"look this way, beautiful", the eighteen year old slightly flinched at the camera shutter that momently blinded her.

"don't be shy, you're perfect" the woman purred behind the camera as the younger girl pretended to ignore the way she seductively eyed her and continued to pose.

"your daughter is very beautiful", harmoni heard from the side of the room causing her to grin, throwing her hair behind her shoulder giving the camera an low eyed stare.

"she ain't all that..but i guess" she heard her 'mother' state loud and clear, purposely wanting to be heard by her.

smiling dropping from her face back into her normal frowned expression as she switched poses not wanting the woman to see how her foul words had gotten to her.

"perfect! now on to the nude shots & we're all free to go" the photographer snapped her fingers signaling two men that walked over in robes.

"wait..wait i thought we were only doin-stop questioning them and do what they asked!" her mother snapped cutting her off.

turning her head toward the side, she eyed the woman noticing the satisfied smirk she wore, taking an hit of the cigarette.

swallowing her spit, the younger girl grew fearful ignoring the lustful gazes from the two men approaching her.

"ma'am, i-i didn't know anything about this nude portion of the shoot, especially with two overgrown men that i never met" she stated causing the buzzing studio to go silent.

the photographer slowly removed the camera from her eye sight, face going flat as she peered at the younger girl, "well your mother knew all about it, and said you'd be fine with it"

"but i didn't! and im not!" harmoni said unintentionally loud feeling as if she didn't have an voice of opinion in the action that involved her.

and right now, as she stood in a room full of people who knew everything about plans that involved her whereas she knew nothing, had her feeling very small.

"harmoni!" her mother exclaimed quickly stalking toward her pulling at her arm, "don't grab her like that Heather, you'll bruise her skin" harmoni's stylist exclaimed quickly following the two.

"shut the fuck up and do your job!" heather exclaimed making the woman stop in her tracks, while she continued pulling her daughter to the empty hallway away from everyone else.

forcefully pushing her up against the wall, the younger
flew back feeling the wind being knocked out of her while she groaned in pain.

"you must think you better than everyone else in hea' huh?" the woman gritted grabbing her up by her neck.

"think that you so good that you can't show some skin? bitch you ain't special, do what the fuck these people asking so i can get this money and go!"

harmoni stood silent against the wall, one hand clutching heathers wrist as she held around her neck tightly. The other laying flat against her back, pressed against the sharp pain that ran through.

she mentally cursed herself for not just going through with the photoshoot knowing there would now be bruising on her light-skin.

"youn' hear me?" heather questioned letting her go, watching as she stood silent staring at the floor.

without a second thought, she cocked her hand back sending it flying against her left cheek.

harmoni hissed as her head flew to the opposite side, instantly clutching her cheek with her palm attempting to sooth the burning sensation feeling.

"do yo' ass hear me now harmoni?", "y-yes mother" she answered quickly, gasping once the woman grasped onto her outfit ripping it off.

staying silent, she closed her eyes praying for the moment to be over, flinching from the cold skin that whipped across her now bare body.

the woman proceeded to throw the now ripped clothes to the side, staring down at the naked girl in pure hatred and envy.

"now walk your ass over there and finish this shit", speaking so closely in harmoni's face that she almost gagged from the lingering cigarette breath.

carelessly letting the single tear travel down her face, she stared the woman dead in the eyes seeing nothing but maliciousness.

" yes mother "

JOLTING AWAKE, the female placed an hand on her chest, panting loudly attempting to catch her lost breath.

patting her face, squinting once her fingers smeared the fresh tears across her cheek.

she peered around the bright room trying to make sense of what was going on, patting the empty bed that were once occupied.

rubbing the sleepiness from her eyes as she threw her legs over the side of the mattress, pulling the robe from the floor to put it on.

yawning as she stalked into the bathroom, catching an glance of herself in the mirror as an tired expression stared back.

simply shaking her head, she handled her business along with the small morning routine before soon exiting to go find kentrell.

cracking the door open, a loud sobbing sound echoed the wide hallway catching her off guard since she hadn't heard anything out of the ordinary.

peeking out of the door, not seeing anything caused her to walk farther down toward the living room area.

glancing around the corner, she could see kentrell pacing back and forth bouncing ke'mani in his arms speaking softly to the younger.

harmoni couldn't help but frown at the scene, watching the younger sob into the males neck clinging onto him tightly, while kentrell only held him closer.

"mane what's wrong?", he spoke in a soften tone toward the boy, cradling him tightly in his arms.

he'd been up with him since the early morning, comfortingly him as he cried his heart out before momentarily dozing off just to wake up and repeat the process.

assuming that he just didn't feel good, he scheduled for the boys doctors appointment to be moved to an more recent day just to be sure.

"say mani, you gotta tell me what's wrong or i can't help you, allat crying ain't gon' work fa' us" he spoke wiping the boys fallen tears.

it was making him upset that the younger was crying so harshly, especially since he didn't know how to help him or what the issue was.

"d-dooda" he cried out bringing his body closer all the while making kentrell grow more worried, "im right hea' son, calm down im hea'"

slowly pacing the hallway, gently bouncing the younger in his arms to calm him down as the cries began to seize once he grew sleepier.

feeling the boys forehead for the hundredth time making sure that it wasn't hot, nor did his stomach hurt when kentrell asked him earlier.

knowing for a fact that no one had harmed him since he never let the boy out of his sight, nor did horace's mom when he stayed with her.

plus ke'mani was smart enough to know if someone were doing something to hurt him and was taught to tell someone, especially his father.

so as of now, kentrell sat confused not knowing what happened to make the boy cry his heart out, but he was surely going to find out.

hearing the sound of small footsteps, he looked up making eye contact with harmoni who wore a frown on her plumped lips.

eyes raking over her body as she stood dressed in nothing but the silk victoria secret robe he'd bought for her, her curly hair in a wild ponytail on top of her head.

his favorite version of her had to be when she were just waking up, bare face and smooth skin on display for his eyes only.

he was honestly obsessed.

"you okay lil ma?", kentrell frowned noticing the exhausted expression she wore, along with her puffy eyes as she approached the two.

"yea jus' a bad dream, is y'all okay? what's wrong with my baby?" she questioned while kentrell struggled to hold back his smile at her word choice.

peering down at an whimpering ke'mani, he sighed, "ion know mane, he jus keep cryin'"

harmoni frowned noticing the males tired expression as well as ke'mani who laid impossibly close to his body.

"lemme see him", reaching her arms out as kentrell slowly placed the boy in her arms expecting him to start crying again.

surprised watching him cling onto harmoni as he previously did him, laying comfortably in her arms as his whimpering seized too.

kentrell tiredly grinned watching how gentle the female were being, whispering into the smaller's ear while comfortably rubbing his back.

soon watching him drifted off to sleep extremely tired from all the crying. Kentrell took it as cue to grab onto harmoni's arm leading her to the room so they could all lay down.

entering the room, he closed the curtain not liking how brightly the room was lit while harmoni got comfortable on the bed allowing ke'mani to lay right on-top of her.

kentrell smacked his lips watching the boy fix his head to lay comfortably on the females breast, "his ass know what he be doin' mane"

harmoni couldn't help but laugh at the males expression, "mind yo' business when it comes ta' him" she joked watching him roll his eyes.

"to sassy, be a man" laughing once he mugged her before chuckling along with her until they went quiet again.

taking a seat next to the two on the bed, he began to stare at nothing in particular as harmoni admired his facial features from the side.

he was exceedingly beautiful to her. The males skin tone, his uneven but plumped lips, perfectly arched eyebrows; and don't even get her started on the face scars.

she could stare at him all day without a worry for the simple fact he were the definition of one sight for sore eyes.

she was staring so intensely at him, not realizing he'd turned to equally admire her. Thoughts exactly the same silently pointing out her perfect facial features.

"you so beautiful ma'ma, ion think i tell you enough" kentrell spoke lowly as her cheeks flushed growing shy under the males stare once he began to go vocal with his opinion.

"and you're very handsome, I'll happily tell you everyday" she replied with an smile, rolling her eyes at the cocky expression that took knowing he were about to say something ignorant.

before he could speak she changed the subject, "what you think wrong with ke'mani? nobody did nothing to him have they?"

kentrell shook his head beginning to caress his small chin hairs, "ion know what's goin' on, i did everything i could think of and he still wouldn't stop cryin"

she could tell the subject of ke'mani was touchy for the male watching his whole demeanor change from playful to serious in a matter of seconds.

his love for the younger was unconditional, he would do anything for the boy just to make sure he was straight even if it meant ending his own life.

the two were extremely attached to each other, it'd been them on their own for so long you'd think either of them didn't need anyone else.

yet, no matter how much kentrell tried to fill the void of not having both parents, ke'mani was still going to feel the effects of it. It all began to make sense to harmoni.

she noticed the way the younger instantly calmed down once he had an feminine touch, also how clingy he were to kentrell seeing him as his father and not his brother.

it made her think the boy was developing attachment issues if he'd already hadn't, maybe his cries were from parent neglecting and not sadness.

not wanting to assume since she recently began to come around the two, she also didn't fail to notice how ke'mani clinged to her since they first met weeks ago.

"if youn' mind me askin', where are y'all parents?" she asked hesitantly not knowing how sensitive the topic was and didn't want the question to backfire.

in-fact, the reaction were opposite to what she expected watching the males expression stay calm not feeling any pressure to answer the sudden question.

"my mama passed away giving birth to mani, my pa ain't take that well and went missing for months until they found his body inna abandoned boat house and ruled it as an suicide"

harmoni frowned at how nonchalantly he spoke when answering her as if what he said didn't sound completely traumatizing.

whereas, kentrell didn't have a reaction somewhat feeling 'healed' from the emotional trauma his fourteen year old self induced.

"that's why i go so hard behind mani, he barely knew them people mane. I raised him from fourteen all the way until now barely accepting any handouts"

"the day that doctor put him in my arms, i couldn't think bout' nun else bad. I just knew from that moment he was my son, and i'a protect him with my whole life"

harmoni smiled watching him caress the younger's back once he began shifting his head around on her chest.

"i admire you for taking on that responsibility at such a young age, how you survive that?" she questioned genuinely wanting to know.

"honestly ion even kno', all i knew was i couldn't let them foster homes get us, that shit was fried"

"once my mama was pronounced dead, some days later they asked me if we had anybody that ca' discharge us. I told them my pops was gon' come back after 'getting some food."

"hol' time im already knowin' what that nigga was on, he was weak and couldn't survive without my mama. So once she was gone i knew he was gon' do sum fuck shit."

"we was inna hospital for about a week until they said they had ta' call the people, since we ain't have no guardian."

"that same day i stole some lady carseat and baby clothes out ha' room when she was showering, and snuck us out that muhfucka"

harmoni couldn't control her laughs as he began to chuckle at the vivid memory, "you did not" she said in disbelief wiping her eyes.

"swea' fo' god had my lil nigga in lil girl clothes, i'a never tell him either" he laughed before continuing the story.

"we was still living in my mama apartment for some months, mani was one of dem lil babies that slept a long time for some odd ass reason."

"so i'd stay with him majority of the day, then go to school around twelve once i put him ta' sleep and he'd be just now waking up once i got home."

"that was short lived once the landlord noticed we wasn't payin' rent, then found out both my parents were dead and called the people on us."

"i snuck us out through the backdoor when they came and used some of the money i had saved from sellin' chips and shit at school ta' get us some food"

"we was homeless at that point, sneaking into shelters at night and leaving real earlier inna morning. Once my money ran out i started stealing baby pampers and milk and shit"

"mani was a good baby though, he ain't never cried or nothing so it was easy managing him while also stressing bout' if we was gon' survive the winter"

"once i stopped comin' ta' school, horace snitching ass told his mama and that's when she took us in." he slightly chuckled.

harmoni didn't miss the slight smile that appeared he mentioned the males name, she only smirked deciding to ignore it.

"from thea', i finished school and started trappin' along with getting a regular job so the money would blend in if i was eva' caught."

"I was basically the neighborhood plug only selling to a few since i was still new to the lifestyle, once i got enough money doin' that-that's when i bought my car."

"then i got this apartment when i finally expanded my business and met my plug, i started sellin' to more people."

"and now, im laid up inna' bed with my son and his fine ass model mama. The end" he playfully said to change the mood making the girl laugh.

fascinated by the man's story, she couldn't imagine what it felt like raising a kid while still being a kid yourself, having to figure it all out on your own.

"i hate that you had to experience the hardships of life while only bein' a child, i feel like my life issues are nothing compared to what you went through" she frowned.

"naw don't do that mama, everybody got they own trauma you know we all been through sum shit befo' that make us who we is now" he expressed.

"your right, thank you for feeling comfortable enough to tell me that pa'" she spoke softly, grasping his chin pulling him closer.

placing a simple kiss next to his lips, the males eyes fluttering close at the feeling of her lips so close to his feeling his heart skip a beat at the innocent action.

"fasho, maybe one day..you'd feel comfortable enough to tell me your story" he spoke softly as the two gazed into each other's eyes.
