Chapter 31: The Male Lead of the Story

He placed the notebook in his hand on Jiang Yu’s desk as if presenting a treasure. He then said gently, “Little Sister, look. I got these notes for you. You can study more efficiently now.”
Jiang Yu read the name on the cover. The words ‘Feng Jun Hao’ seemed familiar.
It took her a moment before she realized that it was the name of the male protagonist of the story.
Feng Jun Hao, son of Master Feng’s second wife.
It was the man whom Jiang Wan got heavily entangled with and the Jiang family paid a heavy price for it. In the end, she did not get what she wanted.
She recalled that the name of the romance novel she was in, it was called ‘Abusive Love: The President is Too Much’. From the name alone, it was clear that the book focused on toxic relationships. The male lead and female lead were always on and off again, on and off again.
No plot twist was left unused. Amnesia, car accidents, miscarriages, and divorce due to misunderstanding all played out in the book.
Jiang Yu didn’t read such novels. The youngest of her original group of friends had been heavily invested in the book and had complained about the plot day and night. As time passed, she eventually came to know the whole story as well.
In Jiang Yu’s opinion, the male lead, Feng Jun Hao, was a scumbag. On one hand, he had a deep love for the female lead but he also craved the power that he could get from the Jiang family. He was always leading Jiang Wan on and never outrightly rejected her.
In the later part of the book, to secure the position of the head of Feng family, he married Jiang Wan and used her family then forced her to leave the country.
For such a dirty man to be written as the main character, Jiang Yu suspected that there must be something wrong with the author’s mind.
She didn’t even want to touch the belongings of such a disgusting person.
“Why did you bring me these?”
Jiang Ze Yu noticed his little sister’s expression. Not only was she not happy… But she also seemed disgusted?
He touched a finger to his nose and said, “Sister, I think the notebooks of the school genius could be of much use to you.”
“Take it away. I don’t need it.”

Jiang Ze Yu did not insist further. If his little sister said she didn’t need it, then she meant she didn’t need it. He would just get Song Bi to return them later.
He was annoyed by Feng Jun Hao’s air of arrogance.

“Then why did you do this?”

Thinking about how Jiang Ze Yu had gone looking for Feng Jun Hao just to help her, Jiang Yu’s heart softened towards Jiang Ze Yu.
She added, “You don’t have to worry.”
Jiang Ze Yu nodded. “Okay, Little Sister.”
“I don’t need his notes...”
Jiang Ze Yu continued to nod his head.
“... To get first place.”
Jiang Ze Yu’s head continued to bob up and down but… He realized something was not right.

Jiang Yu waited for him patiently because she was a little curious what kind of request Jiang Ze Yu would make.
It shouldn’t be a difficult one if he thought of it in just one night.
Although it could be said that she has yet to encounter a request that was difficult for her.
Under Jiang Yu’s focused and intense gaze, Jiang Ze Yu became even more nervous.
Song Bi was stood watching from the sidelines.

Jiang Ze Yu waited nervously for Jiang Yu’s reply. He didn’t dare raise his head, afraid that he would see disgust on his little sister’s face and was afraid to hear her answer.

She paused for a moment then pushed the words out of her thin lips, calling out a name she has never said before. “... Fourth Brother.”

Jiang Ze Yu was stunned for a moment. He wanted to run screaming for the hills!
He still cared for his image though and when he opened his mouth, all that came out was a short ‘Ah’ before he quickly stopped.
His little sister had called him Big Brother. Ahhhhh!
Jiang Ze Yu felt like fireworks were going off in his heart. Countless words of ‘Ah’ floated in the vision of his mind. He was so happy that he could have run two laps around the field right now!
His heart soared, he felt his face and ears turning red. “Thank… Thank you, Little Sister.”
He actually stuttered!
Song Bi smacked his forehead and sighed.
Brother Yu, you are so embarrassing!
Your sister only called you big brother and you’re already swooning?
If she smiles at you, would you faint and enter Heaven right on the spot?
Jiang Ze Yu didn’t know where to put his hands. “Then… Then I will go back to my seat now.”
He had only taken two steps when Jiang Yu stopped him. “Fourth Brother?”

“I am warning you. Don’t say such nonsense in front of my little sister in the future. My little sister is the cutest in the world!”
Song Bi could not tell how Jiang Yu was in any way cute. He thought that praising a girl as cute was kind of saying she wasn’t very good looking. He didn’t expect Brother Yu to know this and was impressed.

Jiang Yu wasn’t surprised to see someone appear out of what seemed like thin air. Her next sentence was, “Bring me to him.”
The person bowed his head slightly in Jiang Yu’s direction. He then led her to a car.
Jiang Yu maintained her composure and did not ask where they were going.
She propped her chin up with her hand and stared at the scenery outside the window. She thought that they were being too careless with her. They had not even bothered to cover her eyes. This way, she would be able to recall the path later.
The car stopped. The person brought her up to a door of a room and left.
Jiang Yu opened the door and saw a man standing there. She had been expecting someone so she wasn’t surprised.
She was itching to make a move but could not recognise the person standing in front of her.
She then recalled Jiang Ze Yu talking about the Feng family and Jiang Cheng Lang mentioning the Fifth Young Master Feng. She then realized who he was.
There had been such a character in the story but unlike her role which only served as cannon fodder, the Fifth Young Master Feng could be considered as a supporting character in some scenes.
This man, Feng Lin Bai, who was not much different in age from the male lead, was one of the biggest obstacles in the male lead’s path to securing the Feng family fortune. He had almost become the head of the Feng family.
It was a shame that Feng Lin Bai fell ill and passed away three years later. In the end, it was Feng Jun Hao who came into power.
