Aragog/Missing

[The screen lights back up to show Harry and Ron exiting the cabin]

They glance to their left at the window, to see the spiders scurrying out the window, down the side of the house, towards the Forbidden Forest.

"Come on."

"What?" Ron croaks

"You heard what Hagrid said: "Follow the spiders."

"No!" Both Molly and Lily yell out.

"They're heading to the Dark Forest!"

Harry just walks away towards the forest, carrying Hagrid's lantern; Ron reluctantly follows.

"Why spiders? Why couldn't it be "follow the butterflies"? Harry, I don't like this. Harry, I don't like this at all."

Harry Shushes him.

"Can we go back now?" Ron asks,

"Come on!"

[The screen switches to show primrose hanging out with Theo in his dorm room.]

"My twin is doing something stupid right now." Said Primrose taking a bite of chocolate.

"How would she know?"

"I'm guessing some weird freaky twin thing." Says Snape.

"Mhm chocolate." Remus hums, wanting some.

Sirius pulls out a chocolate bar from his pocket and hands it to him.

Theodore looks at her strangely, "And how would you know Prim darling,"

"Because I can feel it." She deadpans.

"What do you think he's doing?" Mattheo asks her while playing with her hair.

"Awe, that's so cute." Mary gushes.

James scowls at her, "No it isn't."

"Probably sneaking out with ginger boy."

Regulus snorts, "Ginger boy."

That caused everyone in the room to laugh.

[The screen switches back to Harry and Ron.]

They walked for what seemed like at least half an hour, After a while, they noticed that the ground seemed to be sloping downward, though the trees were as thick as ever.

There was a strange rumbling noise and then silence. Then suddenly a low rumbling voice spoke out making them stop walking.

ARAGOG: Who is it?

"Don't panic," Harry whispered to a fearful-looking Ron.

ARAGOG: Hagrid? Is that you?

"We're friends of Hagrid's."

A large spider steps out of the shadows,

Barty let's out a squeal,

"And you? Y-you're Aragog aren't you?" Harry felt like his heart had left his chest.

ARAGOG: Yes. Hagrid has never sent men into our hollow before.

"He's in trouble. Up at the school, there have been attacks." Harry said, breathing very fast. "They think it's Hagrid. They think he opened the Chamber of Secrets, like before."

ARAGOG: That's a lie! Hagrid never opened the Chamber of Secrets.

"Knew it." Remus whispered

"Then you're not the monster."

ARAGOG: No! The monster was born in the castle. I came to Hagrid from a distant land, in the pocket of a traveler.

Ron nudges Harry, looking around the forest, wide-eyed.

"Harry." He whizzes

"Shush. But if you're not the monster, then- then what did kill that girl fifty years ago?"

ARAGOG: We do not speak of it. It is an ancient creature we spiders fear above all others.

"But have you seen it?"

ARAGOG: I never saw any part of the castle but the box in which Hagrid kept me. The girl was discovered in a bathroom. When I was accused, Hagrid brought me here.

Ron once again nudges harry, "Harry!"

Harry turns to Ron, "What?"

Very slowly Ron points up, at the Numerous spiders descending from a massive hive high above them, "Ahh- ahh..."

"Get the fuck out of there!" Rabastan yells.

Harry glances back at Aragog again, "Well... thank you. We'll just... go."

Aragog: Go?

Ron nods fearfully,

ARAGOG: I think not. My sons and daughters do not harm Hagrid on my command.

More spiders appear, slowly making their way towards them.

ARAGOG: But I cannot deny them fresh meat when it wanders so willingly into our midst. Goodbye, a friend of Hagrid.

A wide eyed pale Molly griped onto her husbands shirt.

Ron glances at Harry in terror, "Can we panic now?"

A spider lands right next to the boys; Ron points his wand at it in fear, while Harry swings the lantern at it, then at another spider before throwing the lantern to the ground and taking out his wand before he and Ron stand back to back as the spiders surround them.

"Know any spells?"

"One, but it's not powerful enough for all of them."

"Where's Primrose and Hermione when you need them?"

"These boys would not survive without them." Bellatrix said with a wicked grin

The spiders inch closer to them.
As a loud, long note sounded, a blaze of light flamed through the hollow.

Mr. Weasley's car was thundering down the slope, headlights glaring, its horn screeching, knocking spiders aside; several were thrown onto their backs, their endless legs waving in the air. The car screeched to a halt in front of Harry and Ron and the doors flew open.

"Hurry get in!" James and Sirius scream.

"Get Fang!" Harry yelled, diving into the front seat; Ron seized the boarhound around the middle and threw him, yelping, into the back of the car — the doors slammed shut.

Ron didn't touch the accelerator but the car didn't need him; the engine roared and they were off, hitting more spiders. They sped up the slope, out of the hollow, and they were soon crashing through the
forest, branches whipping the windows as the car wound its way cleverly through the widest gaps, following a path it obviously knew.

Harry looked sideways at Ron. His mouth was still open in the silent scream, but his eyes weren't popping anymore.

"Are you okay?"

Ron stared straight ahead, unable to speak.

They smashed their way through the
undergrowth, Fang howling loudly in the back seat, and Harry saw the side mirror snap off as they squeezed past a large oak. After ten noisy, rocky minutes, the trees thinned, and Harry could again see patches of the sky.

The car stopped so suddenly that they were nearly thrown into the windshield. They had reached the edge of the forest. Fang flung himself at the window in his anxiety to get out, and when Harry opened the door, he shot off through the trees to Hagrid's house, tail between his legs. Harry got out too, and after a minute or so, Ron seemed to regain the feeling in his limbs and followed, still stiff-necked and staring. Harry gave the car a grateful pat as it
reversed back into the forest and
disappeared from view.

Mostly Everyone let out a breath of relief.

Harry went back into Hagrid's cabin to get the Invisibility Cloak. Fang was trembling under a blanket in his basket. When Harry got outside again, he found Ron being
violent sick in the pumpkin patch.

"Follow the spiders," said Ron weakly, wiping his mouth on his sleeve. "I'll never forgive Hagrid. If Hagrid ever gets out of Azkaban, I'll kill him. We're lucky to be alive."

"I bet he thought Aragog wouldn't hurt friends of his," said Harry.

"I mean, what was the point of sending us in there? What have we found out?"

"We know one thing: Hagrid never opened the Chamber of Secrets;" Harry throws the cloak over Ron and prodding him in the arm to make him walk. "he was innocent."

"No shit, Hagrids like a huge teddy bear." Marlene muttered.

[The next day, The twins and Ron are visiting Hermione in the Hospital Wing again]

Primrose takes the old dried-up flowers out of the vase next to Hermione's bed, puts in some new white roses, then sits on the bed.

Evan laughs, "Roses like her name."

"Wish you were here, Hermione. We need you. Now more than ever."

Hermione just lays there with her glossy facial expression as Ron sighs sadly.

Primrose rubs Hermione's hand, she frowns as she feels something in it, Primrose looks down and removes her hand to discover a crumpled up piece of paper, a library book page, which she carefully removes and straightens out.

Ron glances at the page, "What's that?"

Harry leans over his sister's shoulder to examine the page. "Ron, this is why Hermione was in the library the day she was attacked."

'Of the many fearsome beasts that roam our land, none is more deadly than the Basilisk. Capable of living for hundreds of years, instant death awaits any who meets this giant serpent's eye. Spiders flee before it'

And beneath it, a single word had been written, in a hand Primrose recognized as Hermione's. Pipes.

The three of them share a look.

"Ron," he breathed. "This is it. This is the answer. The monster in the Chamber's a basilisk — a giant serpent! That's why I've been hearing that voice all over the place, and nobody else has heard it. It's because I understand Parseltongue...."

"There's a giant killing snake in Hogwarts!" Ted yells, looking pale.

Harry looked up at the beds around him.

"But if it kills by looking people in the eye, why is it no one's dead?"

"Probably because no one looks it in the eyes." Said Regulus

"Because no one did look it in the eye. Not directly, at least." Primrose says, looking down at the paper again.

"Colin saw it through his camera. Justin... Justin must've seen the Basilisk through Nearly Headless Nick. Nick got the full blast of it, but he's a ghost. He couldn't die again. And Hermione... had the mirror. I bet you anything she was using it to look around corners in case it came along."

Ron's jaw had dropped.

"And Mrs. Norris?" he whispered eagerly.

Primrose and Harry looked at each other,  picturing the scene on the night of
Halloween.

"The water..." Primrose said slowly. "The flood from Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. I bet you Mrs. Norris only saw the
reflection..."

She scanned the page in her hand eagerly. The more she looked at it, the more it made sense.

"But how's the basilisk been getting around the place?" said Ron. "A giant snake...Someone would've seen..."

Harry, however, pointed at the word Hermione had scribbled at the foot of the page.

"Pipes," he said. "Pipes...Ron, it's been
using the plumbing. I've been hearing that voice inside the walls..."

Rodolphus gagged, "Gross."

Primrose's face scrunched up in disgust,

"Remember what Aragog said about that girl fifty years ago, she died in a bathroom? What if she never left?"

"Moaning Myrtle." Harry nods,

"So that's how she died." James mumbles

"Jeez that must suck."

"What're we going to do?" said Ron, whose eyes were flashing. "Should we go straight to McGonagall?"

"Let's go find her."

They all got up to go to her office but stopped when Professor Mcgongall voice echo through the corridors, magically magnified.

"All students are to return to their house dormitories at once. All teachers to the second-floor corridor immediately."

"What happened now." Sirius mumbled

"I'm not sure I'm going to last, watching the rest of the film."

The twins and Ron hurry to the second-floor corridor instead of going back to their dorms. Snape, Flitwick, Madam Pomfrey, and Filch run up to the wall, where Professor McGonagall directs their attention to a newly written message.

Mcgongall groans, "you're suppose to listen!"

"It has happened, A student has been
taken by the monster. Right into the
Chamber itself."

The people in the great hall gasp,

"What.."

"Who is it?"

Professor Flitwick let out a squeal.
Professor Sprout clapped her hands over her mouth. Snape clenched his jaw.

Lockhart who had just arrived happily walked up to the group, "So sorry. Dozed off. What have I missed?" He grins at Snape and McGonagall, he didn't notice that the other teachers were looking at him with something remarkably like hatred. Snape stepped forward.

"He's still a teacher?"

"Just the man," he said. "The very man. A girl has been snatched by the monster, Lockhart. Taken into the Chamber of
Secrets itself. Your moment has come at last."

Lockhart blanched.

"That's right, Gilderoy," chipped in
Professor Sprout. "Weren't you saying just last night that you've known all along where the entrance to the Chamber of
Secrets is?"

"I — well, I —" sputtered Lockhart.

"Yes, didn't you tell me you were sure you knew what was inside it?" piped up
Professor Flitwick.

"D-did I? I don't recall —"

"I certainly remember you saying you were sorry you hadn't had a crack at the
monster before Hagrid was arrested," said Snape. "Didn't you say that the whole
affair had been bungled and that you should have been given a free rein from the first?"

Lockhart stared around at his stony-faced colleagues.

"I — I really never — you may have
misunderstood —"

"Please don't let him." Alice said, worried.

"We'll leave it to you, then, Gilderoy," said Professor McGonagall. "Tonight will be an excellent time to do it. We'll make sure
everyone's out of your way. You'll be able to tackle the monster all by youself. A free rein at last."

Lockhart gazed desperately around him, but nobody came to the rescue. He didn't look remotely handsome anymore. His lip was trembling, and in the absence of his usually toothy grin, he looked
weak-chinned and feeble.

"V-very well," he said. "I'll — I'll be in my office, getting — getting ready."

And he walked off. Filch watches him, then glances at Madam Pomfrey and Professor McGonagall

"Who is it?" said Madam Pomfrey. "Which student?"

"Ginny Weasley," said Professor
McGonagall.

Molly and Arthur gasped, Molly began to cry.

"The small girl wealsley that had been acting weird this whole flim?" Barty asked, earning a smack from Regulus.

Primrose and Harry had to hold Ron up, stopping him from falling.

Professor McGonagall sadly walks away, along with the other staff; a second later, Snape follows them, revealing the newly written message, which reads

'Her skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever'

Ron looks like he's gonna pass out, "Ginny" he croaks
