Isla
My heart started racing after Caleb noticed I was looking at him so I quickly looked back at the microscope that was in front of me.
"I see, well then that's good to hear" Caleb says from behind his hand though I notice the tips of his ears are red when I glance at him
"Next question, what do you like to do in your free time?" I tilt my head looking at him after writing the answer on the sheet of paper in front of me
Caleb takes the microscope and looks at the slide we have under the lens thinking it over it seemed
"What do I like to do in my free time, well I love to play piano or my guitar that and watch anime, if I can find a book that catches my interest then I might read some" he shrugs before smiling at me "I take it I said something that makes you happy you asked"
I blush again before clearing my throat and changing the slides in the microscope before letting him take over
"You said anime, piano and guitar so yep you checked all those boxes plus reading so to answer your question yes you did" I smile happily before looking at Ivy and Chiaki and giggle softly.
"What is it?" Caleb looks at our two friends and laughs also "oh no"
"I think Chiaki is failing to hold it together" I chuckle seeing him mouth for help once he noticed we were looking
"I think you're right but I unfortunately I can't help him, he needs to actually try to talk with her it gets better once you actually get a conversation going"
I giggle slightly noticing Chiaki flips Caleb off before asking Ivy a question that I chose to ignore but notice Caleb stiffen and glare at Chiaki.
I place a hand on Caleb's arm "hey you ok?" I look at him a little worried
Caleb relaxes some and looks at me "yeah I'm alright..."
I notice he started to close in on himself and hum slightly in agreement
"Alright, your next question is, what is your favorite anime?"
"My favorite anime now that's a tough one. Hmm I think I would have to go with Sword Art Online though" He smiles and looks at me "what about you?"
"Well my first one would have to be My hero academia and my second is SAO for sure"
I smile back and take a deep breath before looking out the window
"There is one question that I want to ask but only because I can hear Ivy and Chiaki talking about when one of us is going to ask about it"
From the corner of my eye I can see Caleb blush slightly before tilting his head "good I'm not the only one who noticed"
I chuckle slightly as we hear Chiaki cough "nope"

Caleb
"So um who wants to do the honors of asking" I watch her as she blushes and smile softly
"I'm not sure um.." She blushes more before looking at me and taking a deep breath
"How would you like to go to the dance with me?" we both ask at the same time
I laugh and smile before calming down only to hear her laughing also
"That's one way to do it I guess"
"Yeah I guess so."
"So what's your answer then Isla" I look at her with a smile and think please say yes
"How about we answer together on three this time?" she looks at me holding up three fingers
"Alright" I nod as she starts to count down from three
"One" she puts one finger down "two" a second "three"
"Yes"
"Yes I would love to" I watch as her face goes from shocked too embarrassed to what seemed like disbelief
"Y-you would" She blinks as if not fully believing what I said
"Yes if you still want to that is"
I watch as she nervously nods before her hand goes to the necklace she is always wearing "I do" she smiles a little before shaking her head as if she was clearing her thoughts
"You alright" I do the same thing she did when I started to get distant and placed a hand on her shoulder
"Yeah just a little cautious I guess you could say" she whispers softly
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"The last dance I went to I lost my parents for good and since then I haven't gone to a dance"
I hesitate before hugging her and humming softly
She hugs back hesitantly and slowly calms down before looking at me with a small smile and light blush "thank you"
I smile at her and nod "your welcome and I'm sorry for your loss, when we're at the dance if it becomes to much we can walk outside ok"
She nods lightly and looks at her friend before looking back at how we were her eyes wide in shock
I glance at Chiaki before we both quickly let go of each other
"Sorry" we both say quickly
"Ah no I'm sorry I should have let go after you calmed down I didn't mean to make thing uncomfortable" I rub the back of my neck nervously
"No you didn't make things uncomfortable it's just- I wasn't" she sighs in annoyance with herself "I just wasn't expecting to have kept hugging you" she mumbles softly
"Same here" I blush again before looking at the lab "oh it seems we finished before everyone"
She looks alos and giggles softly "seems so"
"So what else would you like to know about me" I smile and look at her
"Hmm well how about why you went to the bookstore it was surprising to see anyone there that day"
"Oh uh heh I was actually waiting for you guys to get the book I wanted to read and I just happened to be in the area that day so I went to check and sure enough you had it then"
"Oh that explains why we had that book" She smiles
"Yeah" I laugh lightly
"So what about a favorite color?" She tilts her head
"Hmmm it changes from day to day"
"Oh then what is it today"
"Today I would have to say purple"
"Purple?"
"It's the color that spiders through the blue in your eyes"
She blushes and looks away briefly
"Hey don't look away its beautiful" I gently make her look at me "and I mean that"

Caleb gently turned my face towards him as he said that he meant my eyes were beautiful and I blush more before trying to think of another question to ask him.
"What about your favorite food?"
"My favorite food would probably be ice cream"
"Is that really a food though" I laugh softly and lift a brow
"No I suppose not huh, then I would have to say stake"
"Ok, Then favorite book"
"Wha- fine let's see here If I had to choose I would say Darkness becomes Her, that or Spellcaster and the books after"
"I would have to agree with that I can't choose between the two"
"It's impossible too"
"Yeah though I think a book series that I'm reading is going to take the first spot soon"
"What series?"
"A court of thorns and Roses Ivy got me reading it and now I can't stop"
He chuckles softly "I know that feeling"
I smile at him before looking at the time "School is almost out and I'm going to be dragged dress shopping. What color do you think I should pick?"
"Hmmm go with black and blue, those two colors would look perfect on you"
I blush slightly and look away "alright"
I look at the paper and face palm "we should turn this in"
"Oh yeah I almost forgot about that" He laughs before reaching for the paper the same time I do
"Oh sorry" I look at him and pull my hand to my side. "Would you like to take it up?"
"Ah sure I'll be right back" He takes the paper and goes to turn it in
At that moment I get a text from Ivy
Ivy: girl what are you doing?
Isla: I'm letting him take the paper up how are things going for you and Chiaki
Ivy: oh well it's going good he's so sweet and lost the little bet we did for who would ask to go to the dance between you and Caleb
Isla: You two bet?!?!?!?!?!
Ivy: just over the colors we are going to wear to the dance calm down, but yes we bet and I won
Isla: what did you say would happen?
Ivy: I said you two would ask at the same time
Isla: of course you did
Ivy: what is that a bad thing
Ivy: oh Chiaki is back gtg ttyl
I look up and see Caleb is walking back towards me and smile softly putting my phone away
"Do I want to know what all the typing on the phone was by you and Ivy was about?"
"Uh nope" I laugh nervously
"Alright then" He sits back down and smiles "any other questions?"
"Just one, if you had to choose between a cat and a dog which would you choose?"
"If I had to choose I would say cat if I didn't have to choose I would say both"
"Same here, your turn ask me anything you would like"

Caleb
I think about what I would ask her before I smile
"Alright then what's your favorite color then"
I watch as she blushes and tilt my head
"What's wrong Isla"
"N-nothing I just wasn't expecting you to ask that right off the bat, but my favorite color is light green and forest green"
I cover my face with my hand as I feel a blush rise on my cheeks
"Oh?"
She nods before looks away
"Like you said about yours it's the color that streaks through your eyes"
I look away slightly not sure how to reply
"O-oh, Then how about your favorite food?"
"My favorite food like you is ice cream but given that isn't a true food item I would have to say it is pasta"
"Pasta?"
"Yeah, I like to make different types of pasta from around the world to try"
"Then you wouldn't mind if I challenged you to a cook off one day" I smile jokingly but i was taken back by her response
"I'd gladly accept the challenge" She smirks before laughing at the bewildered expression on my face
"You should see your face"
I shake my head slightly before laughing with her
"I wasn't expecting you to actually accept something like that"
"Well if you can't have fun with what your doing then what's the point of doing it right"
"Yeah" I smile before hearing the bell
"Oh thats the bell"
"Yeah it is, Hey Isla how would you feel about having lunch together tomorrow"
"Are you asking me out on a date?" She tilts her head and smiles cutely
I rub the back of my neck nervously "ah well maybe if you want it to be a date, but if not we can just say we're hanging out as friends"
"I would love to Caleb but unfortunately knowing Ivy she's going to be dragging me everywhere to get ready for the dance"
At that exact moment Ivy walks up and smiles brightly
"Your fine to take her tomorrow Caleb I can take her to get everything else done the day of the dance we'll only need to get her hair and nails by then"
"Are you sure Ivy?"
"Yep have fun lovebirds"

I facepalm as Ivy says that before grabbing my bags
"Alright Ivy don't get to far ahead of things"
I smile seeing Caleb blushing before sighing
"Well I'm gonna head home before Ivy drags me everywhere"
"Alright see you tomorrow Isla"
I wave to Ivy and smile at caleb with a small blush
"See you tomorrow Caleb"
