"Hell yeah" Luke says from across our lockers
It's Friday, which means game day.
We're playing our rival team The Ohio State Buckeyes, not to brag but we beat ass on that field, so we're pretty hyped right now but Ares likes to underestimate them a little too much.
"Hares for life baby" ares says coming to high five me
"Don't say that ever again" I say shaking my head
I walk out to spot a certain brunette in the crowd, and like a sixth sense she's had since I first saw her, she feels my gaze and turns to meet it.
She smiles that soft smile making her dimples come out, and Jesus could it make a stranger on the street fall face first.
I give her a warm smile before turning and heading back into the locker so coach can give us the usual pre-game pep talk that always gets us going.
Game day baby.
"So this is their rival team" Julie ask from next to me
"Yeah, they win back and fourth though, like last year we won" Lio says from next to Julie
"I told Ares I don't want him being seen with me if he doesn't win, so that should do something" Scarlett says from the other side of me.
"That should guarantee us a win" Lio says laughing
I love game days, and not just because Halston's ass looks great in the uniform, but because I get to see him do the thing he loves, play ball with his best friend.
"What's Halston doing" Scarlett ask making me turn to what she's talking about
He did it.
I told him to kiss two fingers and puts them in the air, before the game starts.
"I told him to do it every time he thinks of me while playing" I say smiling
"That's adorable" Julie says
I love him so much, my biggest fear is losing him, and it's scary knowing I'm in that deep, but I've always known.
30 minutes later
We're losing.
The frustration on Halston's face being very noticeable.
"Halston looks like he wants to beat the shit out of someone" Julie says
"They always end up getting wasted when they lose to them" Lio chimes in
He has me now though, he doesn't need to get wasted when he has his girlfriend to rant to.
1 hour 30 minutes later
we lost.
The boys went back into the locker rooms to change, and I'm saying goodbye to the others and heading down by the lockers to wait for Halston.
"Hey bunny" Ares says coming out of the lockers giving me a hug
"Hey, sorry for the game, you guys did great anyways" I say giving him a soft smile
"Thanks, hey look, give Halston some time kay? he might act a little weird right now, but losing against Ohio always makes him moody." he says kissing my hair before heading where Scar is I'm sure.
Right after Ares leaves Halston steps out with a glare resting on his face.
"Hey" I say with a little smile stepping in front of him
"Hi" he says walking past me to his car

He opens the door for me and after gets in on his side.
"You guys did really good" I say when he starts driving
"Good" he repeats scoffing
"Yes you guys did good" I repeat
"We fucking lost Anastasia" He says in a tone I've heard him speak to others, but never to me.
"well yeah but on th-"
"Just stop, I'll drop you off at the cove" he says making me turn in my seat in silence
he didn't have to be a jerk.
15 minutes later
We finally get to my house and we both sit in silence, partly because I'm waiting for him to say anything, but after about three minutes of silence I give up and hop off the car.
Once I unlock the door I hear the car leave, and I feel empty and alone.
I head upstairs and jump into my bed falling into a restless sleep.
1 hour later
*THUMP
"ouch" I groan
I fell off the bed, great.
I crawl back on my bed and check my phone to see 12 misses calls from Julie and Scar and 87 from Halston.
Jerk.
I check my messages to find my phone spammed.

I send a message to the boys, Halston not included, and roll off of bed heading to Julie's room to find both girls very much asleep, is decide to go out for breakfast and text them if they want something later.
I take a quick shower before brushing my teeth and changing into some comfortable cotton shorts and an oversized sweatshirt.
I grab my keys and sunglasses and head out the door only to run into a body on our steps
I close the door and he turns around to face me
"hey" he says with a worried expression
"Hi" I say back sitting down next to him
"I was a dick"
"yea, you were" I say looking at the trees
I've never took time to look at what surrounds our house properly before, but now I can't seem to stop looking.
"I'm sorry Annie, we lost and I was frustrated-"
"you could have talked to me, but instead you shut me up and left to get drunk" I say calmly getting up and he follows
"I know but I-"
"I think we should take a break" I say crossing my arms
"Wait what the fuck, Anastasia you're not serious, it was one fight" he says with an incredulous look
"I feel like we need some time to think about what's important right now, how to fall on the other when its appropriate" I say
"Baby c'mon, you're what's important to me"
"Maybe, but sometimes I feel like you forget that you have me now, maybe if you don't, you'll wake up" I say
"A break?" he states with a confused look
"Yes"
"How long is that gonna last"
"However long it has to" I say
"Am I still gonna see you" he ask with a sad look
"We're in the same friend group Halston, now excuse me I'm gonna go get breakfast" I say turning and heading to my car
"Can I come" he ask
"No" I say before getting in and driving off.
I miss him already, but I think this is needed, he forgets the fact that I exist when hardships come crashing in his life, and alcohol always replaces my value, and I'm done with it. It's not a breakup though it's just a break, like in friends.
It's just until he realizes what he has.
