He knelt down on one knee, smiling up at me with shining eyes. My eyes instantly filled with tears. Was this really happening? Was the man I've loved for so long actually about to propose? He pulled out a small velvet box and opened it, revealing a beautiful, yet simple, diamond ring. He opened his mouth to speak, the question flowing out beautifully, as if he were singing.
*10 years before*
It was a normal day in spring. I didn't really enjoy the slight humidity from the rain, but the air was crisp and clear and the sun was shining just enough to be comfortable but not so much that it was uncomfortably bright. I was walking through the park, enjoying the day off I had after months of working. Theere was a warm breeze that blew through my thin t-shirt, and through the small rips in my shorts.
There were some kids playing in the playground, as their parents sat on the benches and chattered away to each other. It was peaceful. At least, it would have been. Suddenly there was loud laughter as two men ran towards me. They crashed into me, and all three of us fell back. Slowly, I got up and brushed myself off. I looked at the two guys slowly getting up. One was a couple inches taller than me, with brown hair, and a smile on his face. The other had blonde and blue hair and was laughing as he stood up again. When I got a good look at their faces, I realized it was Matt Webb and Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench. Holding in a scream, I said as calmly as possible, "You should watch where you're running next time." and chuckled.
Matt laughed and said, "Yeah, we're sorry about that. Must have been distracted." And Josh nodded, looking at me.
"It's alright. I'm Anja." I held out my hand and Josh immediately grabbed it and shook it.
"Anja...thats a pretty name. Very unique." He said, smiling. "Probably just like you."
I smiled back and said, "Th-thanks.."
Then Matt said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Matt and this is Josh."
I nodded, and laughed a little bit. "I know," I said. "I'm a huge fan of your music."
"Oh, pretty AND good music taste? I like this girl." Josh said, a little flirtatiously. Matt just rolled his eyes.
I blushed a deep red and looked down at my feet, tucking some hair behind my ear. My hair was long and blonde, sometimes the length was so unmanageable and there were many a time at work that I've lazily pulled it into a ponytail because it got in the way, but in this case it was useful because I could hide my bright red face.
When my face was no longer red, I looked up again just to find Josh staring at me. He looked away when he realized I'd caught him staring. "So...uh Anja...what do you do?" he asked.
"I work at a bank.' I said. "Its boring as fuck, but it helps pay the rent." I laughed.
Matt laughed too. "What bank?" he asked.
"Scotia." I answered.
Matt frowned. "Damn...there go our plans of robbing that place tonight." He winked and laughed. I laughed with him as Josh looked at him and said, "Wait..what? We're gonna rob a bank?"
Matt shook his head. "No Josh. We're not robbing a bank."
I checked the time on my phone and said, "Well I have to go and clean my apartment before my roommate gets back. It was amazing meeting you guys."
Matt smiled and Josh said, "It was amazing to meet you too. Could we see each other again?"
I smiled widely. "Sure," I said, "Here's my number." I took out a pen and a piece of paper and wrote down my phone number, then handed it to him before walking away. Quickly, I glanced over my shoulder and saw Matt laughing while Josh danced around a bit.
When I got back to my apartment I put on some music and reluctantly started to clean up. My roommate, Mia, had been away for a couple days and I had the place to myself. I couldn't wait until she got home. I was so bored and lonely when she was gone, so I was glad to have the company again, but Mia was also a huge Trencher and I wanted to tell her all about me metting Josh and Matt. Most people would probably call their parents and tell them all about how they met an amazing guy, and really liked him but I honestly couldn't stand my family. I mean I loved them, but I avoided spending time with them unless it was a holiday.
About five minutes after I had finally finished cleaning up, Mia walked in, yelling, "Honey, I'm home!" and laughing.
I laughed and ran to the door, hugging her. "Hey Mia! I missed you! How was your trip?" Mia had gone to Alberta with her boyfriend for a couple days. It was like a little vacation for them.
Mia grinned. "It wa amazing. We had so much fun!"
I grinned too. "That's great! What did you do?"
"Nothing you'd be interested in hearing about. Usually you're not so excited about my trips. What's up? Did you break something?" She looked past me at the apartment, scanning her eyes over the living room and checking that everything was where it should be.
I laughed. "I didnt break anything. I just had a really good morning."
"Alright, spill. What happened?" She put her bags down and dragged me to the couch, sitting down.
I sat down beside her and told her all about meeting Matt and Josh, and Josh flirting and getting my number. She squealed excitedly and said, "So are you going out with him tonight?!"
I shrugged. "I dont know...he hasn't even texted me."
Mia looked around. "Where is your phone??"
Suddenly, I jumped up and ran to the door, where I'd left my phone on a little table. I had two missed calls and a text. All from an unknown number. I opened the text and it read:
Hey, it's Josh. I was wondering if maybe you want to go out for dinner or something tonight?
It had been received two hours ago. I facepalmed. Fuck, I definitely messed up. He probably won't even want to go now..
I went back to Mia and said, "He texted me...he wants to know if we can go out for dinner tonight."
Mia checked the time. "Anja! It's 3:00! If you want to go, answer him now, or it'll be too late!"
Panicking a little, I quickly texted back saying yes and asked if 7 o'clock was alright with him. He replied within a couple of minutes saying he was okay with that and he'd see me then. I squealed and jumped up and down.
Mia grinned and jumped with me.
*Later that night*
I sat on the couch, waiting for Josh. I texted him my address and he said he was on his way. Mia had helped me get ready and i was wearing dark blue skinny jeans, black heels, and a blue blouse. She said it brought out the blue in my eyes even more. My hair was down, and Mia had curled it for me. They were big, loose curls, so they were light and I had less of a chance of ruining them. Mia sat in a chair, grinning. I couldnt tell if she was excited for me, or excited to meet Josh Ramsay...
A knock sounded on the door, and i got up to answer it but Mia sped past me and got there before me. Chuckling, I walked to the door and saw Mia standing there in complete shock, while Josh looked at her confusedly.
"uh...hi.." He said awkwardly.
Mia stuttered. "H-hi..." She said.
I laughed. "Hey Josh." I said from behind Mia. He looked at me and smiled.
"Hi," He greeted, seeming more comfortable. "You look great."
I smiled. "Thanks."
"Ready to go?" He asked. I nodded and stepped out the door. I said goodbye to Mia and closed the door, and Josh and I made our way down to his car.
Josh's car was nice, much nicer than I expected. He opened my door for me and I slid in. Closing the door behind me, he made his way around to the driver's side and climbed in. He started the car and started driving to the restaurant.
"You really do look great tonight." Josh said, keeping his eyes on the road.
I blushed a little. "Thanks. Mia, my roommate, helped me with my hair and choosing my outfit."
Josh smiled. "She made good choices. I approve." I chuckled.
We continued making small talk the whole drive down to the restaurant. When we arrived, Josh got out and opened my door for me. The restaurant was nice, but not really fancy, which I liked. We ordered our food and talked while we waited for our orders. It was a perfect night. Josh was funny, nice, and such a gentleman. I couldn't imagine anything better, especially with one of my avourite celebrities. When we finished eating, Josh paid and drove me home. We were standing outside my apartment door, talking, neither of us wanting to say goodbye.
"I'll see you soon?" Josh asked.
I nodded. "Definitely. We should do this agi\ain." He smiled and moved closer.
"Yeah we should." He said, looking over my face and pausing momentarily at my lips. SLowly, he leaned down and kissed me. It was sweet and passionate, even if it only lasted a couple seconds. "Good night." He said.
"Goodnight." I replied quietly and he left. I opened the door to my apartment and walked in. Closing the door, I leaned against it. That was more than just a kiss, and something told me that Josh was way more important that any other person I'd dated.
*Ten Years Later*
Tears flowed down my cheeks as he slipped the ring on my finger. I said yes. Of course I'd said yes. Why wouldn't I? I'd loed this man since I met him. Since that first kiss outside my apartment, I knew we'd be together. Dont ask me how I knew, I honestly had no idea, it was just a feeling. Josh stood up again and wrapped his arms around my waist. He was crying too. He pressed his lips to mine, slowly, passionately. It was just like our first kiss. The perfect beginning to the rest of our lives.
Hope you like it! It was a little rushed I feel, nut I really wanted it to be a true love in one day kinda thing. I originally had a diffeent idea but it changed as I was writing so I just wrote what came to mind. This one's for Anja. Vote/fan/comment Love ya! <3
