to be close with you. And he was one hell of a trumpet player," Keira said. Marcel smiled.

"I made him what he was. Obviously, my trust was misplaced. Look, you're brother saved me today, so I guess I owe you're family one. You asked for your brother back. Seems like the least I can do," he said.

"Good," Keira said. "Niklaus is at Rousseau's, if you have to know. He's tryna smooth things over with Cami."

When she got home, Rebekah and Nik were waiting.

"Well, tonight was an epic failure," Rebekah said.

"On the contrary, sister. Tonight was a masterpiece," Nik replied.

"Are you mad? Katie died before Sophie could complete the spell."

Keira shut the door. "He's aware, seeing a he's the one who killed her."

Rebekah stared at Nik. "You what?"

"There's no way our little suicide witch wasn't gonna try and take out Marcel with her. I saved his life, and in doing so, I now have him exactly where I want him," Nik said, remorseless.

"Sophie trusted you. I trusted you! Against all my better instincts."

"Wake up, Rebekah-- the witches are on no one's side but their own. This girl, Davina? That's all they want, and when they have her, what do you think happens then, a truce? Of course not. They will use Davina's power against all of us."

"Even if you're right, the plan was to find Elijah, and you've failed us."

"You always did lack faith. By protecting Marcel, I've cemented his trust, so much so that he's agreed to return Elijah to us, hasn't he, sister?" Nik asked. Keira nodded. "And when the time is right, when he has told me everything I need to know about Davina, I will have her for myself."

"I have all the faith in the world that you'll get what you want, Nik. You always do, no matter what is costs the rest of us. You disgust me," Rebekah said angrily. She sipped her bourbon, and then left the room.

"Well," Keira said. "She's pissed at you. Probably should smooth things over with her before she tries to overthrow you. I'm going to bed."

"I'd like to see her try," Nik said as Keira walked up the stairs.

"You underestimate us, Nik. All of us. You always have. G'night," she said, turning around. She then continued up the steps and passed Hayley's room, where she stopped.

"Hi," Hayley said. She was sitting at a desk with papers everywhere. "What're you doing here?"

"I live here, remember?" Keira said playfully. "I thought you might like to know, Elijah is returning to us."

"Congratulations. I guess having a diabolical brother has it's perks."

Keira smiled. "You hardly know him, and yet you miss him. What is it about my brother Elijah that always inspires such instant admiration?"

"He was kind to me," Hayley said.

"One of Elijah's many annoyingly moral traits," Keira said, before turning off to her room.

"Hey," Hayley said before she was out of sight. "I learned something today. I think it's a girl."

Keira smiled. "That's good. I'd hate to have a mini Klaus running around here."

"You seem to dislike males a lot. You said that at one point, you stopped falling in love. When was that?" Hayley asked.

Keira hesitated. "1642."
