Capital of Castine Empire- The Mildred Tavern, 2 days after the Meeting
Calliope has been staying at the Mildred Tavern for 2 days. On 1st day to scout her area, and 2nd day, she had been learning about the locals and information. Currently, Calliope woke up from her nap and her appearance changed since she put on a magical ring to hide her appearance, popular for Black Market dealers or "unusual Clients", said one of the owners of the ally street stores. Calliope's hair is a magenta color, with golden-yellow eyes.
Now she was paying the tavern owner for her room with stolen money she took off some guards. (Those poor guards) Calliope began to head off more into the center of the Capitol. She learned that she may find the person who killed her mother there when she told some dealers at the tavern.
As she walks down the ally way, Calliope came out of it to see the bustling market. The streets were filled with the sounds of people shopping/ selling, horses pulling carriages, and shops selling products or goods. Calliope sighed before heading out with her clock over her head.
'It was a good idea to take from the guard's money. I managed to buy myself a disguised ring, clothes, and food.' She thought as she walks down the street. She looked at the ring, it had a blue aura around it but it was silver. The aura indicated that one was disguised, and only that person could see it. The ring design was a crest moon facing left to right.
Soon, she noticed two children. They both looked like siblings, staring hungrily at the stale filled with delicious food. Calliope could tell their poor, most likely orphans. Her mother uses to tell her no matter the person's status, one can not stand by a let others starve. So, Calliope walked over and kneel. " you two hunger?" She asked the two young children no older than six and four. She smiles, "Here take these." She said taking a piece of bread and apple from the stale. She handed it to them, soon motioning for them to go. Both children thank her and ran off.
Unknown to her, she was being watched by Roman La Heart, in her commoner's disguise. His outfit was a port shirt, pants, belt, and boots. Wearing a necklace that had a crest on it, only those of noble stature had.
Many common people would think he was a knight squire or a poor baker. Something of the between, a job that works with a hands-on approach. The stall owner also saw, "HEY!! GET BACK HERE!!" He yelled to the children, who had already run away. He turned to Calliope, he looked angry. "Do you know how much that is! 20 gold coins!!" Calliope was surprised, "Your upset about money, those children were starving! How could you let children starve! " she yelled he grabs her hand and slammed it onto his stale. "There are two options for you girl! A. You pay for the goods or B. You lose a hand!" As he said, Roman came in, "Wow, Richard! Come on there is no need to get hostile. This lovely lady will give you a trade. Just let me talk to her." The stale owner, known as Richard, looked at Roman. "Stay out of this Roman, this girl is nothing but a filthy street rat." Calliope looked mad," at least this street rat has more kindness than all the money in the world, you filthy shit head." She said before Roman grabbed her and bring her to the side, "Okay, listen. You need to trade or pay okay. It is better than the guards taking you to the labors or losing a hand." Roman said before he continued, "Do you have anything to trade?" He asked.
Calliope shook her head, "Only my ring, which is a no. Another is my mother's necklace and her dagger. The dagger she gave me on my 9th birthday." She said showing him the dagger.
Roman took the dagger as Calliope protests, "Here Richard. A one-of-a-kind dagger. It's worth more gold you'll be able to dream of." He said as he covers Calliope's mouth. Richard took the dagger and examine it. The dagger reflected the stale owner's features, Richard has blue eyes, brown hair with a shaggy beer, and tan skin. He wore a robe tunic that those of desert people wore. "Hmm, I'll take it." He said before putting it away, Roman gives him an apple. "Here, an apple for your troubles." He said before dragging Calliope away.
"How dare you!! That belonged to my mother-" before should continue, she felt her dagger in her hand. She saw it and gasp, "In three seconds, we better run so if I were you, I would start running." Right as he said that shouts were heard. Roman began to run as Calliope ran after him.
Behind them were guards, Richard was yelling a few foul choices of words. Calliope ran, she felt her heart and blood pumping as they ran away. The dodge guards, through the twisted curves of the ally ways of the capital. People shouted as they ran past them, moving out of the way so they wouldn't get hurt. A strong wind caught Calliope's hood, it fell showing her face. Roman saw through the corner of his eye.
To focus on the task he turn to her, she was falling behind. "Grab my hand! Hurry!" Without hesitation, she reached out for his hand. It was like time was slowing down, as their hands connected. A single spark as the wheels of fate turned. Their hands connected and time returned again
Their hands together, they ran until their breaths became breathless. The bells of the church ring, as the sun fell onto the coming afternoon. Our two protagonists continued to run, for their journey of fate came. Vita smiles as his sisters are blessed to find his protection. Vita soon grew, he knew his High Brother blessed shall come and end HER blessed life. He can only hope that his protection may protect Calliope.
