3rd Person POV

Nate walks into the kitchen with a tray of uneaten food. "How is she?" Zari asks

"Worse." Nate says. "She still won't eat, and Gideon made her favorite quiche."

"What about that bloody video?" Constantine asks

"Still watching it on a loop." Nate says

"We got to do something." Spooner says

"We just need to give her some space." Zari says. "When I lost Behrad, that's what I needed."

"Speaking of, where is B?" Nate asks

"He won't leave the lab." Spooner says. "He's taking Sara's death almost as hard as Ava."

"Yeah, well she's not the only one who's dead..." Constantine mutters under his breath, taking a sip of alcohol

"Please, don't." Nate says, his voice cracking. "We don't know if Brooke is dead."

"We don't know if she's alive, either." Constantine retorts

"She has to be." Nate insists

"And what if she isn't?" Constantine questions, standing from his seat with the bottle of alcohol in his hand. "We got word that Sara is dead and now you can't even for a minute think of the possibility that Brooke might be dead as well? Why can't you–"

"Because I can't lose her!" Nate shouts

"And I can't either!" Constantine shouts back

It's silent as Nate takes a seat in a chair, burying his head in his hands. Constantine sighs, blinking hard to get rid of tears

"Look...I think...I think we're all a little tense right now." Spooner says. "So...why don't we just all take a breather, yeah?" She suggests

"Yeah." Nate whispers, wiping his eyes. "Yeah, you're right. I'm gonna go find B."

"I'll come with." Zari says and the two leave the kitchen

Guards rush into the room where Sara and a beaten up Bishop are. "Oh, finally." Bishop says. "Do you mind?" He asks, grabbing a gun and killing himself. Another clone Bishop in the chamber comes to life. "Much better." He says, walking out of the chamber and getting dressed. Sara is in shock at what just happened. "Ooh, I hate having broken bones. They make these awful crunching sounds. Now, where was I? Oh, yes, the plan. You're gonna love it! Merging alien and human DNA. I knew that was the answer, but it turns out that kind of merger requires an awesome degree of mental fortitude. Hard to find, mental fortitude, but you know who's got it in spades? I'll give you three guesses. Never mind, I'll give you zero." He says and with that, a picture of Brooklyn and Sara pops up on the screen. Sara's eyes lock onto the picture of Brooklyn. "I got them off these old romance novels by some lady, Rebecca... Steel? No, Gold. Mm, Silver! Anyway, your story was so inspiring. Brooklyn's too. Resilience, it seems, is the key. Otherwise we get an Amelia Earhart situation. I wanted both of you but, eh, one of you works fine, you know, because your friend is dead."

"You're sick." Sara growls

"You want to see something sick?" Bishop asks her. "Check this out." He says, showing a vide of a bunch of Sara Lance's. "Hmm? Photoshop Ava put this concept art together. See? That's you, and that's you. That's you, but also not you, a better you. They're alien-Sara Lance hybrids, and together, we'll colonize every planet in the galaxy and begin the next chapter of the human race."

"You're gonna put millions of alien mes onto planets billions of miles away. What are you, 6?" Sara questions

Bishop turns away and Sara goes to grab the engagement ring off of dead Sara's hand. "Uh-uh." Bishop tells her as the guards aim their guns at Sara. Bishop takes the ring. "This is a symbol of your old life. ♪ You need to engage ♪ ♪ With your future ♪"

"Why would I help you?" Sara questions. "Because I died and you cloned me? I die about once a year, and my girlfriend is a clone. Now, I'm gonna get off this planet, and I'm gonna propose to her with that ring. Now, give it back to me, you son of a–" She launches at him but the guards grab her

"Bummer!" Bishop tells her. "Thought this version of you would be cooler. Take her to the incinerator. I'll just keep tinkering until I get a version that cooperates."

"No version of me will ever help you!" Sara yells as the guards pull her out of the room

"I love that fighting spirit ♪" Bishop sings. "Oh, and save the dress! I'd hate to waste such a fine piece of silk."

"B?" Nate looks around the lab where Behrad is nowhere to be found. Music plays over the speakers. "That's weird. That's his thinking music."

"Gidget, where's my brother?" Zari asks

"Mr. Tarazi is not on the Waverider." Gideon announces

Nate looks around. "Oh, no." He says, grabbing something. "It's his thinking w*ed." He says before making his way around the lab to look for more clues

Zari follows. "As your reluctant default interim co-captain, we need to work on our shorthand, because I don't understand what you're saying." Zari says

Nate stops at a whiteboard with many many scribbles of plans. "Oh, no." Nate whispers. He presses his comms. "Guys, we need backup."

"Where the hell are we?" Spooner asks, looking around

"Last year's finale." Astra says as the group walks towards the club with their outfits on from last year

"What's a finale?" Spooner asks

"You'll see." Nate tells her. "They're pretty fun, I mean, except for the one where I died."

"Okay, shh. Has anyone seen our Behrad?" Zari asks, looking around
"There he is." Constantine says, pointing over to the dumpsters where Behrad is sneaking around

The group makes their way over, Constantine and Nate grabbing Behrad before he can go into the club and bringing him behind the dumpsters

"Did you think we wouldn't notice?" Zari asks her brother

"I know there are a million reasons why I shouldn't do this, but I am stopping Sara and Brooklyn from being abducted and dying, and you can't stop me!" Behrad exclaims

"The only other building in the area was a fireworks factory." Nate says

"All right. So what's the plan, bro?" Zari asks

"All right. We need to get the girls onto the Waverider before the aliens arrive." Behrad says. "I'm thinking fire alarm."

"No, the Hole doesn't have fire alarms." Astra says. "The place is a death trap. I felt like I was back in hell."

"Why don't we ask Ava for a plan?" Spooner suggests

"No, no, no, no." Nate shuts her idea down. "Ava would never allow something like this. It's too risky. It's up to us to save Sara without interacting with our former selves, so at any point during the night, did anyone slip away that would give us a window to step in?"

"Honestly, mate, that night was a blur." Constantine says. "Do you remember anything?"

"Well, I said goodbye forever to the love of my life, so, yeah, I went pretty hard." Nate says. "Blur. Look, if we could pull this off, we not only save the girls, but we prevent aliens from scattering across the timeline."

"Wait, if there are never any aliens, I never look for Spooner." Behrad says

"And I never join y'all." Spooner says. She lets out a laugh. "I mean, y'all are great, but there were perks to my old life: you know, never getting attacked by alien Amelia Earhart, never getting turned into a fork."

"That was one time." Astra says

"Don't trust you." Spooner says

"All right. Go on! Get out of here! Go and enjoy your vacations." Past Charlie says. "You earned it."

With that, the group begins to walk away

"Sara! Brooke!" A voice exclaims from behind. The two girls stop and turn to look. "Listen to me, when you..." A beam of blue light grabs the two girls and pull them into a spaceship. "No!" Behrad yells

= Alien Planet =

"Did you feel that?" Brooklyn whispers, looking at Sara

"Ugh, those idiots are trying to save us." Sara realizes. "They're gonna destroy the timeline if I don't get back there soon." She tells Clone Ava

"I'm almost done." Clone Ava says. "What will you do after we print the new version?"

"Human me will go home, and then this me will stay here." Sara says. "All right. How long is this gonna take?" She asks, looking at the screen

"With these new specifications, 10 minutes." Clone Ava says

"Well, let's just hope Rory and Gary don't get too antsy." Sara says, watching the pod

***

"Sara?" Mick questions, walking into the compound

"Well, well, look who I underestimated." Bishop says, holding a Clone Guard Ava by the neck

"Where's Sara?" Mick asks

"I can arrange for you to see her most expeditiously." Bishop says. Mick burns and kills Bishop. "Oh, that's much better." His voice says from the computer

"Oh, no, no, no. You ruined everything." Guard Ava says

"He's a psychopath. Now he's a dead psychopath." Mick says

"He's not dead. He's everywhere." Guard Ava says

"Sara definitely picked the right Ava." Mick says. "The rest of you are nuts."

"Much obliged, Mr. Rory, for giving my transformation such poetry." Bishop's voice says over the speakers everywhere

...in the lab...

"Damn it." Sara mutters. "It doesn't matter! You won't have time to reprint before I blow this place up."

"Thinking too small again, Sara." Bishop says. "Why be where you're not wanted when the universe has offered a standing invitation?"

"Oh, no!" Clone Ava gasps. "His consciousness is digital, and he's uploading it to the cloud. Once that upload is complete, he'll be able to print himself from any..."

"Anywhere in the universe." Sara finishes. "All right. So we stop it."

"The only way to do that is to detonate the generators." Clone Ava says

"How long until he's uploaded?" Sara asks

"Three minutes." Clone Ava answers

"What will you do, Sara: save yourself or stop me?" Bishop asks. "What a sticky little wicket."

"Can't this thing print any faster?" Sara asks

"Leaving your fate in the hands of a printer? I'm disappointed." Bishop says. "Make a choice, Sara."

"Shut up!" Sara yells, kicking the computer

Mick walks in. "Brooke?" He asks. Brooklyn turns around and her eyes well with tears again as she rushes into his arms and hugs him tightly. "Oh, thank god." Mick breathes through his own tears. After a moment, something catches his gaze. "What is that?" He asks, pulling away from Brooklyn

"It's me." Sara says

"What?" Mick asks

"I died." Sara says

"Again?" Mick asks

"Yeah, but this time, I didn't make it back." Sara explains

"So who am I talking to?" Mick asks

"A monster!" Sara exclaims. "Which is why you need to make sure that you take this version of me home with you. All right? This body, it's not me."

"One minute until Bishop's upload is complete." Clone Ava says

"Then blow it!" Mick yells

"No, don't!" Sara stops him. "Don't. Look, I can't go back to the team half-alien. What if I hurt you guys? What if I hurt Ava?"

"Listen, that creep can't get away with it!" Mick yells

"That creep changed me, Rory!" Sara yells. "Look, I don't even know what I am anymore. All right? You cannot see it, but I'm damaged."

"Damaged?" Mick asks. "No. I see someone who's been through hell but never stopped being herself. I see Captain Lance. I see Sara, my oldest friend. We need you. Please."

"Let's get the hell out of here." Sara says with tears in her eyes. "Come on. Gary, let's blow this place." She says through the walkie

As the group runs away from the compound, Mick supporting Brooklyn's weight, the compound explodes

"Whoo! We did it! Viva la Avalucion!" Gary yells, the group meeting up

"Let's move!" Mick orders

"Oh, god." Brooklyn groans, grabbing at her stomach

"Are you okay?" Sara questions, the group stopping

"Just a little weak." Brooklyn says. "I had an alien infection."

"The same one I did?" Sara asks as Brooklyn nods

"I made a cure." Brooklyn explains quickly. "It didn't effect me as quickly. And before you ask how, I have no clue. My body and brain have always run fast so I guess this infection ran slow." She rambles. She pulls the makeshift bandage from around her arm. "I'm losing blood again." She says

"We gotta keep moving." Clone Ava says

"I'll carry her." Mick says quickly, scooping Brooklyn up

"Okay, so once the barrier is gone, it'll be cold, and you'll need masks to breathe." Clone Ava says as the group starts walking again. "You'll also need these to fend off the Zagurons. They hate light. Okay, good luck!" She says, handing the group the masks

"You sure you won't come with us?" Gary asks

"This is my home." Clone Ava asks

"Are you gonna be okay?" Sara asks

"We're a team of trained warriors, medics, engineers, and gourmet chefs." Clone Ava says. "We'll be fine."

"The Zagurons have broken past the barrier." A guard says

"We got to go." Mick says

The group makes their way across the planet as it gets darker. "The third moon has set!" Gary exclaims

"She'll wait!" Mick yells

"How can you be so sure?" Sara asks

"I just am." Mick says. "Kayla wouldn't leave without me."

"Where's the ship?" Sara asks

"Don't take it personally, Mick." Gary tells him

Aliens begin attacking the group. Sara fights one off but orders the group to run. Mick runs with Brooklyn in his arms as Sara and Gary run

The spaceship blows up the aliens attacking. "She came back for me." Mick says

"Well, I guess you were right about Kayla." Sara says

"Those dirt rats were starting to scratch up the finish, so I had to get my ship off the ground." Kayla says

"You're Kayla?" Sara asks

"And you're still the woman who almost destroyed my ship." Kayla says. "If we're done standing around, let's get off this stinking planet."

Just then, more aliens attack. Kayla transforms to her alien form and begins to fight. Mick blasts fire at the aliens, holding Brooklyn close to him

Once all the aliens are defeated, Mick looks around. "Kayla! Kayla!" He yells

"Get Kayla's ship ready to go." Sara tells Gary

"On it!" Gary says, running

"Mick, we got to go." Sara says

"I'm not leaving without her." Mick says

"We'll wait inside the ship." Sara says. "Please, come on, Brooke needs medical attention." She urges Mick and that seems to get Mick moving

"Guys, we got incoming." Gary says once the group of four is on the ship

"Gary, get this bird in the air." Sara says

"Aye, aye, Captain!" Gary agrees

***

"Are you okay?" Astra asks, making her way to Behrad

"It's my fault. I got Sara abducted." Behrad says. "If I never tried to warn her, she just would've kept walking, just never would've been sucked up into space."

"I'm pretty sure they would've gotten her elsewhere, but all right. You convinced me. It's all your fault." Astra says

"You have an unorthodox comforting style." Behrad says

"Yeah, we don't really do a lot of comforting where I grew up. Look, if you hadn't tried to save her, you would've spent the rest of your life wondering, 'What if I had?' I should know."

"You still miss her? Your mom?" Behrad asks

"Every day, but losing her brought me here, and that's not all bad." Astra says

"I'd say it's pretty good." Behrad says

"Hey, you two." Zari says, walking over. "I'm sorry, Behrad joon."

"I learned the hard way, mate. Some things can't be changed." Constantine says

"Well, I'm still here." Spooner says. "I'm guessing the plan didn't work."

"Well, there's one silver lining." Nate says

"I just can't believe the girls are gone." Zari says

"Legends never die." Behrad says

"I could use a drink." Astra says

"I'll second that, love." Constantine says

***

Sara's first place she needed to be was with Ava. Brooklyn's first place she needed to be was with Maddie and Jax. Mick flies the jumpship to where he dropped Jax and Maddie off: Central City

Once off the waverider, Mick and Brooklyn (with her hood over her head and her body dirty from the alien planet) navigate their way to an auto shop

"How do you know they're in there?" Mick asks as they make their way to the entrance

Brooklyn puts a hand over her heart. "I can feel it." She whispers, tears pricking her eyes. And she could. Brooklyn could feel a pull in her chest, a pull telling her that her loved ones were just on the other side of the door

The door opens and the bell chimes above

"Sorry, we're not open yet." A voice says from behind the counter. Brooklyn knew that voice and her breath catches in her throat. She can't even speak. The owner of the voice stands from behind the counter and his eyes lock on Brooklyn. "Brooke..." He whispers, eyes wide

"Hey, Jax." Brooklyn whispers back with a teary smile

Jax takes slow steps around the counter, his eyes never leaving Brooklyn's. Brooklyn slowly lowers her hood as she takes a few steps forward as well. The two slowly make their way to each other, eyes glued on each other, and then slowly and lovingly, they melt into each other's embrace. They hold each other gently

And then the floodgates open. The hug turns tighter and more fierce with love. They grip onto each other, not wanting to let go. They cry for all the missed time, all the heartache they have had to endure

A few moments later, Jax kisses Brooklyn's forehead and holds her tight, looking past her to Mick and mouthing a silent 'Thank you' to which Mick nods in return

The only thing that broke the hug between the two was a small voice questioning, "Mama?"

Brooklyn looks over, tears streaked down her face, and sees her daughter standing in the doorway. "Hey, baby." She whispers, bending to the floor

Maddie rushes into the arms of her mother, crying tears of joy. Jax sinks to the ground next to the two, wrapping his arms around them

***

"Tonight, we talk the best of Sara Lance and Brooklyn Cooper." Nate says. "The tallest tales. It's time to write the Legend. Who wants to go first?"

"Hey! We will." Sara says as her and Brooklyn walk in with Ava, Jax, Maddie, Mick, and Gary behind them

The Legends all rush over and trap the girls in bear hugs

"Oh, Mick Rory, you salty bloody b*stard, I can't believe you did it, mate." Constantine says. "You saved them. Well done."

"Oh, Mick, I am so proud of you! I never lost faith." Nate exclaims

"Oh, look who it is: Alien Gary who kidnapped the girls." Zari says

"No, I can explain." Gary says. "That's not..."

"He didn't kidnap us." Brooklyn says

"He saved us." Sara says

"Be honest: Rory flew up to the planet, but it was really me that saved you, right?" Behrad asks

"Yeah, yeah, B. Let's go with that one." Sara says as she and Brooklyn laugh

"All right. You guys, what do you think, huh? Let's go home." Ava says

"Let's go home!" Nate and Behrad exclaim

"Yes, please!" Brooklyn exclaims

The group leaves the restaurant, walking across the pavement and towards the waverider. Jax and Brooklyn walk with their hands intertwined and Maddie walking in front of the two

"When I was separated from her..." Brooklyn starts, looking at Jax. "...I...I felt like I was dying." She says, her voice breaking and tears in her eyes. "And I couldn't help thinking–"

"We're all back together." Jax tells her. "There's no need to be thinking like that anymore." He tells her, pressing a kiss to her lips

"And tonight, I want to propose to my girlfriend." Sara says, catching everyone's attention. She bends down on one knee. "Ava..."

"Yes, I will! Sorry. Sorry, I'm just so excited." Ava says. "Please finish."

"When I was up there in space, floating further and further away, I realized something." Sara says. "No matter where I go or when I am, I will never be lost because I have you. You are my North Star. You are my guiding light, and wherever you lead me, that's my home."

"Do I say yes now?" Ava asks with tears in her eyes

"No, not yet." Sara says with a laugh. She pulls out the ring. "Ava Sharpe... will you marry me? This is when you say..."

"Yes, yes! Yes, baby!" Ava exclaims and the two kiss. Everyone around claps

"You remembered to take the b*mbs out of the mannequins, right?" Nate asks and then fireworks explode from behind
