Heather's POV
Right When Heather Called Bridgette

"Hey Heather, two calls in one day?" She asked

"Yea it's an emergency." I said

"What kind of emergency?" She asked

"That doesn't matter, what matters now, is that I have to tell you something." I said

"What do you want to say?" Bridgette asked

"I'm going to tell you a lot of things now, and it's beyond important and dangerous. So you, have to let me say what has to be said, and you can not interrupt, do you understand?" I said

"Yes." She said

"So, we've got a problem." I said

"What kind of problem?" She asked

"Mark killed a guard." I said

"Wow, getting straight to it." Bridgette said

"Yea, it's a pretty bad problem. And now we're afraid that along with this crime, he might be sent to execution." I said

"Oh no, you're probably right. I mean, he is a guard, and killing someone with that degree, is pretty bad." She said

"Yea, I know, that's why I'm calling you." I said

"Ok, so what did you want to tell me that is so urgent now." She said

"We don't know how much time we have until the trial, and that means we have to escape as soon as possible, like immediately." I said

"So, you want me to send over the saws immediately, like right after our conversation?" Bridgette said

"Yea, you need to mail them out now, so when we get them, we can escape right then and there." I said

"Ok..." She said

"And I know you said you needed like five days to have them completely finished, but by any chance, are they done now?" I asked

"Heather, the only reason why I said they'd be done in five days is because I wanted them to be perfect with zero flaws. And I thought I had that time because there wasn't really any rush to have them finished, but now there is." She said

"So, do you think they are finished enough?" I asked

"I believe so. They were pretty much done and completed like two days ago, but I wanted them to be perfection when I gave them to you guys." Bridgette said

"Ok so, you'll send them over, and they will work, right?" I asked

"Yes, they definitely should. But don't think it will work immediately, it will take the whole night for you to be able to escape the cell." She said

"Yea, that makes sense, I'm just glad the saws are fine now, and are good enough to send over." I said

"Yea, I just wanted them to be the best they could be for your escape." Bridgette said

"Yea, that's good. But yea, I guess send them as soon as our conversation is over." I said

"Ok, I will. And it should work." She said

"Okay, that's good." I said

"And when you guys escape, you know what to do, right?" She asked

"Yes, of course we do. And our time is pretty much up Bridgette, so I'll call you soon." I said

"Ok, talk to you soon." Bridgette said

"Bye." I said

I hung up the phone.

I was then escorted by the guard and brought back to my cell.

"So, how was the call?" Scarlett asked

"It was good, I guess." I said

The call wasn't bad at all, but I was hoping for a little better news than I got. I was wishing for the saws to be beyond perfect, I don't know if they will work.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked

"Um, Bridgette said that the saws were pretty much done, but she just wanted them to be perfect before she sent them out to us." I said

"So, that means they're not perfect?" She asked

"That's what it seems like." I said

"Well even though they aren't perfect, I'm guessing they should still work." Scarlett said

"That's what I'm hoping, but it's always better to have it perfect than to have it not." I said

"Yes obviously, but there's nothing we can do about it now, it's out of our hands." She said

"Yea, I know." I said

"And don't worry, maybe it'll work out better than you think, and they will cut through fine." She said

"Yea, I'm hoping. Fucking Mark, I can't believe he possibly screwed this up for us." I said

"Let's be honest, we both knew he was bound to screw up sometime." Scarlett said

"Yea, I know. I was just hoping it wouldn't have to be at this time of severity of our escape." I said

"I know, but maybe it will all work out, and we all end up escaping, and possibly cutting Mark loose and leaving him, no offense." She said

"No offense taken." I said

"You see, this is why our relationship works, you don't take my insults to seriously, you get me." She said jokingly

"Thanks Scarlett." I said

"Heather, I know this is kinda out of the blue, but..." Scarlett started to say

"What is it?" I asked

"It's just, are you sure you still want to go through with this plan, you know the risks we are taking?" She asked

"Yes Scarlett, I am definitely sure of what I'm doing, and I am not backing down from this." I said

"It's just, it's really risky what we are about to commit." She said

"Scarlett, I am not going to stop this plan from happening, I am going through with it, no matter what. And if you don't want to attempt to escape with us, you don't have to." I said

I am not backing down from this plan, I have to escape and get back to my sister.

"No it's fine, I just wanted to see if you understood the severity of what we are about to do. I am committed to this." Scarlett said

"Ok good." I said

2 Days Later

In the cell, a guard walked up to it, and got my attention and started to say something.

"Hey, Heather, come with me." He said

"Why do I have to go with you?" I asked

"You really want to know?" The guard asked

"Yea, that's why I asked, bucket for a brain." I said

"I'm bringing you over for Mark's trial, you are his wife, right?" He asked rhetorically

"Ok fine, one second." I said

I decided to talk this over with Scarlett, for a second.

"So Scarlett, do you think this is going to end well?" I asked her

"Well, it's hard to tell, we just have to hope the punishment isn't too harsh." She said

"Yea, I know." I said

"Pray for no execution." She said seriously

She said that with such a serious tone, like she was petrified of it happening. Also, that it was a real possibility of it occurring.

Our plan could be ruined if it is.

"Yea let's hope not." I said

"Well, good luck Heather." Scarlett said

"Thanks, see ya." I said

"Ok, now let's go." The guard said

He then cuffed me and brought me all throughout the jail, and took me to the cop car.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked

"To court, your husbands trial is soon." He said

"Ok." I said

"And since your still a criminal, you still have to be cuffed to the bench as well as your husband." He said

"Yea, I kinda figured that." I said

"And you will be cuffed to a bench right behind him, and you will not be prohibited to have any physical interactions with him." He said

"Ok that's fine, I wouldn't have touched him either way, no matter what." I said

"And just so you know, you will not be allowed to talk at all throughout the court session, and if you do, you will be escorted out of court." He said

"Like I care, like I said before, I have no interest in talking to Mark, or throughout the court session, or having any interactions with him." I said

"Ok, whatever." He said

The rest of the car ride was in complete silence, and I didn't have any interest in talking at all.

After the court session I'm going to be taken back to jail either way, so what's to be excited or to look forward too.

"Ok we're here." He said

"Ok, let's go." I said

He brought me out of the car, cuffed me and brought me inside the court room.

When we go in the room, I see Mark immediately, in the bench with his law appointed lawyer, and he looks beyond depressed, but I could care less.

"You will sit here, right behind Mark, but you may not speak or have any physical interactions with him, or you will be in trouble." He said

He then cuffed me to the bench, and left to the side of the court room.

There was near half of the court or maybe a little over half the court filled with random people, here to see how this plays out.

This case had been on the news lately apparently, and it's been gaining an audience.

Mark and I became "famous", as killers, since everyone found out what we did to all those innocent trick or treaters.

And now since Mark killed another person, most people want him dead, and want this case to end with him being executed.

"Court is in session." The judge said

Oh god, this could be the worst thing to happen throughout this jail time.

The court session went fine in the beginning, Mark actually had a good lawyer, so he was able to not get too much hate at first.

But when the lawyer against the prosecutor came up, it went downhill.

He stood up, faced the judge, and started to make an annoying speech.

"If I may say, this man killed an innocent person. A man, by the name of Tyler, who had his whole life ahead of him, someone who did nothing." He said

He then gave a death stare to Mark.

Then he talked to a witness.

"There was no reason for this kill, and this murderer killed him anyway." He said

Then our lawyer spoke up.

"Objection, hearsay!" Our lawyer said

"Objection sustained." The judge said

The other lawyer spoke up again.

"Fine, as I ask my witness, can you describe, what you saw that night?" He asked the witness

The trial went on, with both sides being pretty even, but I had a feeling it wasn't going to stay that way.

Then, our lawyer got up, and started to speak, looking beyond nervous, like he had the same feeling as I do.

"This kill was tragic, there's no denying it. But there's no need to blame someone for it without having any real witness of it. The security cameras weren't working at the time, and it was during the night. There was no one who had a clear view of it, and how it all went down. There is no reason to blame my client for this murder." He said

After that huge speech by our lawyer, I felt we were in a good place now.

After more of the trial went on, I still felt we in a good place in the trial.

But then the opposing lawyer went up.

"They may say that there were no witnesses for this murder, and they may be able to make up stories for this killing, but there is something they can't lie, or make up a story from, and that's DNA. There is DNA on the guard, Tyler, from after the killing, and that is from the prosecutor we see here. Although, the DNA may have came from something else, but, well, I'll leave that up to you to decide." He said smirking

Oh wow, he knows how to come back well.

After a bit, the trial was almost over.

It was time for the lawyers to give their concluding speeches to the jury.

Our lawyer went up first.

"Jury, I want you to consider something when making your decision. Your past doesn't define you, especially for Mark. Don't let his past influence your decision, that doesn't matter. What matters is that my client was wrongly accused of killing a guard, when there was no witness to it. It is detrimental that you consider this in your decision." He said finishing his speech

He then sat back down, looking satisfied.

It was then the turn for the opposing lawyer to give his final thoughts on the case.

"This murder was inconceivable. It was horrifying, and the only thing that would be worse, would be if the murderer didn't get punished for it. A poor, innocent man, Tyler, who worked at the prison, did nothing that deserved for him to get killed. This case is in your hands, but I recommend that you decide what you think is right, and what needs to happen. And we all know what needs to happen." He said then sat down

He obviously wants Mark to get executed, it was kinda implied in his speech.

Now the main part of the trial was over, and now we have to wait for the jury to give their verdict

The wait was actually was just about half an hour, but felt like days.

After the wait was over, the members of the jury entered the room and sat down.

Then the judge spoke.

"Please, tell us what the verdict is." The judge said

One of the members of the jury stood up.

"Yes your honor." She said

"What is your ruling?" The judge asked

"We find, the prosecutor...guilty, on all charges." She said

And my heart sank.

He was found guilty.

The other side, everyone against us, all turned to smiles.

"You may sit." The judge said

"Thank you, your honor." She said

Now that Mark is guilty, we have to now wait for the punishment the judge dishes out.

"My verdict for this case, is now determined." The judge said

"The verdict for the prosecutor is, execution." The judge said

Oh my god.

I can't believe it, this was worst case scenario.

Nothing would be worse than this, we lost the case, and he was ruled with execution.

Now the chances of escape plummeted.

This is devastating.

All the hard work.

All the hope.

All the wishing

All of everything, is gone.

A/N
So...that is chapter 13! This one was shown mainly about the case, and a little of shocking decisions throughout it. Having Scarlett have second thoughts about escaping with them... and Mark losing the case in the end. Very disappointing, and sad ending by the end, but tell me what you think, comment, and vote!!!
